BigCommerce is Lindsey's primary sheet music store. She offers every type of sheet music she owns and her fans can purchase her sheet music directly from the BigCommerce website. Originally, she was using her own website, LindseyStirling.com, to list her products but after multiple management changes, keeping that website updated and running smoothly was a problem. With her new sheet music site, we can keep her sheet music updated as much as needed without the worry of having anyone else take the site down due to technical issues or management changes. It has been the perfect solution.
  • Provides a simple user interface for adding products.
  • Allows for easy credit card payment processing.
  • Very quick customer support.
  • Can hold a LOT of products.
  • Is separate from your regular website so if your site goes down, your store won't.
  • The website design portion is terrible. Very hard to update with complete confidence.
  • The website template is hard to manipulate.
  • Each product detail page can be completely customized. This creates pages with CSS that don't look anything like the site they're on; it's disorganized.
If you're a large company with at least 100 products, BigCommerce would be right for you. When compared to WordPress websites, you don't need to know anything technical in order to add/remove/edit products or do anything with your site. Their interface makes it easy to add products without having to know PHP or any other programming language.

Big Commerce is the platform we use for our storefront as well as all customer information and contact. We use Big Commerce to manage our inventory and the entire sales process. From information to the monetary collection, we use Big Commerce for the entire process.
  • Sales management.
  • Customer service.
  • Ease of website building.
  • WYSIWYG editor is hard to work with and doesn't ever look the way it does in the end.
  • Password requirement restrictions should be changeable by site owner not BC.
  • Menu buttons on the left should be clickable even when you are already on that page, it should just reload the page.
We used several other platforms and found BC to be the easiest to work with and found the customer support to be very responsive.

We use BigCommerce to host our e-commerce whole sale website where we sell directly to customers as well as b2b. We use BigCommerce for not just hosting our website but it is also the portal where our customers can find us.
  • BigCommerce has a very easy to use control panel.
  • Online store creation and editing is robust and pretty much everything is customizable.
  • Nice looking and decent built in templates.
  • Never any downtime since using it.
  • BigCommerce could use better account manager implementation.
  • The dashboard takes some getting used to in where you can find things at first.
  • Not as many third party tools as Shopify.
I like the BigCommerce platform because it actually does quite a lot of things for businesses of any size. It has the scalability potential right there and is pretty easy to use, if a colleague asked me as well if there are lots of developers for BigCommerce I would tell them that yes you can quite easily find a developer even though there aren't nearly as many as Shopify already has.

I've previously used Magento as an e-commerce platform because the open-source aspect was appealing to me at the time. It ultimately led to much more work and upkeep. Having a built-in CDN is great and there are a lot of capabilities with the apps that are available as add-ons. It took very little time to come up to speed in regards to the functionality. The user interface is very user-friendly. Being able to control each user's permissions is great too. I've never had any issues with the website or checkout loading slowly and a lot of our customers comment on how easy the website is to navigate and use. Linking orders to accounts is a huge plus. We don't like to require users to have an account but when they do decide later on to create an account, a few clicks can link their past orders to their new account. I look forward to continuing to use BigCommerce in the future and I am very confident that it will continue to be a solution that fits our needs.

BigCommerce would be ideal for someone starting with a brand new business. I'm not sure how the migration process is from one platform to another, but it seems like their support team and the plethora of documentation would be more than enough to make the transition. We switched to BigCommerce to get more versatility and better optimization for our product line. We also build, manage and optimize BigCommerce stores for clients.

Great for start up or established ecommerce business. For the same price as basic Shopify store you get a full featured store with BigCommerce. We also build a lot of WordPress stores for startups, most migrate to BigCommerce as their revenues grow. For small stores 1-4 products, a Wordpress starting point is more affordable (free ecomm plugins) but when you are ready to make your store a business, you need a full functioning store with the capabilities to integrate with 3rd party shipping and selling platforms.

