Integrations with Shopify were inadequate, and we felt the overall impression was too informal, without the backend flexibility our catalog requires. As for Magento, I had experience at a previous company with Magento and was never very satisfied with any part of it. I took a new look when searching for the right solution at Unique Lift Parts and found not much changed.

BigCommerce simply blows them out of the water. Magento took a nosedive in security and reliability, and their support team "assured" us the issue was fixed on 3 separate occasions. BigCommerce took the opportunity to be crystal clear about how they manage and store our server instances and customer data. Their uptime has been impeccable, and we have never once feared for security issues.

Most reliable and robust e-commerce solution for the price. Easy to learn and to continue to use. Great user and customer management. Product capabilities are way better than the competition. It doesn't take a long time to onboard an entire business' inventory and get to selling. That's truly important to see ROI. Getting back to selling fast. With WordPress, something is always broken. Shopify is a child compared to BigCommerce. Other CMS's are basically deprecated.

BigCommerce gave us room to grow. It seemed to offer options further than we would have had [an] interest in going. The list/choices of apps were great. I do not know if the individuals who wrote the 3rd party apps were vetted, it really felt like they were. They know industry leaders. [It offers] simple, few-click options to have a presence on all relevant marketplaces [in] 2021.

We used BigCommerce for one feature that none of the other systems offer, the ability to add custom keywords to products was exactly what our client required and BigCommerce offers this with no additional work.

BigCommerce beats all of these platforms on almost every important feature. There are a few places that Shopify is a little better, but it doesn't outweigh BigCommerce dominance in virtually every important category.

I would say they are very close. I do not like WooCommerce however Shopify is also good. I am not sure if I would be able to persuade someone to not open and Shopify store and go with BigCommerce because both are good, however, I would not hesitate in asking any interested company to look seriously at BigCommerce and give it a go.

Bigcommerce is the best option for cost-effective and easily customizable integrated with Wordpress. It lacks the advanced reporting and analytics features as say a Shopify but has just as many integration options. Not quite as sophisticated of a user interface but still gets the job done if you take the time to learn their dashboard. Typically more cost-effective than Shopify as well so it’s a better fit for smaller organizations.

Years ago I used a shopping cart service call Page Down Technology. They no longer sell shopping cart services. When I used them, their services were completely customizable but were very difficult to use because everything required coding. With BigCommerce, you can customize most things with just a few clicks and if you want more customization, you can also enter coding. I've always been able to do everything I wanted in BigCommerce without the need for entering any codes.

I can't even recall the other names of webshops I used prior to BigCommerce, but I did have 2 other experiences from 2008 to 2013, prior to coming on with BigCommerce. I suffered daily trying to make those sites work the way they should. I also hated trying to ask questions because I would get somebody [...] that would have scripted answers that felt so impersonal. I rarely have to call BigCommerce for help, but when I do, it is like talking to a friend. They actually "talk" to you and help you figure out what is wrong. For the most part, I am not literate in advanced computer knowledge, so having BigCommerce in my corner, makes my small crafting business actually seem like it really is important. I truly appreciate being one of their customers!

Compared to Shopify Plus, BigCommerce is about the same, just not as many apps and developers compared to Shopify. If I had a choice, I would go with Shopify Plus over BigCommerce as some apps I really liked using at my old job are on Shopify only.

When compared to WordPress, BigCommerce does a pretty great job at allowing their customers to add a LOT of products and organize them in clear, easy-to-understand ways. By organizing by category or type of product, we can make sure our own customers can find what they need without spending excess time searching. However, BigCommerce's search functionality is quite good. WordPress requires users to customize the code (and have a knowledge of PHP). With BigCommerce, you can organize your products and search without knowing any code.

Of all the eCommerce platforms we evaluated, only Shopify would compete. Shopify is a better bet with smaller catalogs and less custom business requirements in our experience. While the app store in Shopify is robust, BigCommerce has better native features that were important to our team.

We used both Yahoo's ecommerce platform which was awful and very limited, not to mention incredibly difficult to find developers for, to also using Shopify Plus which had a lot going for it too but was surprisingly limited out of the box compared to BigCommerce but has more apps and more developers. BigCommerce is a happy medium in the middle for us and it has allowed us to scale our business up.

Open source Magento was a full-time job. Now, I have a lot more freedom giving me the ability to take on more responsibilities and get my job done more efficiently. There were many headaches associated with Magento and depreciating version 1 and forcing users to migrate to version 2 was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

We use Woo Commerce/WordPress for many start ups with small inventories. We also manage Square, Shopify, Magento and MonsterCommere stores for clients. We find that BigCommerce is the best overall solution - although many clients that are tied to their Magento investment are afraid to leave. They think savings thousands of dollars moving forward negates their decision to start out with the wrong platform (over spending on their initial investment and management). Once we convert them to BC, they never want to go back.

We very much liked BigCommerce because it was the perfect fit or the best of both worlds as far as our business is concerned. It had a really robust shopping cart experience that comes standard and it allows for a Sandbox environment that we can use for future custom build-outs.
