BambooHR is used at my organization to assist with employee onboarding, training organization, hiring via indeed, time off and PTO utilization, employee recognition, holidays, understanding who is off at what time, compensation rates, documents that are needing signature, and employee contact information. We use several features and just started in January but have truly enjoyed the efficiency thus far.

We use BambooHR as our HRIS. It serves as the central location for employee records, and as a repository for forms, documents, benefit information and more. We recently added the Performance Management module and the time tracking module. We wanted a "one stop shop" for all HR related "things" for ease of use.

We use BambooHR to calculate holidays, see the organization structure, and see who is in and out for the day. It also tells us who joined recently and whose birthday it is. It's also used to send leave requests, and we get notified via email about the approvals; we also do performance reviews through this portal.

BambooHR is useful in giving insight into the organization structure; if you want to see who is in a particular team or who you can reach out to in case someone is on leave, the team structure and the manager/ peers can be viewed easily. This feature is handy. I am unsure of how appropriate the birthday feature is. The whole organization may not want to know someone's birthday unless they are on your team.

We use Bamboo for SO much. Payroll, PTO, stored documents, etc. It works so well for our company as we navigate 4 sub-companies. It works really well for PTO requests and accrual. I never have to try and remember complicated information regarding that which is super nice.

BambooHR has been a solid blanket HR solution for us. It provides the basics of managing our prospective hires and active employees, but it also goes far beyond that. It stores our HR documentation records, emergency contact information, personnel data, and work histories. It has a thorough system that allows for easy changes to job roles with an extensive history system. It allows us to manage hierarchies in multiple departments very easily. We also use it for managing time-off requests and time balances. It integrates with our scheduling solution, Deputy, behind the scenes in a seamless way thanks to its API features.
  • It provides an extensive system for setting up time off accruals and managing their balances.
  • It has a powerful system for managing user permissions to allow supervisors access to necessary areas and limit the access of employees.
  • It provides a very useful set of auditing tools and reports, both for tracking changes to employee profiles and who made the changes.
  • It has a clean UI that makes it easy for less tech-savvy users to interact with their HR data.
  • It could use the ability to create default profile settings for new employees to allow them to default to having certain time off and permissions settings.
  • The API could use some more work on the time tracking side of things. It is very limited in that area.
  • The reporting is not as user-friendly as it could be and can feel tedious for less tech-savvy HR users.
Overall BambooHr has excelled in satisfying our needs. It performs well as a one-stop-shop for HR challenges. It has benefitted us as an excellent repository for personnel information both in processing prospective and new hires, as well as existing employees. It provides a fairly simple, but [the] straightforward system for managing and using time off. Some areas do need some work, however. There is no ability to set up a default set of time-off types/accruals for a new hire, which means this has to be done manually for each new employee. This creates a lot of opportunities for human error. It also has a very opaque and unhelpful API when it comes to the management of the time data; Whereas the rest of the API is exceptional. Lastly, the ability to request time off only allows for a flat number of hours in a day; it doesn't allow the employee to request specific times. As a result, we rely on the employee and manager to communicate the time successfully in the notes field. There is a big difference between arriving 1 hour late, leaving 1 hour early, and stepping out for an extended lunch.

We used BambooHR as our HRIS. We managed recruitment and hiring, new employee onboarding, existing employee training and development, and facilitated employee leave policies via BambooHR. BambooHR was our one-stop-shop for everything HR-related. All our team managers used it to keep track of their teams and who needed leave when. Our recruitment team used BambooHR exclusively to facilitate hundreds of new hires across multiple departments.

  • Create easy-to-use onboarding and offboarding templates for new and existing employees.
  • For a non-US-based company, BambooHR can be on the pricey side billing per user per month.
  • We managed to figure out how to set up the various features we wanted within BambooHR and their online help directory was useful but it would've been nice to have more onboarding support from their onboarding team.
Easy to set up and use for medium to large enterprises. You're able to run any and all HR-related administration through BambooHRs one-stop-shop platform. Small enterprises will find BambooHR on the pricey side of things.