Right now we do a significant amount of business through our direct to consumer sales channel and we feel that this eCommerce solution will allow us to grow as we move forward with the business. We evaluated a ton of different platforms so we're excited to be using BigCommerce.

If you're looking for an e-commerce platform that allows you to do the customization needed for your brand or organization, then Big Commerce is a perfectly situated platform for that kind of work. If you're looking for a cookie-cutter online commerce solution that will help you take online sales every once in a while, then this is probably not the platform for you.

BigCommerce is being used as a store platform management tool. Customer service receives order notifications and details that allow them to input into our internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. I have been using it in sales to view when customers are emailing, calling, or entering their purchases on the web so I can follow up with order status.
  • Search tool is very advanced and filters what I'm looking for every time.
  • I like that I can see a snap shot of a whole list of orders.
  • I think it could do a better job of notifying users if they or their company has an active storefront account. I come across some that register as users, then at a later date register as guests.
I think BigCommerce has done a good job of capturing required order details and I think it's been very user-friendly.

BigCommerce is being used by [my company] and is an excellent hosting company with many features. BibCommerce addresses marketing and inventory in a unique way. Having an eBay account is important but BigCommerce now integrates with your eBay to manage inventory, etc. The support is very professional and there are tutorials on every page to guide you in the management of your site. Overall, an excellent hosting company.

I use Bigcommerce to sell my products. It is easy to understand and someone is always there to help when you have a problem. They have a lot of features and everything you need to run your business. The price is lower than a lot of platforms for the features you receive. I can see us using Bigcommerce for many years.

  • They have everything you need without having to purchase apps to get your business going.
  • I love their themes.
  • I wish they had a better sale feature, so you wouldn't have to do it manually.
  • I would like to see that you could take bulk items out of a category all at the same time. Like when you have a newly listed item. Just click all the boxes and remove from Newly listed. Some of the products have different categories so you have to do them one at a time.
  • I would love to see you be able to use product options that customers can pick and have it come off automatically. The feature they have doesn't work well with my products.
Bigcommerce is well suited for small to very large businesses. They are very professional and ready to help with any situation regardless of your company size. With the price of Bigcommerce and its features you are able to use. There really isn't any reason to look for a new platform.

We are using BigCommerce to sell books and crafts online. The program interfaces well with shipping software and helps us grow and maintain a customer list for marketing purposes. It allows us to target specific customers with discounts and promotions easily and effectively. Overall, we find it helpful in both the marketing and operational areas of the business.
  • Live US-based customer support! They help you get set up and keep learning as you go. They are great.
  • Good app integrations. Apps work very well with the software. If there is some type of challenge, they help you through it.
  • Pricing is reasonable. We are a new business and the price point is reasonable considering the power of the software.
  • We would like to see the ability for the same store to have multiple versions and URL’s so that they can be customizable to each market we are selling to, but still work off the same underpinnings.
  • We would like the home page to offer a bit more versatility with requiring us to learn code.
  • We would like to see a bigger selection of affordable sales tax apps.

Our company uses Big Commerce for selling our trailer parts that we manufacture and parts we have on hand from various industry vendors. This gives us a platform for our Parts and Service department to receive orders via the online presence along with the typical walk-in customers.
  • Big Commerce allows us to handle the processing of payments with ease and confidence.
  • It gives us the flexibility to adjust items listed on the fly.
  • Provides us with the needed platform to sell our trailer parts across the country.
  • Shipping options could be expanded
  • Provide a preview mode when making updates instead of it being "live" right away
  • Add a few more line items to classify an order as a potential fraud attempt
For us Big Commerce has been very functional in the sense that we can expand our distribution area/reach which before we started using was only a 50-60 mile radius of our physical location. For some of our items that we offer, Big Commerce is good for giving us the visibility to the customer that we have that part to offer but not necessarily the selected specs to ensure the customer is getting the version of the part that they need which in turn results in a phone call or chat.

