BlueJeans Review
During COVID and the restrictions that followed, it was not possible to have physical meetings. Also, as there were restrictions on travel, we needed an efficient digital tool to connect our teams based in two different cities in two of our offices. BlueJeans has helped to overcome these limitations and we have been effectively conducting team meetings as well as board meetings on this platform with equal ease as a physical meeting.
- BlueJeans supports multiple platforms such as mobile phones, tablets, and PCs providing convenience to its users to select the instrument of their choice.
- The sound quality in BlueJeans is crystal clear and natural due to Dolby Voice.
- Smart meetings highlights is a very unique feature provided by BlueJeans where participants can highlight specific moments in meetings.
- Security features provided such as meetings encryption, screen share control, participants' meeting code, etc.
- The meeting invite sent to participants displays the meeting code as well as participant code in the link, which ideally should not be displayed but encrypted.
- There have been instances when the BlueJeans application has frozen and it would have had to be restarted and such a situation is embarrassing when it is the moderator's application. This needs to be corrected by improving reliability.
- When there are multiple users attending the meeting from the same room and their speakers are on, there is an issue of echo.
My everyday experience
- Easy to use and install on many devices and very intuitive. The GUI app is very friendly and you only have just the right amount of options you need to make the conference work: share screen, chat, control over your camera and mic. For the users, this is great since you don't have to spend a lot of time teaching them how to use BlueJeans.
- The compatibility with the videoconference codecs we have (Polycom, LifeSize, etc). There's no need for extra plug-ins. You just dial to the BlueJeans IP address and enter the meeting ID and passcode, and you're done.
- The recording option is excellent for the unlimited storage on the cloud and the option to locally download the recordings.
- The app 2.0 has some missing options, like the option to directly send an invite by entering the email address to add new people, and some problems, like a black screen for certain users. We understand that this is a new version and might have some bugs, but we hope you can fix it soon.
- It needs the ability for a moderator to share content like videos or record without the need of a BlueJeans user login.
- Some users are able to share videos with sound and some users are not. I guess that depends on the PC sound settings, but it would be nice to have a brief guide on how to share videos with sound.
BlueJeans: the right fit!
- Meeting scheduling with various advanced options.
- Bandwidth prioritizing for low connection speeds.
- Ease of use. Friendly interface.
- Good customer service. I have made a few calls, and a solution is always presented.
- Mass meeting scheduler would be nice, with certain advanced features being set as a default.
- Advanced recording features shared screen options. Export options that match in the in-app video viewing.
- Opt-out of e-mail notifications.
BlueJeans is an absolutely fabulous meeting tool!
- Reminding us of meetings.
- Chat function.
- Video quality.
- Recording the meeting.
- I wish BlueJeans had a function to connect to google calendar, like if we scheduled a meeting in BlueJeans that it would populate the meeting to google calendar.
- I really cannot think of any other areas for improvement!
Why we selected BlueJeans for our Covid era startup
- Secure - unlike Zoom, is developed in the US.
- Customer Experience - super simple to use.
- Recording capabilities - track everything.
- Virtual backgrounds don't work well at all on the Mac desktop app. The background image refresh as you move is clunky at-best. We stopped using it and would not recommend anyone to use these backgrounds until they resolve the issue.
Law Firm finds BlueJeans to be the perfect fit
- Clients enjoy that they can answer using just their browser.
- The connections are always clear with little interruption.
- BlueJeans Rooms is perfect for mediations and arbitrations.
- Security is key for a law firm and BlueJeans fit that bill over Zoom.
- We wish we could see every person on the call, like Zoom offers.
- It would be good if the admin could add the photos for each user profile so that they fit our corporate standards (i.e. firm head shots).
Given that Zoom and MS Teams have wider usage, it is sometimes hard to get clients and opposing counsel to use it. We are hoping that Verizon's purchase of BlueJeans leads to it being more competitive with those so that we don't run into issues.
The whole organization used BlueJeans, but in some cases the customers prefer other applications like Meet or Teams.
- Online training and excellent recording to be downloaded.
- Coordination meetings with sharing screens and other functions.
- BlueJeans is very stable. We have an excellent average of perfect meetings.
- The main problem is that BlueJeans is not so well known like others, and customers prefer their own applications.
- Increase the size of storage for recording meetings.
- Integration with iOS or macOS calendar.
Very satisfied (basic) user of BlueJeans services
BlueJeans with both internet browser access, phone app, and dial in numbers is very convenient and flexible.
It is for us a reliable dial-in service that we can easily set up for any of our remote meetings.
- Efficient and easy integration with Outlook.
- User-friendliness.
- Reliability.
- Cost-efficiency.
- Account settings need to be changed on browser instead of app and the process is not so intuitive.
- Some locations do not have dial-in numbers.
As BlueJeans is for now not widely used, you sometimes need to explain to contacts how it works which may cause some slightly delayed connections.
my organization has benefited with BJ
- Good presentation options.
- Clarity of calls.
- Troubleshooting equipped logging system.
- Lighter PC client.
