Bullhorn ATS & CRM was implemented to help track our practicum and co-op placements and engagement opportunities with industry members.
  • Integrated CRM and ATS solution
  • Email integration
  • Dashboard reporting
  • requires quite a bit of set up - not very out of the box friendly
  • parsing was slow and not very correct
  • relationships requires lots of maintenance and was often incorrect
For smaller businesses that needs more than what the off-the-shelf ATS can offer and needs some CRM integration, Bullhorn ATS & CRM will work. There are better solutions but also cost more.

In order to avoid confusion, Bull Horn helps us keep track of all the positions that are received from various direct clients, the number of submissions made by various team members and recruiters, and the status updates of the candidates like offers and interviews, etc. In order to learn more about the candidate's application status and make the appropriate moves, they can examine notes entered into Bull Horn.
  • Tracking of Candidate's application.
  • Submission/ Interview/ Start Reports.
  • Real Time Search and Sourcing Tool.
  • It is more complex if we compare to the other ATS like CB and Job Diva.
  • UI could be more better.
  • It is very slow to work on.
Bullhorn served as a very reliable and thorough tracking system for contacts, discovering prospects, and maintaining track of all relevant data. There are many customization options, strong search results, and sensible workflows. Excellent reporting tool. When we needed to find new resumes but all we could find were talents who had previously been discovered, it was less appropriate. Job Boards outperformed Bull Horn in terms of speed and quality.

We use Bullhorn ATS & CRM for all of our candidate and client contact information, appointment and interview scheduling, and the main point of communication and tracking for all internal notes. We use the Goals and Quotas feature to track KPIs and Revenue for our team. We also use it to track how long recs have been open and our average time to fill each open job. We also use it to send out a monthly NPS survey to our candidates to track how our recruiters are doing.
  • Mass emailing for candidates
  • Note and email tracking
  • Interview scheduling
  • Easier access for customization
  • G-Suite Calendar integration (integrates with Outlook only)
  • Better searching capabilities
We are a perm-placement-only organization and use Bullhorn solely for a CRM system and data management. It would be great if there was an outward-facing client portal as well, where both parties could enter candidates/leave feedback. I think it is better suited for contract-placing organizations.

I was recently migrated (April '22) from Sendouts ATS (15 years) to Bullhorn ATS. I find the Bullhorn product to be far inferior to the much older Sendouts product. So many ridiculous functionality issues. Search radius for candidates maxed out at 100 miles. I recruit nationally. Sendouts' search radius was 500 miles. Getting logged off the system if actions are not taken within an arbitrary time period. My personal notations on candidates require me to click several tabs to read. While scrolling through a candidate list on Sendouts I was able to clearly read my notations on the candidate's homepage. In entering search strings having to double click on skills to have them populate is a joke. The email functionality makes AOL look state-of-the-art. I could go on and on. Does anyone know of an ATS provider that can migrate me out of Bullhorn. I may be in a pickle regardless based upon a time commitment I made for the product. I just figured that if Bullhorn was the "newer, more robust survivor and acquirer" they'd have a better mouse trap. I couldn't have been more wrong. Last but not least - haven't been able to figure out the integration with LinkedIn! Sincerely, Frustrated in NY.
  • Their tech support personnel are sympathetic and reasonably informed on the phone.
  • They migrated me for free - but you know what you get for free.
  • Their logo makes sense.
  • Search radius of 100 miles is absurdly small.
  • Email functionality is archaic.
  • Establishing search strings requires double-clicking into fields.
The product is clunky at best and downright useless if needed for true applicant tracking and communications.

Bullhorn is used across our whole organization. Mainly, recruiters and branch managers use it. We use Bullhorn to manage our applicants and where there are in the process of being hired or interviewed. We are able to filter our applicants by using shortlists and tearsheets. Even if we don't have a position for the applicant, we can put them on a tearsheet or shortlist for future openings. We are also able to easily search for our applicants with their phone numbers or names making it easier to pull up their file. I use Bullhorn for probably 75-80% of my business functions with recruiting. I am not sure how I would manage without Bullhorn.
  • Filtering candidates
  • Locating candidates files
  • Keeping track of where everyone is in the process
  • Notes - leaving notes helps our entire company see where we are with each candidate
  • Shortlist status - it is tedius to have different notes and different shortlist status. Shortlist status do not really help me in recruiting
  • Textkernel in Bullhorn is sometimes difficult for me - too many clicks and buttons
  • I would like to see more details required in candidates files - like a resume. So many candidate come through with their name and phone number and nothing else. Takes a lot more time for us to find out what their background is than if it was just a required field when applying
Really great to use searching for candidates by name or phone number. It is harder to use when I have to filter by job posting. It just doesn't work as easy. I wish I could just click on a job, and see everyone who has applied for it. But instead I need to find the job, find the posting, and click on 3 other things to see who applied. It works great when I need to make notes on where I am at with any candidate.