Only one of my clients is using Bigcommerce. We are using it at an e-commerce platform which we do not want to build from scratch.
  • The user interface looks really nice and is easy to use
  • Meta tags are easy to update
  • Processing orders is simple
  • Updating Inventory is simple
  • The dashboard show good overview of your sales, etc.
  • More webinars
  • We did not have any success with Big Commerce's Google Store sales - not sure if that is just us or if anyone else was disappointed with the results.
My biggest question would be about the customer service that the platform provides. The customer service at Big Commerce is amazing in addition to the product. I would most definitely recommend it to my colleague if they were looking for an e-commerce platform.

We're using BigCommerce for our brands after migrating from Magento 2. We evaluated several SaaS ecommerce platforms and landed on BigCommerce (Enterprise plan) as the one that would give us the most features and flexibility, yet still having the lowest total cost of ownership (at least in our case).
  • Features (less reliance on 3rd party plugins)
  • Admin Panel (somewhat subjective, but I find it better than Magento and Shopify)
  • Price (almost half the price of Shopify Plus in our case)
  • Community Resources (e.g. forums, monthly townhalls, private Facebook group, etc.)
  • Apps/Plugins (they have most all the popular ones)
  • Theme customizations should be easier to migrate when updating a theme (currently have to manually note all of your changes to code files and copy/paste them over if you ever decide to update a theme)
  • They're continually releasing new features or enhancements, but they could better prioritize their product roadmap based on the top voted customer ideas
  • I wish they had a customer accessible site/area where you could see a list of any known platform issues and workarounds
  • A few plugins/apps that we would have liked to try don't currently support BigCommerce (e.g. CartHook, PageFly)
  • The included page builder tool is still pretty basic, but you can get Shogun Page Builder if you need something more
We're still relatively new to BigCommerce, but so far it has met or exceeded our expectations. I'd recommend anyone considering it to create a free trial and compare it against your other considerations. While BigCommerce is right for us, you may find Shopify a bit easier if you're less technically inclined and just need to get something up and running since they have a greater selection of themes and plugins. That said, I'd caution against using too many plugins as that may impact your site load time. Also, it should be noted that BigCommerce has recently prioritized WCAG/ADA accessibility standards in all their available themes. Their default Cornerstone theme should soon be certified compliant, with the rest of the free and paid themes to follow.

BigCommerce has allowed us to implement a robust and feature-rich website with incredible ease of use. Best of all, it doesn't have a steep learning curve, allowing employees of many backgrounds to use and maintain our website.

I have used BigCommerce across 3 platforms for 12 years, it is very user friendly for both retailers and customers, I was one of the earlier customers in Australia and have recommended to many who have also been successful both current and past businesses. If you are looking for e commerce then BigCommerce is the answer.

I use it for everything. From web design, inventory control to shipping. The software does it all and I don’t need to be a programmer to use it. It does almost everything I need “out of the box” at a reasonable price. They offer 24/7 service by phone and I’ve received the help I needed with just a call.

We use BigCommerce as our store on our website. We have tried a variety of different software and shopping cart platforms out there over the years, but BigCommerce is the most robust. It offers us the flexibility that we need while giving us full control of each product and their variations.
  • Full control of your customers database -from giving them store credit (seems a no-brainer, but there's a lot of software/platforms out there that don't let you do that!!), to being able to go into their account and edit an order for them, to creating ads/coupons based on groups, etc
  • Full control of product details - every facet of the product is at your fingertips. Beyond description, price, and image, you get SEO, options, categories (including being able to put your product in multiple categories. Again, something simple, but important!), bulk pricing, mark it coming soon or call for pricing, etc.
  • It's so robust!! I've mentioned the full control because it really is so robust and allows you to tailor everything to your store/site/brand, etc. We've used it for years and plan to use it for years to come!
  • Steep learning curve - if you have a web/IT person, great, you're golden. If you're just starting out, or switching from a platform that's a little more plug-n-play, you'll discover that along with the robustness of BC comes it's many, many different choices. Which is great....and a bit overwhelming. It IS easy to learn though, just keep plugging away at it and don't be afraid to ask for help through the community, the help desk, or the web!
If you have some simple products that don't need variations of any kind, and just need to sell them, this will work for you but may be 'too much' and a simpler platform would work better. If you have a lot of products, a lot of {repeat} customers to manage, variations on the products, tie-ins to other products, etc, then you definitely want to use BigCommerce!

