Bomgar is the primary support application for remote access at our organization. While the IS department are the primary users, we have setup accounts for other departments to use for remote training and support of enterprise applications. The ability to provide support across platforms, across networks, and support varied access levels has been a key driver of the application's internal popularity and effectiveness.
  • Persistent sessions (remains active through a reboot)
  • Good performance over low bandwidth lines. We use the application on computers in Brazil and Asia with better than expected performance.
  • Permissions management. Users can provide credentials for work on other machines if they are not admins.
  • Mobile remote control, especially iOS
  • Integration in other applications, ie, ticket tracking apps
  • Reporting and metrics
We have yet to find a one to one remote access need where Bomgar was not appropriate.

We started out using our BOMGAR for just our area. Because of how fantastic it is, we are now using it across multiple areas of our campus. The main issue for us is that we are spread out over a large number of acres, we have MANY buildings and we just took away administrator rights from every user. Having the ability to do interactive remote desktop in an easy and secure way was solved by buying our BOMGAR.
  • It does interactive remote desktop and it does an amazing job of it.
  • It also allows us to use chat with the users we support. Some of them are more comfortable with that than using email, phone or stopping by our help desk.
  • I would really like to see BOMGAR add the ability for more custom branding by our organization. I realize their blazing ORANGE is their brand, but we'd like to modify the portal our users visit with our own branding.
The only question you need to ask is if you want to run your help desk the right way. If you do, then buy BOMGAR. It is really the only way to do a help desk right.

Love Bomgar - it is perfect for what we need. Bomgar is being used for connecting to customers with ease and transferring data.
  • Being able to connect to customers easily.
  • Transferring files without fuss.
  • The Screen shot feature is excellent.
  • The ability to have pinned sessions un-install after a pre-determined amount of time.
I think Bomgar is an excellent addition to any support team. It makes the whole process of supporting customers so much easier. The ability to transfer / share sessions is excellent as it enables us to assist new staff so they are able to see how more in depth issues are resolved.

Bomgar is used by the IT Services department for supporting students and staff over a geographically dispersed university. It has allowed a small technical team the flexibility to support our users and each other and meet the ever-growing needs of the university. It also provides transparency and security as all sessions are recorded. Without this product our teams would not have been able to meet the demands of the University in a difficult time for the sector.
  • Ease of use for remoting into devices on and off the domain. It links in with RDP and vPro as well as allowing remote view and control sessions. This covers all the bases for our support needs.
  • Allows us to support Windows, Mac and remote devices all with one stable product. Training is available so that all our technicians are up to speed.
  • Vendors and embassies can be added, allowing access for suppliers and vendors to complete work with a reduced risk to the environment.
  • Some Servicedesk products can link into Bomgar, allowing even easier access to the service from a service desk product that the teams use constantly.
  • I have had very few problems with Bomgar, it is had to pick negatives. We have purchased two devices to make the service highly available - however the switch over is not seamless, as we need to alter DNS and manually bring the hot standby device up to take the work. This may be more our environment than the product to be fair!
We specifically wanted a product that could allow us to support mobile devices and all platforms. Bomgar met this need admirably, provided training to be sure that we were getting every benefit from the system, and indeed introduced us to more features than we knew we needed.

Embassy access is very useful and the ability to call colleagues in other teams into support sessions has been imeasurably helpful. I think that this product is very well suited to the education sector, where a wide variety of devices and platforms need to be supported by small teams at a moment's notice

Bomgar is used as a remote desktop support tool. It provides a portal so users can easily click your name and you can securely access their computer to help them with any issues they are running into on their computer. It can easily be used while you're on the phone with customer and is a quick easy way to connect to their computer with the simple use of a web browser.
  • Let's inexperienced users connect to a support technician.
  • Provides multiple ways for users to connect to a remote technician via their browser.
  • Works across multiple platforms for compatibility (PC to Mac, etc.)
  • Offers a file transfer feature if files need to be exchanged.
  • Better remote access compatibilit with the Windows Security account manager, when SAM is encountered currently the screen goes blank.
  • Better file sharing ability, it is very slow compared to other file transfer forms.
  • Improve upon mobile functionality.
Do you have any other remote troubleshooting tools? If an agent is running on a computer that may allow faster access, but if users have no relation to the Bomgar support person they're calling it is a great feature to help support technicians quickly connect to end users who need help.

