Azure DNS is a trusted cloud DNS solution that allows you to host your DNS domain alongside your apps. It's simple to set up and use, and it takes little time to integrate with your app and be up and running. It adds additional DNS features to your virtual network, such as DNS filtering for security.
  • DNS Filtration.
  • Provides extra layer of security.
  • Increases website loading time.
  • The record set search can improve.
  • Azure DNS comes at an extra cost, Need to decrease some cost.
  • Better dashboard needed with all the details availability.
Using Azure DNS, you can easily and quickly deploy and manage your domain DNS. It's been an excellent introduction to our web services requirements. It offers all services on a single platform and integrates with other applications. It not only offers DNS services for websites but also for your applications.

So basically, all our infrastructure is on Azure, so it makes sense to use the Native DNS (Azure DNS) for all our domain resolution services. We use its both public and private variants. Public for our public-facing websites and private for all our internal resources such as VMs and private links/Endpoints.
  • The Azure Private DNS has an option for automatic mapping which creates a DNS record automatically for all the resources in a particular Vnet, and adds new DNS entries for whenever a new resource is created.
  • The DNS entries can be shared between different VNets automatically and there is no need for manually populating it or syncing it with different networks.
  • The mapping or records is very easy as the target/source/backend is automatically populated and there is no need to keep those IP addresses handy instead you can map them using their name.
  • I honestly haven't faced a single issue while using Azure DNS as a whole.
  • I did face some issues while using it with Azure Front door but it was because of an automatic population of records by the front door and nothing that Azure DNS could have done in that case.
If you have your environment in Azure then Azure private DNS is the best DNS solution as it will do everything for you and you don't have to manage anything in the DNS apart from the initial configuration.
The propagation time for the Public DNS is also fast and doesn't take up hours for DNS record changes to reflect, but that also depends on the TTL.

The Azure DNS server has good performance, is very reliable, and had an easy setup process, compared to other previous software. This tool helps us to manage traffic, and have full control of it. It supports our IT team with load balancing tests, and it also helps us to get enhanced security.
  • Load balancing
  • security and boot traffic blocks
  • Manage overall traffic
  • better dashboards
  • faster response time
  • frequent updates
Azure DNS is great to cover our security concerns and for blocking boots, which seems to happen quite often. It is a great tool to help us monitor and manage traffic and also track performance based on different benchmarks.
Sometimes there are software updates that we'd like to see less of, but overall the IT team has been happy with this since implementation onwards.

  • DNS queries relay on Microsoft Global Network and maximum reachable to all ISP's
  • Fast DNS queries & Simple implementation
  • High Secure & High Availability
  • Azure DNS can hold private Zones
  • Provides Name Resolutions using Microsoft Infrastructure
  • Not required to manage server to run this Azure Service
  • Simple DNS queries and fast apply
  • Secure & High Available
  • Custom DNS quires can possible . No complex policies
We have build Ubuntu server for our client construction commerce website with marketing & other lead forms pushed data to website. The DNS Name Service must resolve at local networks without any DNS interruptions. Where as Azure DNS service available based on regions and separated by Zones. We opted Azure DNS service and update our required DNS records which propagates with less TTL at local networks. Because this feature our website data update properly which pushed from different lead forms.

Azure DNS is helping us with domain management, which can often times be cumbersome. Azure DNS lets you manage it through the same portal. There is high server reliability and azure provides fast DNS and also masks the IP address. This is beneficial as you face fewer DDoS attacks.
  • User interface is easy to use
  • Detects ISP change fast
  • Easy purchase - both domain and DNS management can be bought from the same portal
  • Availability of advanced management
  • Fast and Reliable
  • Filtering for PCs and servers can be improved
  • Advanced management portal comes at a cost
Azure is best suited to mid-large scale companies who have good spending power. The features and services justify the costs. However, for smaller companies, the cost can be prohibitive.

Managing DNS domains is simple as everything is handled through a single portal. External management isn't required at all. Maintaining and calculating company assets is easy using Azure.

It helps detect and monitor intrusions to our multi tenant cloud environment. We solve several business problems that Azure DNS addresses include the need to manage DNS domains and records efficiently, the need to scale DNS infrastructure as the organization grows, and the need to ensure high availability and reliability of DNS services.
  • managing multiple DNS
  • uptime and onboarding
  • mapping of multiple dns
DNS domains in Azure and managing DNS records using the Azure portal, organizations can simplify the process of managing their DNS infrastructure and make it easier to scale and maintain their DNS domains. It is good for a smaller organization that is trying to scale up to meet specific demands.

We are consulting other companies [on] how to use Azure and in special cases, we take over the operation of Azure DNS if there are no particular administrators with the client companies that are experienced enough with Azure DNS. Our company uses Azure DNS itself, but this is not operated from Germany.
  • organizational overview
  • secure operation
  • easy to learn for operators with knowledge
  • the operation speed could be faster
  • the behavior in different browsers could be better
Well, there is only one scenario where Azure DNS is well suited and that is if you are using Azure.

We have several domains on NurulQuran.com. It gives the admin to set a specific TTL time which can be from seconds to 3550 weeks. We have simple setup of sub-domains and a cname. Records can be easily added and deleted. There are activity reports and stats that can give an indepth picture of your DNS activity.
  • Portal interface for adding DNS records
  • Can specify any TTL
  • Statistics on the DNS Records
  • Easier to use Portal
If you need something simple, there are other tools that are free and more basic. Azure gives metrics, alerts, and a lot more fine tuning of DNS records. Uptime and speed make Azure a good choice for your cloud servers. If you have a lot of VPS's in Azure, then it puts the CLI and the portal in one place.