I recommend BJ because of its options and tools provided to end consumer, and quality of any call as experienced.
Easy to use, great audio quality, outstanding mobile app
- Audio quality.
- Friendly SW.
- Easy to access.
- When I changed audio device, it sometimes crashes.
- When someone shares their screen, sometimes the image is freezing.
BlueJeans is for everybody
We are an independent consulting boutique, and while our clients sometimes have video conferencing systems in place, they are not suited for more immersive experiences. BlueJeans helps us selling our business all over the world, with any kind of client and infrastructure.
- We love the moderation tools and how smooth they work, whether it‘s Breakout rooms, recording or the whiteboard.
- Setting up a call is simple and done in a second.
- I love to team BlueJeans up with my mmhmm camera. Works like a charm!
- The Whiteboard could use a little more love, for instance the ability to upload an image.
BlueJeans was the right product at the right time.
- Good sound and video quality
- Locking the meeting
- Vanity URLs
- I would like users to see their network strength again (removed recently).
- Subtitling would be beneficial, especially in other languages.
- I don't like the presenter widget but it cannot be removed.
A fantastic alternative to Zoom
- Easy to use interface
- Security and encription
- Good connection
- Invoice and customer service. They use a third party for invoicing and are very troublesome when you need support.
- Chat feature is limited
- For some participants, it's difficult to navigate and find back buttons when in breakout rooms.
I don't think BlueJeans is the best option for large audiences.
- Multiple options to connect (mobile devices, PCs using browser OR app, VC Room systems)
- Ease of connection (once you are used to it)
- Relatively low bandwidth works well as compared to most other competing platforms
- I have found customer service to be particularly responsive, and rare occasions when they fail to come up with an answer/solution.
- Options for layouts (for participant videos); beats most other competing platforms, though it could still be improved
- Live streaming to Facebook Live/Workplace
- Almost unlimited recording (soft limit of 50GB)
- Polls (it is unbelievable that such a basic and useful feature it STILL missing)
- Waiting room (anyone with the link or meeting details can join in)
- Lack of "registration option" for joining meetings (this would be a nifty feature to have)
- Breakout rooms aren't easy at all; for meetings of 30-50 people, some get left behind. Each participant needs to be allotted to a group individually, rather than have multiple participants selected for each breakout room). Also, once a breakout session is over, one has to start the allotment to groups all over again, from scratch, which is a hell of a lot for the meeting organizer or even a moderator to do
- A limit of 100 (or 150) participants still is low as compared to most other competing platforms
- More controls over layouts (for instance, ability to pin more than one participant, or have more than 9 participants visible at a time)
- Background blurring
- Background noise cancellation
- Verbal cues for mic on and mic off would be nice
- A feature for a parallel audio stream (for translation) would be fantastic. India speaks in many, many languages (at least 30 different languages which are widely used); this would set BlueJeans apart from all others
BlueJeans Review
- Scheduling - A few quick clicks and the meeting is good to go.
- Network stability - Has always been available
- Any device - We use many types of devices without issue.
- Cost - In comparison to others, cost is low.
- Background images appear to be lacking for video.
- Always have everyone muted when entering. Should be the default.
- Time zone should default to your local. Always needs to be set when traveling.
- Best audio quality
- Integration with the dolby conference phone
- Command center
- Re-brand the product to something more business-friendly and promote it. Many people don't know the name and/or find it silly. Having to explain the meaning of the name to clients and co-workers and then they think it's more of a consumer or small business product and then I have to explain its an enterprise-focused service that takes quality and security more seriously than Zoom. Cue the awkward silence and then someone more important than me telling me how much they love saying the word Zoom and telling me we should switch. A huge opportunity was missed by not capitalizing on all the bad press Zoom received earlier this year. Now everyone just wants to "zoom" and think all the bad press was unwarranted.
- Sales and billing are painful. Enterprise accounts are overpriced and fencing them off from the other plans is completely unnecessary and feels like a money grab. We originally went with BlueJeans for the interoperability with Polycom and Cisco systems, but other solutions now offer that and they price it so it's just a company-wide add-on that doesn't require special overpriced user accounts. When my CEO asked why they were so expensive, I mentioned the Polycom interoperability and he told me "no one uses Polycom any more".
- Keep everything separate from Verizon. The product and service work great. Don't attempt to fix what isn't broken. Too many success stories right now where acquisitions are more successful when they are left alone by their parent companies. The primary issues are branding/promotion and sales/billing. Calling it "BlueJeans by Verizon" or re-branding to anything else that relates to Verizon creates even more confusion. People think they it means they need Verizon cellphone plan to use it or they have had a negative experience with Verizon in the past and now they relate that negative experience with BlueJeans. For most Verizon users, the company and the service work just "fine". It's not Apple-level fandom. The service costs more than their competitors, but consumers and businesses know they pay for their coverage and maybe their support if they have an issue. They don't see the Verizon name on another product and think they want it because it works just "fine" or they will pay more for something that works just as good as other products that are free or more ubiquitous.