Connect with Bomgar!

We use Bomgar across the whole company. It allows us to support our 950 end users and 55 servers remotely, and safely. It's also convenient. It integrates with our Dell KACE management system which we use for inventory, software deployment and ticketing. We can send an invitation to connect directly from a ticket, but that's only one way to connect. We can also guide users to our Bomgar appliance website, give them a 'Bomgar button' to click, and install jump clients for unattended access. We also use the Embassy system to allow vendors onto our servers if need be.
  • Jump clients - these allow us unattended access to servers and client machines. We always have the user's permission first.
  • Integration with KACE - we love how we can simply check a box (when working on a Service Desk ticket) and the invitation to connect is delivered upon saving the ticket.
  • The ability to fully manage Android devices. We can partially manage iOS - and create profiles for specific items (VPN, email, etc.) as well.
  • It does occasionally drop connection or freeze.
Bomgar support has been fantastic. Since I manage the device I do have to contact them periodically for upgrades or minor glitches. Bomgar may not be well suited for an extremely small shop, mostly because of the const involved.

We use it daily for over 450 clients with a four person IT department. Our facility supports BYOD and this has helped us remain HIPAA compliant within federal guidelines. I can't express how much we love being able to use this product from any location. We are able to support any device from the comfort of our home, or even on vacation. It has saved us time and money by cutting travel time to all our location. We record sessions and use them for training purposes. The ability to use short and long term access for outside vendors is one of my favorite features. If you haven't looked into what Bomgar can do for you, I suggest you give it a try. Best remote support product, from a person who has used several, this is the most user friendly by far!
  • User friendly interface all located on one appliance we house locally.
  • The ability to view detailed reports on extended user access with outside vendors aren't forthcoming when they fix an issue. We have saved time and money by not waiting for them to tell us what they did. As well as make sure they did not access items that did not pertain to their software.
  • LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dell Kace integration and the option to push the jump clients out into our inventory very easily.
  • I've worked with this appliance and software for a year and can honestly say I haven't found one issue with it. It just keeps getting better and better!
Weather you are a small business that does lots of contract work or a large company, this product can service any facet of your remote support needs.

We use Bomgar across our entire organization to support both staff and IT systems, onsite and remotely. We have deployed Jump Clients extensively to enable on-demand, persistent remote access, and we also use it to support mobile users as needed. Bomgar helped us to reduce the number of site visits necessary to fully support our users, allowing us to spend more time working on solutions and less on fixing problems.
  • The Bomgar Jump Client functionality is fantastic at providing persistent remote access to machines. We have deployed the agent on every machine we can because it's lightweight, installs quickly, and is unobtrusive. From the console, we can access any machine running the agent with the click of a button, no user interaction required. It's great for when we want to see a problem someone is trying to describe to us over the phone, as well as when we need to remotely access a machine, like a server or dedicated workstation at a remote site.
  • Bomgar is wonderful when you're giving presentations - previously we had to do trials of Webex whenever the need came up, but it's part of the Bomgar system and works like a charm.
  • Bomgar does really well at adding value to their product. They release minimum quarterly updates to it, with new features added all the time. The presentation functionality was one of the new features last year and has made a huge impact on our work. A lot of vendors add little 'who cares' features here and there so they can say they are improving the product, but Bomgar actually does improve the product each time.
  • The only place I can think of where Bomgar could improve is to allow mixing of licenses on the appliance. We purchased Enterprise licenses to get the vPro functionality, but not all of our support reps need it. It would be nice to be able to buy standard licenses that elevated to Enterprise if someone needed that functionality and an Enterprise license was available.
Bomgar has a hosted and onsite version of their server/appliance so the only situation where it is not a great fit is when the person/organization wants something for nothing. Bomgar is not an expensive solution, but it's also not free. We replaced several other remote solutions with it so I know it's a great fix for multiple scenarios.

