We use Brightmove primarily as a company-wide resume database/repository. We obtained resumes from many sources throughout the year and need a central location to easily store them and search for particular skills and experiences when we have new position openings/requirements from our clients. Brightmove provides a very easy-to-use solution to load and parse resumes which then become very easy to categorize/classify and then search. Brightmove has a lot of functionality like Applicant Tracking and posting to industry job boards, which we have done a few times in the past, but we primarily use it for the resume database/repository features/functions.
  • Parse and store resumes.
  • Resume Classification/Categorization.
  • Resume Search.
  • Resume history and version control.
  • The biggest issue we have now with Brightmove is the cost structure. For the narrow solution, we are looking for and using, their pricing tiers are not very flexible and increased somewhat dramatically recently.
  • The general UI is a bit dated.
  • The iOS app is pretty basic and at one point had issues keeping up with iOS updates.
If you want a full-service ATS and will use the tool to post jobs and track candidates, Brightmove is a very solid tool. They are adding functionality and making it more robust. In our case, we ended up just using it for resume repository and management and so the solution essentially outgrew us such that the price structure and options are no longer competitive or make as much sense as when we first started using the tool.

  • Initially, Brightmove was very cost-effective. With three users, we were paying about $42.00 a month in 2018. Now in 2022, for 1 user we are paying $125 a user/a month.
  • Brightmove definitely works well for us for a resume repository and allows us to have access to the data from nearly anywhere between the website and mobile app. We are very happy with this set of features and functionality. It makes storing and managing resumes much easier.
  • Brightmove provided a nice solution for tracking and posting jobs to major job boards, but we just didn't end up using it enough, given our business model.
Brightmove does all we need from a resume database and ATS and job board posting perspective compared to Zoho Recruit. When we initially started with BM, it was a more cost-effective and simple solution...which is why we chose Brightmove. Ironically, now we are looking at the possibility of moving to Zoho Recruit because their pricing is much better and is more flexible, given that we just need the basic document repository and search capability. Additionally, Zoho has a much larger set of tools if we did ever want to expand into other areas. But again, their pricing seems to have more flexibility for basic users and small companies like ourselves...who are not ready or do not currently need the large suite of tools and related costs.

Everyone using Brightmove in our organization uses it for staffing/recruiting purposes. We load, categorize, update, and search for resumes.

Brightmove is pretty easy to use, and when we have had problems, their support options (via email) have historically been very, very good. Responsive and helpful. The tool needs very little support for our business, but whenever it does, we simply submit a ticket request, and it is resolved quickly.
  • Resume load and phrasing.
  • Resume repository.
  • Resume categorization and classification.
  • Resume search.
  • Nothing really unexpected, but it has been nice to be able to group resumes by key functions.
  • Resume search by keywords and filtering works pretty well.
  • Resume parsing is easy and fast.
  • When we used the ATS and job board posting features the tool worked well.
  • If you really only want a resume database and repository as we do, the current pricing structure isn't going to make sense.
Unfortunately, we probably won't renew unless they provide a better pricing model for our use case. We definitely would renew otherwise. Our use case of resume repository and database is quite narrow, so we cannot justify paying for all the other features (which work well) that we don't use enough.

Brightmove is being used for all job postings and the job board is implemented into our website. It is our sole Applicant Tracking System(ATS).
  • Tracking Candidates
  • Posting to Free Boards
  • Tracking activity
  • Focused on Staffing, find better solutions for Corporate recruiting
  • Allow Managers to have multiple offices
  • Improve visuals of job portals
Brightmove is great for staffing companies. It needs improvement on the corporate side. Be sure to ask about its capabilities if you have more than one location. Currently a manager can be assigned to only one location. So you end up creating duplicate managers for each location. Brightmove is great for posting jobs in one place. The portal makes it easy.
  • Increased Candidates
  • Increased traffic to website
  • Better candidate screening
Brightmove is visually appealing and easy to use. It has great functionality when it comes to looking at the candidate page, job page, or a dashboard that is fully customizable. Brightmove makes it easy to post jobs to internal sites and external sites. It does lack on the corporate recruiting side, but not enough for it to not be looked at.
Brightmove has worked well as we are a company with 120 employees. For as long as we stay around this size, we will continue with Brightmove, but as we grow we will start looking for an ATS that can directly tie into our CRM (NetSuite). The price point is great for the functionality when compared to other ATS solutions.