- All the video conferencing services are hoping to win all the customers. It's not going to happen. Everyone has their preferred service for many different reasons. BlueJeans should become a service that can connect to all the other services. I know Dolby Voice Room can technically do something like that, but it's basically just a SIP/H.323 endpoint that can connect to other providers that support the protocol, but not many users opt for that feature since it costs extra and they aren't sure what it actually is.
- BlueJeans has the best audio quality of any provider. All the infrastructure is there to create an audio-only service. I know its possible to use BlueJeans for audio-only video calls, but it's against the terms of service and I'm referring to something like a fully hosted SIP provider. 10 digit phone numbers, voicemail, texting, extension numbers, call transferring, hold, and conferencing. Desk phones and/or SIP compatibility. Full replacement for PBX systems and existing hosted SIP solutions.
- Still, no feature to see more than 9 simultaneous callers. I have users/teams who use Zoom just because it has that one feature. Instead, the virtual backgrounds feature was released. No enterprise users asked for that.
Why I use BlueJeans instead of Zoom
Breakout session is the one we had a problem with and we're not using it anymore because of that reason.
I wish an administrator could monitor all breakout sessions at once instead of joining each small group to see if they are doing OK and coming back out to join another room to see their activity. And some times, the system won't break out individuals so they have to log out and log back in to join the breakout session. It normally takes a couple of minutes, and if that person is the leader, that room just becomes chaotic since the member of that room is a person with a developmental disability.
I wish I could see all the faces at once while playing the video. I use dual screen monitors to overlook everyone, and for me to see people's activity, I have to mute currently viewing videos for others to show up and that's inconvenient.
Another problem is that when the video is playing, it sometimes breaks up. It might be because of the bandwidth or networking issues, but I wish there was less problem with this. I also wish that YouTube streaming could be shared via BlueJeans as well.
- Customer service
- Technical updates and upgrades
- Bright future
- The video sharing feature could be smoother.
- Break out session to be viewed by administrator without joining each room.
- See video and all people via multiple monitors. It's better to see the video in one monitor and people's activity on the other monitors.
- For the open room without password, it would be best if I can just send a link to someone and all they need to do is click and it automatically joins with whatever feature they have with their smart devices or their computer. For people with developmental disability, it's not easy to join at this time.
The New Normal
- Easy invitations
- Good connection quality
- Good sound quality
- Good 'administrator' tools such as muting idiots and setting format.
- Layout of gallery view constantly changes during meetings.
- Would like promised facility to haze or change background when working from home.
- 'Recording' function is unweildy; can we not record sound only?
Polished videoconferencing solution.
- Ease of use - very intuitive interface for non-technical end users.
- Different platforms supported - we don't have control of end user devices and Blue jeans support all platforms ranging from in-room systems to mobile Apps.
- Customer supports - prompt and efficient support
- Although BlueJeans has browser plugins, the attendees are steered toward installing the desktop app, which can sometimes confuse non-technical users.
- Lack of in-meeting features such as 'raise hand' which is a standard meeting feature.
A useful conference calling platform for a growing team
- Platform stability
- Quality of calls
- Video latency
- In-call chat could be better. No files are able to be sent during chats, only links
- Latency on low bandwidth calls could be improved
- Not having to download the app on mobile or dekstop to make a call
BlueJeans Review
- Video
- Recording
- Scheduling meetings.
- Easy to access and share.
- Share recordings to people without enterprise accounts.
- Reminder to record the meeting when the presentation begins.
Great Web Meeting Software
- Screen sharing
- Single document/app sharing
- Record feature
- I’d like a hand-raising function and/or a feature to indicate thumbs-up or thumbs-down type of thing.
- Address book that could be updated
Efficient, Simple, Safe, & Secure Conferencing Service
- Reliability is absolutely key and it rarely, if ever, fails.
- It seems very secure. We have been using it for 2 years and there have been no security issues.
- Very simple to use and the visual appearance makes it understandable even for those not familiar with it.
- Screen sharing is very easy.
- Sending out invitations and a link to the call works well.
- I have absolutely no complaints
Reliable, high quality video & audio, but there are alternatives that may be better suited.
We used it to connect remote and distributed people, teams, departments, and offices. We also used BlueJeans for remote/out of area interviews with qualified candidates. It helps speed up the interviewing timeline and process by allowing us to video interview and screen share as needed.
- Was fairly easy to set it up (via Chrome extension) for meetings, as well as for video interviews.
- Not having to install or download any additional software made it easy and friendly to use.
- Available as a web app or desktop app.
- Easy to share and distribute links to others and quickly onboard to use.
- Screenshare easy to use.
- Wish it allowed to view multiple video chatters simultaneously a la Zoom, gchat/meet, rabb.it, airtime, etc.
- Screenshare slow to respond when livestreaming; audio doesn't sync with video or what's on screen.
Also, BlueJeans is suited to connect with distributed team members and groups who are all WFH.
It's less appropriate for work but still good functionally would be using it to connect with family and friends for HH, game nights, group chats, etc.