Here at Dashlane, we use BambooHR to store all our employee information and use their organization chart to make it easy to find out who is reporting to who. This information is also imported into Small Improvements, which is our tool that we use to help facilitate our feedback checkpoints during the performance review process. We heavily rely on BambooHR to make it easy to control all this data, from a user's first day until we off-board them from our company.
  • Simple UI - Easy for everyone to use and understand, no matter what they are using it for.
  • Clear documentation - Their API documentation is easy to read and makes it easy to know what is and isn't achievable.
  • Integrations with other products - Being able to automatically sync with Small Improvements makes our lives much easier.
  • Lack of features - BambooHR does everything well, but as a user of the platform, it. doesn't do much more than organize our companies directory.
  • Not natural to use some features - At Dashlane, we don't have any need to use the Announcements or Approval features of BambooHR. I don't know why exactly, but we use other platforms to handle this for us.
If a company doesn't already have an easy way to onboard, keep track and organize their employees on a directory, I would highly recommend they use BambooHR. As a user, it isn't very difficult to get used to and I find myself looking at it often to make sure I remember who is on what team and who is their manager. I also use it during the onboarding process as a manager, making my life easier to get my new hires into the directory and begin getting them the access they need within the rest of our company.

We use BambooHR as our HRIS and ATS. This includes recruitment, onboarding, time-off management, employee files, and off-boarding. We also have it set up with reminders for birthdays, anniversaries, and performance reviews.
  • The on-boarding process is streamlined with a great user experience.
  • The time off management is quick and easy.
  • Files can be added and organized easily.
  • There is limited reporting for the ATS.
  • There is a performance management module, but it is not very customizable.
  • The engagement survey is just the eNPS question. This does not allow us to ask different questions.
BambooHR is great for small companies that want to reduce administrative time and improve candidate and employee experience. As an organization grows and becomes more complex, there are some limitations that need workarounds, perhaps by purchasing more specialized software that integrates.

BambooHR is the single resource for all things HR - midway reviews, requesting time off (including parental leave, jury duty, sick leave, vacation, etc.). We are able to set goals for ourselves to stay on track as well as see any limitations that an employee may have for specific events such as allergies and flight preferences! It’s the single resource that allows us to have all of this information about an employee in one spot. We remain organized and in “the know”.

  • Provides employee info such as address/preferences.
  • Allows employees to set goals for themselves.
  • The Home Screen could be “better”… it feels busy.
BambooHR is appropriate for companies with 100+ employees to keep track of everyone. It allows for organizations to keep everyone in one place with all of their info that may be needed. Companies with smaller head-counts won't have much use for this type of more extreme organization. Growing companies can utilize this early on to prepare for future growth.

I use BambooHR on a daily basis. It allows me to not only keep track of my personal vacation days but also helps me keep track of my team's scheduled vacations. It makes it very easy to approve requested vacation days. It also creates a nice directory of the entire company.