I’ve already recommended BigCommerce to two people. I love the different levels available; it allows for businesses of all sizes to be able to affordably use Big Commerce. In researching several ecommerce sites, I liked how robust BigCommerce is. I feel it’s a perfect fit for my business now and has lots of available options that will allow me to grow and expand along with it. Their customer service is extremely helpful. I like that I can understand the person. They're not reading some pre-scripted response.

We use the BigCommerce platform to reach potential customers all over the country. We use the platform all though out the company. For example it is a great tool for keeping track of our inventory and customer base.
  • The support (as with any platform issues will arise). BigCommerce's support is not only responsive but thoroughly engaging when resolving an issue.
  • Ease of use, when we first started we did not have the staff to get things up and running. I recruited my nieces, all in their early teens, to help. They were able to perform the task easily.
  • Gives us a great image. Out of all of our peers we are the only ones that use BigCommerce. Oh boy, what a difference.
  • Being able to edited certain portions of the platform independent from others.
While I can not immediately come up with scenarios where BigCommerce is not suited for, I do believe there are a host where that are perfect, including for inventory management, availbily of partner solutions to any situation, and their ever-adapting changes in e-commerce.

BigCommerce is our platform that manages our e-commerce presence in Australia and soon to be in USA. It allows us a professional, easy to use platform for our online store, which allows us to market our brand and provides another avenue of sales for the business. Further to this, it allows us to show our wholesale customers what the RRP can be and helps with the national branding strategy. On top of this, it provides an ability for our customers who don't have a shop close to them stocking our products to be able to buy our products and interact with our business.
  • Easy to use web page
  • Secure shopping cart
  • Specialist advice and support when needed
  • More flexibility on the skins of the web pages with regards to minor changes needed
  • Better built-in SEO technical services that might normally require an outside coder or webmaster. This is to help those businesses that aren't typical.
I think BigCommerce is a great tool for people who are not webmasters themselves and want to focus on branding and selling rather than coding the perfect site.

I have chosen Big Commerce to be the eCommerce tab on our social platform which is part of our new business model "TheGivingCycle" being the "social that pays". It is ideal for the many types of manufacturers, B2B, B2C sellers along with non-profits to make available their services and products to our members and wherever one may desire to sell around the world. It solved the problem of having the ability to service small businesses along with large Enterprises, encompassing the entire supply chain and the security needed for such. I had reviewed other platforms and have decided that Big Commerce will work best for our members, society, and anyone utilizing our platform.
  • Having a team of professionals available to answer questions or assist you with any issue one may have from set up to ongoing operations.
  • Having training material in various formats which can assist in training oneself or your teams.
  • Staying on top of the best of technologies so as to keep you extremely competitive in the market place.
  • The social community that one may feel free to inquire or hire for special project or needs.
  • I'm really big on security, which they do have but, desiring to utilize it to the max regarding my particular standard, one has to add their 3rd party recommendation for that additional upgrade of service. Seeing it as the normal part of their service would have made it more to my liking.
  • I am sure that the more we utilize Big Commerce we will be able to see where they may need improvement, but they have been growing and upgrading in the best of their breed as far as I have seen and learned.
If one just wants to run their own operation or enterprise, you can do it well here. What we are doing is more than just having multi-stores and their various locations, but we are combining the "Amazon" effect, which they are willing to assist us in achieving our goal for doing so.
