Was using Square POS and was using Square Website too but that fell over at the last hour so we jumped to BigCommerce on the website front.I'm still using Square POS for the personal sales, but BigCommerce still hasn't fixed their link to Square so I had to pay a third party app $150 AUD for the month I needed Square POS, very boring but would love that link to be fixed with BigCommerce.

With BigCommerce you have great support (not with the open-source alternatives) without the high order fee that comes with Shopify. You also never have to worry about server settings or up-time. And you still have a lot of freedom with the design and functionality.

BigCommerce has tier pricing out-of-box, which is a must-have for my store.

We originally looked at another vendor for this platform but in the end, we chose BC. Their capabilities, integrated apps, analytics, SEO optimization and ability to customize every aspect of our website made it the right fit for us. We have a lot of products that have similar part numbers and this allowed us to differentiate and upsell at the same time. Thank you, BC!

We chose BigCommerce based on their inventory software, and we continue to stand by that decision. Squarespace and Wix simply cannot handle the amount of inventory we carry, and Shopify (at the time) did not seem suitable for us. We appreciate the flow and layout of BigCommerce's frontend. Everything is very well organized and easy to learn.

We signed up with Shopify before BigCommerce but found we weren’t able to automatically sync inventory during/after farmer’s markets and faires.
We had a lengthy experience with Lightspeed Retail, which we used as the POS in our brick/mortar for a long time, but the cost was high and the features were lacking vs BigCommerce when we closed the physical location. That is why we went on a significant research/trial phase to find a new home.

It is cleaner and easier but sacrifices apps and features. It includes SSL where 3dcart charges. Magento is just too bulky for one person to operate.

Amazon is great for high margin or high volume B2C business, expensive to use, not for what we do.
Shopify is a good alternative, but won't handle the variations we use. May switch in the future.
Custom websites (WooCommerce, Magento, etc.) are too difficult to maintain for our small business.

We have used Yahoo Stores in the past, and from that, we moved to BigCommerce. We have looked at Shopify, but have not done too much research on that. Magenta has come up many times, and I have some colleagues who use that, but it seems like they are always having to learn a new system, so that is not even on the radar for us. BigCommerce is comfortable for us and provides us with what we need.

BigCommerce is a much more user friendly, manageable and cost-effective tool than Magento, which we previously used. We struggled to find a decent Magento developer and it was an extremely expensive platform which we didn't really need. Shopify for us was limited with our growth expectancy, and would not serve us well long term. Wix is for small blog type sites and the shopping functionality is very basic - this is not suitable for a growing e-commerce buisness. Word Press is comparable in terms of features and functionality, but BigCommerce certainly has the edge. I have not used WordPress for e-commerce, so I cannot comment on this side of their platform.

When compared to WordPress, BigCommerce was just much faster for our customers. In the past, many customers would get frustrated due to our WordPress/WooCommerce site being slow regardless of the optimizations made. At the time, WordPress was also very slow to integrate Apple Pay and other online wallets.

During that period of transition, we also evaluated Shopify. We ultimately chose BigCommerce due to it having more options to expand with a higher amount of integrations available.

Pricing-wise, BigCommerce is pretty much the same. Our problem was a way to track inventory across in-store, on-site and online sales. BigCommerce was the solution that worked best with Square.

We migrated to BigCommerce from Yahoo!. BigCommerce was clearly superior. They offered a more stable platform, a larger user community and more advanced options like stencil themes and responsive web pages.

We evaluated Shopify for a new, smaller division of our business. We decided that a second storefront with BigCommerce would be worth the investment because of the available integrations and ease of use.