I have used BambooHR for two small businesses (legal services and construction). The first was an existing business that had no electronic HR processes or software and the second was a start-up. BambooHR is used for full employee life-cycle management, time tracking, performance management, applicant tracking, and benefits management.
  • BambooHR has a top-notch electronic onboarding process. It is fully customizable and works very well with applicants of all technological capabilities. Onboarding allows you to add every step the new employee and the business partners must complete through timed, dated, notifications, digital documents, e-signatures, and a back-end administrative ability to follow up.
  • BambooHR has good applicant tracking system. They currently integrate with indeed and ZipRecruiter. However, it is easy to create links for other platforms with the ability to distinguish where you are getting recruiting traction. In addition the ability to rate, and communicate about an applicant is confidential between the hiring managers and HR. Also, there is an easy way to create a candidate pool of eligible candidates for later passive recruiting, that is called Talent Pools.
  • BambooHR has a unique feature called Announcements. This function allows various announcements to go out via email, through the application, or a combination of both to directed target audiences or the entire company.
  • BambooHR also sends out announcements (customizable) on every new hire. This allows folks to see who is starting and learn a bit about them before they meet them.
  • BambooHR has a great function for tracking time by the task or job. This is great for tracking productivity gaps for administrative positions or job costing for positions that have billable hours.
  • BambooHR also has easy to organize digital documents. You can easily upload documents via drop and drag. Documents can be added to folders and then downloaded later if an employee terminates.
  • Goal in performance management are very good, they follow the SMART methodology but there is no way to attach them to a performance review. They do allow the employee to adjust using a slide bar and you can attach people to a goal. In addition it notifies the supervisor but you cannot shut off notifications.
  • BambooHR really needs to improve their time tracking. Hours need to be shown by weekly total or at least have the option. The employees should have to actually approve their time and then if they need a change go in and approve it again. This would create a better audit trail to print for DOL claims that an employer is messing with a timecard without having to keep separate documentation that a request was being made. In addition, if you pull a payroll report, the totals don't always calculate correctly. They either need to show the rounding or show the full digits.
  • The onboarding and offboarding processes need to hold to email until the user finishes customizing the tasks to be sent. When the tasks are all set up ahead and then backed out by person hired, they should not go out until they are finished being adjusted. Currently as soon as you import, it notifies the person assigned to the task.
  • Former employees should have access to the system for at least three years. There is no reason we should have to manually give them documents such as pay statements, or W-2s manually.
  • BambooHR needs to have better search options, you should be able to search by nickname, maiden name, social security, birthday, etc.
  • Recently bambooHR added the ability to organize employee documents by folder, but they took the ability to download documents en mass. They need to add that back. It is a very difficult to download folder by folder.
  • BambooHR shows all birthday in a rolling format on the home page. This is great, but they should only show 10-30 days before and after (customer choice). When you have limited employees a birthday can show up months ahead.
  • They have a signed documents report to track and remind those who have not yet signed digital documents. However, it would be better if you had an option to notify supervisors when they are dragging their heels. In addition, there needs to be a way to archive the document list when completed and create a new one by date even if you are using the same document. This is an absolute cluttered mess and very messy to track and follow up on. DocuSign does it much better.
  • There needs to be a way to pull a payroll report with salaries and standard hours for exempt employees with the hourly employees. Trax is not always a payroll option and you need a way to pull a report looking for variances.
  • Performance management is weak. You cannot customize it at all. It only fits the functionality they want you to use.
  • Benefits stink if you have more than one option per benefit. They really need to upgrade this function. Report data is garbage.
  • The time accruals show rounded totals and allow employees to go negative. Customer service thinks it is bad idea to stop an employee from going negative in their time off. This should be the customer's choice. They refuse to change this function.
BambooHR is a great starter HRIS for new companies or ones who have never used an HRIS. It is a good tool for the employee life-cycle, but weak in performance management and benefits. I send enhancement requests almost daily. I often ask customer service is their own HR department uses this because it sure doesn't seem as productive as it could be. BambooHR often will tell you when making inquiries to find out if they can enhance a feature that if you don't like it, find a new product. The CEO has often said he cares more about employees than customers, because if they are happy the customers will be happy. This is indicative of the lack of real change and the lame 30-30 monthly promos that attempt to suggest changes are being made when no productive changes really every happen.

I use BambooHR to keep track of my time off accrued, sick days, holidays, etc --- anything to do with time off from work is kept in here. If I have to take a sick day or submit time off using my PTO, I'm immediately going into BambooHR. I also use it to see which holidays we already have off and are observed, as well as keep track of what I'll accrue upcoming.

If a team is not tracking PTO, maybe part-time employment, I don't know if there would be much use for them. It's hard for me to imagine a company that wouldn't be a good fit.