Bomgar is being used as our chat support platform for all of our University's faculty, staff, and students as well as a tool for providing remote support to this same group of people. We have integrated the remote support feature with our Cherwell Service Management tool which allows remote session data to be quickly and easily integrated with work tickets. Currently just our IT department is using the product, but we are looking to branch out to areas on campus that have vendor support for equipment and other technologies that rely on the vendor to have access to equipment and systems on the University network. Bomgar solves the business problems of security and integration. Because Bomgar is an appliance based tool, we are protected by our internal security structure and can be assured that the remote sessions are safe and because it so easily integrates with our support tool, it takes less time for updating work tickets and allows our technicians to keep working.
  • Security - as I mentioned previously, the appliance based tool really allows for the remote and chat sessions to be extremely secure. This is important at our University where we have specialized health related academic areas that deal with HIPAA related data.
  • Easily Customizeable (not really a word) - It is super easy to configure and set up the Bomgar appliance and portal. The easy-to-navigate web pages allow you to make custom changes per user or group and allows for customization of group policies and session policies. There a lot of options and features to really make the experience the way you want it.
  • Ease of Use - Bomgar is really easy to use and become familiar with. I have trained many technicians on how to use Bomgar and they all have commented on how simple it is to do a remote session. Even getting our end users to use the chat feature is super simple as well.
  • Tablet remote control sessions are somewhat limited to what you can do in a remote session. Understandably, some of this is due to the maker of the tablet, but having more control of these devices would be helpful.
  • More advanced reporting options would be helpful to really show the use of the product to higher ups who want to see utilization of a product.
  • Reduce the cost of licenses.
Is it safe to use in HIPAA or FERPA areas to protect data from being stolen? How many users can be remote controlled at once by a single representative? It is really nice when outside vendors can be added to a remote session to provide additional help with an application or hardware that they provide to the University.

We use Bomgar to provide remote IT support to our clients across the nation. Bomgar has allowed us to be a successful managed support provider.
  • Recorded Sessions: Allows us to review our technicians work and protects us from false accusations.
  • File Sharing: Allows our technicians to easily share files with our customers when necessary.
  • Desktop Support: The remote support tools far exceed any other solution we have utilized in the past. We haven't found anything this software can't do.
  • I would like to be able to access "Pinned" sessions more quickly. Sometimes connecting to a workstation takes several seconds and we would prefer it be more instant.
  • I would like to be able to connect anonymously when we need to.
I can only speak for remote support as that is the only way we are currently utilizing the software. We haven't gotten into the presentation aspects of the software. With that said, the software contains everything a growing or enterprise support company could need.

Currently used by ICT to remotely manage users PC's and mobile devices including tablets. It allows us to connect to users machines or mobile devices whether they are on the university network or not. This allows us to connect and support home workers and researchers in different countries.
  • Remote control of PC's, the best product on the market in my opinion.
  • Security, located in our DMZ and providing 2 factor authentication if required its a secure solution.
  • Elevation to admin session without having to log off of a remote session.
  • Deployment of Bomgar Button on all PC's Desktops to enable users to easily request support.
  • Customisable to meet your specific security needs and able to customise to suit your resource constraints to have automatic queuing or session key required sessions.
  • Surveys and reporting are really valuable to obtain feedback from end users on how they value the sessions.
  • It would be really nice to be able to more easily add sound to presentations.

Bomgar is used for implementation, training, and support of our own software programs and accompanying hardware devices. We generally begin all new implementations by pulling client data over to our company intranet. We then use the Bomgar connection to run training sessions and complete the implementation process. Our customers contact us for assistance at times, and it helps to have Bomgar on hand to share their screen while troubleshooting. Bomgar is also used by our salespeople for giving demonstrations of our programs to potential clients.
  • Bomgar provides numerous options for gathering data on connected devices. Our technicians are able to get as much or little system information as they need, which is extremely helpful when troubleshooting.
  • Bomgar offers data transfer options. This is a big deal for support, as it allows us to pass documentation or pull over faulty program components for repair.
  • Bomgar handles bandwidth limitations very well. The technician is able to increase or reduce bandwidth usage in order to sacrifice graphic speed for usability. For many of our clients, providing support would not be as simple if we did not have this option.
  • Upgrading the firmware/software on a Bomgar appliance can be time consuming. Fortunately it doesn't have to happen very often (maybe once a month or so).
Bomgar has done a very good job of creating a product that scales well. When we first started out, we only had two licenses, and that was enough for our small company. As we've grown, we've been able to purchase additional licenses for additional employees. I know that some companies with hundreds of employees are getting the same quality experience as our small, ~25 employee company is now.

