We use Brandwatch for social media consulting, customer and competition analysis and one time reports for a variety of clients. We're a social business focused consultant so everybody in the company has a use for social media monitoring tools whether it is for internal use so we can assess and evaluate our customers' current social media situation or as a support of the planning and implementation of a social media strategy.
  • Brandwatch interface is clean and easy to understand. While social monitoring tools don't have to be simple they also have to provide a quick instinctive way to be used and Brandwatch provides this
  • Excellent configuration settings. Designed for both the simple projects and consultants to the most complicated and demanding projects thanks to its two ways to configure it.
  • Good analysis focus. Brandwatch has a good analysis focus which allows you not only to see the information in a dashboard but to actually dwell deeper into it.
  • Latin America focus. Brandwatch has started a LATAM drive which could be beneficial to the region and the company
  • Brandwatch still can become a more analytically focused tool. We have too many "easy basic dashboards" tools out there. Some of us really need to dig deep into the information and Brandwatch while in the right path can still improve its interface to facilitate this.
  • Increase amount of social networks covered. a tough challenge given how we always have new networks around but it is not only the new but the foreign networks like weibo or renren that should be considered.
  • Better pricing. Brandwatch is a bit expensive and a lot of small businesses have no way to access it. A small business package could really be useful.
  • While their Boolean configuration is an asset, writing and building the Boolean queries can be a real hassle and having and easier faster way to build it could be awesome. They are improving in this but there must be a way to automatize the creation of hundred characters long queries.
  • Brandwatch allows us to impress customers with our knowledge of their industry and company in the social media landscape. It is a distinct competitive advantage.
  • We had a good income from one shot reports and crisis management help using Brandwatch.
  • We have a good marketing strategy using Brandwatch for promotional analysis.
I recommend Brandwatch for a lot of companies and agencies that need a clean analysis with a marketing orientation or crisis management. The easy but complete way in which you can configure it and start getting results and insights can help a lot. Also to create good reports regarding the use of social media by agencies.

It can also be used for social crm and customer service scenarios but [it is] not as easily and fluid as other tools so this is where I sometimes hesitate to use it.

Brandwatch is one of the best social media monitoring platforms out there. It has managed to maintain its identity and focus in an ever changing landscape. It competes head to head with tools like Radian6, Netbase, Sysomos and Synthesio. Lately each one has been defining more and more their focus and kind of analysis. Social CRM, PR, Crisis, Marketing, Quick dashboards and reports; they each have a different approach and do it quite well. Brandwatch is one my first options when I need good deep analysis that is easy to understand and share.

People who use the tool in our company range from our strategy director and senior consultants to some junior consultants, community managers and social media analysts. We all try to use the social monitoring tools both to understand them and to better coordinate our analysis, reports and social media efforts.

you need good analytic and thought oriented people. Sometimes people think that the monitoring platforms should be handled by the community manager or marketing guys and this tends to be a mistake.
Go for a couple of good engineers who alse have a good understanding of the social media landscape. Nowadays the Data Scientists are getting more spotlight so you may be able to find a couple of good guys who can fill this role.
They have to be able to really understand how to configure and use the tool, how to dig deeper into the data even beyond the platform using any means necessary and sometimes just using the platform as the data gathering step.
  • One time situational reports
  • Social monitoring continous projects
  • Social intelligence for the high tier directors
  • Crisis management
  • none yet
  • social crm
  • command centers
  • event monitoring
good knowledge, great tips, although the program seems a bit disconnected. It could improve it they create more free webinars and a good content calendar and tackle little topics in each webinar.

Their trainers are top notch and they know a lot about the tool but they fall a bit low on technical level understanding of how the tool actually works.
  • configuration is not easy but is indeed really complete
  • creation of graphics, fast and easy
  • the boolean configuration may feel cumbersome from time to time.
It definitely is better to use and to learn than other tools. they can get better in some interface and configuration stuff but overall you can get a great experience right out of the box