We use BambooHR in our organization for almost all employee data management such as org structure, compensation and benefits, documents, vacation and leave, etc... We have had the benefit of being able to combine numerous platforms into BambooHR and reduce our tech stack for employee management as it covers all of our organizational needs.
  • User-friendly UI for both administrators and users, there's no learning curve, everything is thoughtfully laid out.
  • Ease of navigation for new and experienced users alike.
  • The mobile app is very clean and easy to use, most of our employees use this to book time off.
  • We don't find it to be as customizable as other solutions but it is more robust.
BambooHR allowed our organization to consolidate our tech stack and get rid of several other products that performed similar functions to BambooHR, but none had this tool's depth. It has allowed us to bring several different functions into one place, which has made it a lot easier for our admin team to manage. BambooHR is a full service that covers all our organizational needs, given that we're ~100 employees now. We don't foresee the need to move from this platform, given how scalable it is.

BambooHR is a great piece of software for small business needs that allows your team to be agile and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of the business world. There are a lot of very good software companies for Human Resources that exist, but BambooHR has been a great one for our business for the time that we did use it.

  • Pricing.
  • Reporting.
  • Dashboards.
We used but ultimately have switched away from BambooHR. When we used them they solved a lot of the issues we had running an operation of 60+ users. However, some of the reporting, customization through the limited payroll providers, and other smaller issues lead us to change our software in the last year or so. The pricing was also less competitive with the sometimes lackluster integrations and reporting they allowed at the base level.

Bamboo is used by the whole organization for Human Resource purposes. It stores all employee information and helps keep track of vacations and other time-off-related information. It is also used to manage digital signatures for important documents that need to be signed. It is also being used to keep track of each employee's development.

Additionally, the information regarding my time is easy to understand as it keeps a record of all the days off I've taken in the past. I think it is very appropriate for HR purposes and really, I can't think of any scenarios where it wouldn't be appropriate to use it.

But it needed to improvise for large-scale operations.

You can easily look through the Company's org chart, search for people, get some announcements, request a day off, etc. BambooHR helps you with your day-by-day human resources routines.

For me personally, it lacks some functionality to process some surveys and feedbacks customly, including NPS for example, or other metrics to measure the pulse in dynamics.

BambooHR has a ton of different features to solve common human resources tasks, like performance reviews and employee onboarding/off boarding. The platform is managed by our People Ops department, and they get by great without technical assistance. Every employee uses BambooHR to book their time off, view the org chart, etc.
  • The org chart is excellent, with multiple views and a responsive experience.
  • The ability to create alerts/reminders for employees is very powerful and can be used to automate many workflows.
  • It's a generally enjoyable web app to use with a clean UI and responsive performance.
  • Some edge cases aren't as fleshed out. For example, asset inventory management isn't something BambooHR can really excel at currently.
  • Something akin to Google Forms but with the privacy protections of being already in the HRIS would be great for collecting anonymized responses.
I think BambooHR is an excellent product for companies from small to moderately large. It is easily manageable by a competent human resources department and provides robust functionality in the areas that you care most. Don't ask it to go too far out of it's lane, such as trying to implement your asset inventory via custom fields. Overall, an excellent product.

