Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use BigTime Software as a practice management software in my firm. We use it for time tracking, engagement management, client information tracking, and billing. When I started researching practice management software, I was looking for software that synced with Quickbooks desktop that would track time and projects and manage clients. This software was one of the only ones that filled all my criteria.

Likelihood to Recommend
For the price and it's capabilities, it is the best practice management software out there. I tested quite a few before I purchased this one. Lots of software syncs with quickbooks online, but very few sync with quickbooks desktop and that makes this one unique. My firm is a full service accounting firm and we manage over 1,000 personal tax projects and hundreds of bookkeeping and accounting engagements and BigTime does this well. It's client information management could be better and ability to produce reports could use improvement. Also when syncing, sometimes transactions are doubled and it is difficult to remove the second transaction.

We are utilizing BigTime [Software] for timekeeping, invoicing, and project management purposes.
Pros
  • It is intuitive.
  • It is easy to use
  • It helps us manage our tasks, which we weren't able to do in QuickBooks Online.
Cons
  • I am having trouble figuring out how to drop time from invoice tracking (i.e.: billed as a lump sum, so I no longer want to see this time as a potential invoice that needs to be drafted).
  • We still use QuickBooks and I have trouble uploading Invoices there.
  • Invoice payment is difficult to navigate.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited for a small company such as ours. I know I'm not using it to its full capability, but I have enjoyed it for invoicing and timekeeping versus QuickBooks Online.

We use BigTime as our timekeeping/expensing and invoicing application. A great aspect is that we use QuickBooks as our bookkeeping application, BigTime is compatible and able to automatically sync with QuickBooks throughout the day to ensure that both systems reflect the same information.
Pros
  • Easy input of time and expenses, into either their website or mobile app
  • Various invoice templates available
  • Bulk processing of invoices for efficiency
Cons
  • Currently there is no way to sort invoices in the approval screen by Team Lead, which means all of the Team Leads see everyone's invoices, not just their own
  • Customizing your own report is not straightforward, and we usually end up reaching out to customer service for assistance
Likelihood to Recommend
BigTime works well for companies that bill their clients by the hour, and that have multiple hourly rates depending on what task is being performed. It allows each employee to input their own time and expenses, and also allows their supervisors to review the input time/expenses before invoicing the client. The flexibility to input time/expenses on your desktop, laptop, or phone is a good feature. The customer service response can be slow at times, although recently they have had quicker response times, so I believe they are striving to improve that aspect.

BigTime [Software] has helped us become on time and on budget with their budget management and project management features.
Pros
  • Invoicing is fairly easy
  • Project management and tasks are easy to create
  • Budgets are easily seen (monetary and time)
Cons
  • For some types of projects, we are unable to use BigTime's invoicing feature. It would be nice if we could further customize invoices to fit our needs. We still have to use Quickbooks to complete certain invoices.
  • Being able to create Purchase Orders in BigTime would be extremely useful to us. We currently use Quickbooks for this.
Likelihood to Recommend
BigTime [Software] is great for small businesses like ourselves. It is great if you need to be better at time management and staying on budget.

We currently use BigTime IQ for time tracking, expense tracking, project budgeting and status reporting.
Pros
  • BigTime IQ and QuickBooks seamlessly integrate information. This makes life much easier for timesheets and expenses.
  • When time is directly entered against phasing of projects, the budgets are clear and tracked live.
Cons
  • We don't use the invoicing portion of the program. This causes the Work In Progress to keep mounting and isn't gauged correctly.
Likelihood to Recommend
BigTime is great for timesheet tracking- ease of accessibility for employees. They can download the mobile app and log their time when they remember to or when I need it immediately! Expenses are done the same way. You can upload the receipt from your phone.