Bomgar is used at the university to support staff and students with IT Support both off and on campus. The tool is used by IT Services first and second line support teams and also teams external to central IT Services, such as finance, security and e-learning.

Bomgar enables us to fix more issues at first line, so our users experience a quicker resolution time but also our second line colleagues have more time to spend on development.

Being a university means we need to support our users all over the world on a wide range of devices, Bomgar enables us to do this.
  • Multi OS platform support
  • Ability to share support sessions with other reps so that multiple support staff can share the same session
  • Secure session recording
  • The reporting and auditing allow for quick review and reporting of data
  • Like all tools, the ability to do full screen sharing with iOS devices
Bomgar is well suited for university IT support. It's secure and has multiple ways to initiate a support session making it ideal to support both staff and students on any device.

  • Great support and support community
  • I don't have too much bad to say about Bomgar. Once in a while when trying to initiate a reboot Bomgar doesn't reconnect and a new session key has to be given. This doesn't happen very often and if I remember correctly tended to be with MACs.

We have implemented Bomgar into our environment a couple years ago after seeing a demo at Dell/Kace World. It has become a necessary tool to give remote support to our clients. We have also been able to allow other partners remote access on our network through Bomgar securely. We also provide other departments within our organization the ability to give remote presentations for training purposes. Bomgar is being used everyday within our company!
  • Remote support for clients is easy to use.
  • Integrated tools such as canned scripts, command shell, etc is a must in Bomgar.
  • Jump clients and Bomgar jump buttons for the end user helps resolve issues promptly.
  • I enjoy using the Bomgar App on my Android phone but I dislike not being able to use the canned scripts I have built in the console when I am on the go. Which is a majority of the time.
I believe Bomgar is the most organized remote tool I have used yet. Prior to this I was using Dameware and it just lacked what Bomgar provides with its integrated features. Also, with every upgrade they have improved what consumers have been asking for so I expect greater things in the near future from Bomgar. It's a must have tool for IT.

Bomgar is currently being used by our I.T. team of one, me, to support all staff state wide within the organization. I am able to provide software support, both initial installation and user support of software. Trouble shoot computer issues. Provide basic maintenance operations, defrag, disk clean up, etc. Able to provide virus removal. Troubleshoot printers. Troubleshoot and repair projectors, must use video conferencing in conjunction with Bomgar to accomplish this. Able to help users with basic computer questions and user issues.
  • Allows me to be in multiple places at the same time. I can help multiple people with their issues at the same time all with out leaving the comfort of my office.
  • Support on the go is amazing. I can offer support and people can receive support on the go. I have offered support through mobile devices to people in need all without having to worry about getting to the office or a computer to be able to do so.
  • Rep invite feature is amazing. It allows for outside help to come and and assist when needed. Whether it be an I.T. professional from a different organization or assistance from a different department across campus. More hands on deck the better.
  • I wish there was a way to see all active windows open and be able to work within each at the same time.
Bomgar is great to use to provide support on multiple levels. The vendor is super easy to work with in getting everything set up and throughout the purchasing process. Bomgar offers really great support. No question seems too big or small for them to handle.

We use Bomgar for remote troubleshooting. Bomgar is great, because it allows us to remote administer systems. Our users like it because the application is deleted when the session is complete, so they know we are no longer "monitoring" their systems. Our technicians use to visit each problem. Now they can remote into any computer using Bomgar. They can access the system, because Bomgar gives a complete overview of the system. Our division now uses Bomgar all the time, so we won't have to request user's passwords and the users can watch us work.
  • It allows remote access to unattended workstations. We were searching for equipment and all we had was our property tag number. I was able to locate it and the user it was assigned to.
  • It allows us to see the complete configuration of the system.
  • It allows us to review a video of the session for training purposes.
  • Not all of our systems authenticate through AD. It is a bit of a hassle to remote into a non-AD system
  • I am still having a bit of a problem customizing the web page. It's not easy for people who are not web developers.
I believe that Bomgar is useful in all environments. Its ability to remote into system and allow user participation is great. When users can see what you are doing, they are more likely to trust that you are doing the right thing. Thus, there is no push-back. It is also good for training, because it saves the session.