Brightmove is used by our recruiting department. There are about 50 recruiters who support recruiting across the nation. Brightmove is used to hire about 4000 people per year. It is used to manage incoming resumes, and houses information on hiring managers. It also has an interface to our background check services.
  • Brightmove is intuitive and easy to learn and to use. It interfaces well with social media.
  • Brightmove has good capabilities to build interfaces to other systems, such as a background checking system.
  • In addition, Brightmove has a good record of being available.
  • Brightmove could use a better interface to Outlook
  • When Brightmove released a new version of its product, it had a new look and feel. My company was taken by surprise. We didn't realize that it was coming and had not trained for the changes. They did send an email, but we missed it. A phone call or two would have been a smart way to go.
  • There is a "shopping cart" for candidates; however, when you close Brightmove the cart goes away. There should be a warning message.
Brightmove is well suited to a large active team of recruiters. It is too expensive to be good for a smaller shop, especially if there are several users. If you are considering this product, I recommend that you ask about upgrades and improvements, "up time", what the service response is like, what new interfaces they are planning, what will be included in the next release, and how that new release will be communicated in advance.
  • Better customer service for our candidates
  • Increased employee efficiency
  • Better customer service for our hiring managers
I have only used one other system - it was antiquated and could not hold a candle to Brightmove.
It is a great product and our recruiters like it and find it easy to use. We also like that Brightmove will be adding more interfaces.

Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
Our change management went well. Part of the reason was that our prior system was completely out-of-date. Changing to Brightmove was like a breath of fresh air, and a welcome change. For change management, we recorded videos that showed how easy it was to use. It would have been good for Brightmove to provide some communications to assist with change management.
  • We transferred our existing resumes. This turned out to be a nightmare.
  • There was a project management company that Brightmove hired to work with the project, but they were sorry. They missed several key milestones that Brightmove should have met.
  • Brightmove underestimated the work required for the implementation. Severely underestimated.
The Info Tech conversion and implementation team was too small to meet our needs.

We used Brightmove within the recruiting department. It was used for tracking candidates through the recruiting and hiring process. In some situations the clients we were working with had access to certain areas of Brightmove so they could remain informed about positions we were working on for them.
  • Posting open positions to the web.
  • Tracking candidates who apply to positions on their own from links online.
  • Uploading resumes in bulk batches seldom works properly. Often times resumes will be missing from an uploaded batch. When this happens, time is lost figuring out which resumes were uploaded and which ones were not.
  • Attaching uploaded resumes to specific open jobs sometimes does not work correctly.
  • Searching for candidates in Brightmove is a challenge since the search functions within Brightmove are not very strong. True boolean search is not supported.
  • Emails sent to hiring managers from within Brightmove often suffer from unacceptable formatting. Because of this we would email hiring managers from our own email system rather than use the functions offered through Brightmove.
I cannot think of scenarios where I would elect to utilize Brightmove. There are simply other tools available that are stronger and more reliable.
  • Our team worked on some rather large projects and there were several times when uploading bulk batches of resumes to specific jobs was required. This process always proved to be a headache and we lost valuable time trying to manage steps that should have only taken a couple of clicks.
I greatly prefer Bullhorn over Brightmove. The email functions offered through Bullhorn are exceptional, tracking candidates is a breeze, and uploading resumes to specific job orders is a snap.
I no longer use Brightmove. If I was in an environment using Brightmove and the decision was placed on me I would not opt to renew the service.