Thanks to the ergonomics of BambooHR, it is not difficult at all to adapt to the process of creating lists with employee data, to access them easily, thus ensuring fast and more comfortable operations than with average HHRR services. Our management as a human resources department has improved a lot thanks to its implementation. We believe BambooHR has one of the best developed customer support oriented platforms available in general human resources management, with a highly trained team available around the clock to answer our questions about operations using the service. We have found BambooHR to be a very welcoming HR operations-oriented service, with easy-to-define contact integration mechanics to external platforms, and learning to use it does not seem to require any amount of prior experience on our part.
  • BambooHR provides very intuitive self-service tools, allowing our employees and applicants to attach all their contact data, or do their own skills analysis, thus saving enough time in the long run to improve the average interview and hiring speed.
  • BambooHR is well automated, facilitating our operations when working with the process of registering new applicants from search engines, and thanks to its talent measurement tools, it is possible to calculate early which prospects would be the best.
  • BambooHR is an ideal service for the development of reports with group data, since it allows us to include the number of employees added to our staff. Diagrams of different types can be added to these same reports depending on the type of work being carried out.
  • The ease of analytics for hiring planning makes it much less complex and professional than other HHRR services, which is useful when working on employee experience reports during the hiring process to ensure that company protocol parameters are being met.
  • It's nice that BambooHR can be integrated with social media, as employee interaction reports on Facebook or Instagram can be shared through social media. BambooHR lets us know appropriately when a message arrives on these social networks thanks to its message alarm system.
  • In the area of human resources, BambooHR is easily the one with the most options when working with time tracking, where you can make annotations of incidents, and these in turn can be noted in reports that reflect the performance of each worker.
  • BambooHR does not have its own internal chat service, which shows several limitations when you need to work with live comments within the platform. In fact, it is very non-interactive, which limits our direct communication methodology.
  • BambooHR cannot be integrated with office software that specializes in payroll work, which would be excellent when it comes to letting us manage employee payments, and not leaving us with the need to integrate with payroll services.
  • It is a bit difficult to communicate from BambooHR, since the service limits the communication tools of the team by not having chat or instant messaging services without the need to work with an integration that specializes in just that.
BambooHR is recommended because it has many stable cloud integrations, streamlining the storage of employee and applicant information in the cloud of our choice, which makes us not worry about the security of our work content and daily reports. It is excellent for planning the creation of new format schedules for employee documents, depending on whether you are working with integrations to sales services, making sure that the work is varied enough and that you are using your own branding image. It is very productive in cross-referencing employee data within reports. That is, in combining and comparing results to create more complete analyses, creating workgroups depending on the type of project to be used, so that the HHRR department is the decision-maker.

BambooHR is used across our entire organization. We utilize the software to track who is out of the office, anniversaries, and other milestones. It also houses our personal job information (title, level, pay, insurance elections, and emergency contacts).
  • It's great to see a quick calendar of who on your team or in your department is out of the office on a given day.
  • You can easily look up information on your direct reports. If you need to look at their salary as it relates to benchmarking, it's quickly accessible.
  • You can readily find out who on your team is coming up on a work anniversary or birthday soon and make sure to give them recognition.
  • The insurance information it shows is pretty high level and it doesn't easily show you your elections.
  • You're reliant on upline managers or HR to add detailed information, so at times it can be unclear as to why a certain change was made.
Bamboo is at its best when it's being utilized to find high-level information. The drop-off comes with the features that rely on input from upline managers or HR. If you need to recall a direct report's salary, when making raise adjustments relative to a set pool of allocated money, BambooHR is a great tool. If you need to see what your current premiums are for your own insurance, you're better off looking elsewhere.

BambooHR could be considered one of the most extensive and practical human resource management services when working with employees, whether they are candidates to work within the company or regular time employees who require administrative desert on our part. BambooHR is shown as a simple service when it comes to manage the views of employees or their activity during the hours of service, in order to evaluate them properly and offer a better administrative management of the payments that will be made in exchange for these hours. It integrates very well with employee search boards, allowing us to get the most suitable information for our company based on the parameters we set, and thus the results are prospects to employees who are more likely to meet the profile we want to get for the company. The platform has a very convenient chart creator, which allows to implement all kinds of information of the employees added to the company, such as the number of absences that have been reflected in our employee record detector, which is used for each worker to record their arrival time for the day. The BPM system can not only be used to cover online work operations, but also those that are carried out in person, in a face-to-face manner. This feature is what makes BambooHR such a versatile service for large businesses that require a lot of staff, such as supermarkets or government activities.
  • BambooHR has the ability to connect to cloud services to store working hours information on the web. This information is easily accessible once the platform has been connected to the cloud and the security parameters have been configured so that only a certain group of selected people can review them.
  • BambooHR also integrates with CRM services, so that contact management tools can be used to reach employees more quickly, making it a less time consuming process to interact and communicate with them regarding work and deliverables. in any case, this compatibility can be used to streamline work in general.
  • BambooHR has an excellent application for tracking the activity of our employees, which we use to review their progress and any mistakes they may make, and correct them well in advance. otherwise not doing this would risk the information in the reports not being correct and being sent out, causing problems.
  • Using BambooHR turned out to be much easier than we expected at first, considering that our company is relatively new and we had not used a software specialized in human resources before. We are satisfied with the use of the service and can proceed to recommend it to the entire community of human resources managers.
  • We have liked this support service more than usual, as their representatives are other human resources workers with extensive experience in the area, and they are in charge of offering high-level advice regarding any of the topics we wish to address with the platform and the administrative tools it offers.
  • In case you are working with spreadsheets, BambooHR does not update the information if you have any integration to web services, as in the case of Google spreadsheets, or Microsoft Excel extension, which practically conditions our way of working with these documents.
  • The databases used within the platform are generally SQL, which leaves aside databases from services such as MongoDB, which work with chained data to obtain different characteristics of movement and transfer of information. We believe that the platform is not good for creating a schema based on information from such data lists that we can include in our self-service oriented operations.
  • The sending of e-mails is also quite limited by the platform, as it does not allow us to send e-mails simultaneously to all delegated workers in our staff. Because of this, the process of sending invitations to special work sessions is more difficult.
Since it shows all the results performed during the recruitment processes, it would be quite useful to implement BambooHR in order to get new employees and to be able to gradually create a fully modern network, with a constantly updated staff of employees who can bring in fresh ideas. Is recommended to work extensively with large lists of personnel reports, which could be useful for human resources departments that focus on generating payments to employees based on their work capacity. Basically it is useful for payroll departments (in the area of human resources accounting) of large companies with different branches. Since it unifies the information of all employees of a given branch or franchise, it could be used to access the employee records of the whole company, and check if employees have had the opportunity to work in another branch. This way, if required, the employee could be changed for another one, as a rotation, and a generalist work network could be created, where each branch has the same methodologies.

BambooHR is used by the entire organization as the primary HR Management system. The system manages the onboarding, offboarding and job information for all of the company's employees.

BambooHR is used across our organization for onboarding, as well as facilitating employee records, reviews, time-off management, document management, pay stubs, and payroll processing.

  • Payroll Processing is an add on, and that has issues.
  • It cannot split multi-department roles for employees who hold dual roles with different department classifications.
  • Bamboo HR is great for mid-sized companies who want to eliminate paper and utilize electronic document management, handbook roll-outs, tax forms, etc. Also great for performance reviews, and peer feedback with customizable questions and data analysis. Onboarding is a great user experience and allows HR administrative staff to complete almost all necessary documentation without requiring direct meetings with the new hire.
  • As the Payroll Processing feature is an add on there are some issues with the intuitiveness of payroll processing; therefore, it still requires a fairly manual overview. Also, there are account reps that have to push the payroll itself through after the company has submitted it. If there are changes in job classification, deductions, etc. what is updated on the bamboo HR side does not always cross over to the Payroll side, which is why a thorough review is required every payroll processing cycle.

We use BambooHR to track vacation days/sick days, all paperwork associated to the job, employee directories, etc. It is convenient because it houses all information in one place.
  • Directory of all employees - I like that you can search by name or view the department hierarchy.
  • Holds important documentation for me in one place.
  • The birthdays/work anniversary feature is fun.
  • It can be a little confusing to find specific pages within my profile.
I have nothing to compare BambooHR to in terms of other HR platforms. It's not flashy, it's just efficient and effective at what it is.