We use it as a CRM/ATS for handling recruitment and job interview processes. We have the Corporate Edition with integration with LinkedIn Recruiter (Full).
  • The onboarding process is quite good. We were impressed with our consultant.
  • It is very buggy, and they put the onus on the user to work around those bugs. You will find yourself constantly clearing browsing data and restarting your machine just to log in or get things set up.
  • The default categories and functionality are really outdated. You can add fields yourself, but this is time-consuming, and the issues with cookies/browsing data mean you often get weird behavior when you edit the interface.
  • It is time-consuming to upload and parse CVs to the system, and not well integrated with a typical LinkedIn workflow.
  • Lack of accountability: Staff fob you off with excuses and workarounds, and nothing gets fixed. These are fixable problems, but nobody cares.
Get something more up-to-date and more tailored towards modern recruitment workflows.

BullHorn is being used across my entire organisation to
  • Track and manage client & candidate interactions.
  • Search clients & candidates based on a specific requirement or location.
  • Market to via SMS, email and phone.
  • Manage the sales pipeline effectively.
  • The ability to hashtag consultants, client contacts & candidates.
  • The ability to customise individual views at the consultant level, and from an administrator perspective customise yourself without the help of the tech team.
  • The appearance is user friendly, and there is online training to onboard new staff to the software.
  • It's old & clunky with attempts to modernise its appearance & features.
  • The search uses boolean so consultants require training to know how to search, build lists & find candidates & contacts. E.g., you write 'Bob' into search, & it won't appear but you'll add an asterisk & it will appear. If you had 'Bob Jane' in the first name, it also won't appear.
  • The filters don't work correctly. E.g., we have 'DPA' & 'Non DPA' - BH did not have the ability to differentiate between the two using the filter, because they both said 'DPA'. We had to either change the terminology (which is industry standard in the medical field) or use the advanced search rather than the filters.
  • The updating of the custom fields is clunky & not intuitive. Adding in multiple job types was limited to 3 (i.e. salary, contract & temp - we have additional types) and each one required individual customizing (fair) which then played havoc if it didn't match up to the master file which overrode the other 3. E.g., ALL custom fields were required on the master, and then you'll match up each in the individual job type as required. You'd then just include what was required in the individual job type.
  • The migration from our old CRM was poor. One example - We ended up with thousands of files that were 'New South Wales' which got turned into 'New South Western Australiales.' We were refused assistance in fixing this.
  • It's slow to load.
  • Clear your cache daily - or things will break.
  • No ability to add locations to a profile - you need to add each individual child company for it to appear in a search even when there is only one contact for the lot. For example, one of our clients has 176 medical practices and for these to appear in any searches, they had to be individually added as full profiles rather than added in as a location despite there being one recruitment contact.
I cannot suggest any company should use this system for any other reason than a learning experience - my 12 months on the platform identified what I did and didn't want in my next ATS.

We are utilizing Bullhorn ATS across our entire company at a high level. It is great way to organize both our candidate/applicants as well as job orders and client information. The interface is easy to use and will help revolutionize they way you can access and organize data in many streams.
It helps us with Process Mapping and Change Management also as we can see trends in activity and adjust accordingly
  • Candidate Tracking and Management - Easily pull up all required info and exchanges between our company and candidates
  • Client Database building - track orders and forecast clients needs
  • Customization - make the UI work for you not the other way around
  • The UI could still come a bit further. I think there is room for improvement there
Bullhorn is great for staffing and client management across the board. I think that anyone with people and job management needs could benefit from this system and it's advanced front and back end components. It is easily integrated into any environment.

Bullhorn was used to keep track of all of our candidates and prospects. It was used by both sales and recruiters. I would say that it helps recruiters a lot more than it helps sales. A lot of the info wouldn't cross over into areas it should have. It didn't provide enough options for the sales side of things. It wasn't clear who was a prospect and who was a candidate.
  • Filtering candidates
  • Tracking candidates and updating their status
  • The UI is cluttered and could be cleaned up
  • Can't combine duplicates
  • Not enough customization options
  • Glitches often
I believe this is well suited for recruiters only. If you're using this at a recruitment firm and are business development, you're going to have to get creative on how to best keep up and log your contacts. There needs to be a Bullhorn Sales area.

Bullhorn is used company-wide. We have different branches throughout Canada and the United States, and all offices using the same tool helps us keep track of candidates in different cities and make sure we aren't working with someone else's candidate.
  • It keeps all of the necessary information for each job requisition in one spot.
  • Organizes information well and succinctly.
  • Very intuitive.
  • The candidate search function isn't the easiest to use.
  • There are a lot of unnecessary tools or cards that can make the screen seem cluttered sometimes.
  • It would be nice to be able to delete notes or submissions if they're accidentally put on the wrong jobs.
  • For the TextUs integration, I think it'd be better if there was a tab for texts like there is for emails, rather than being added to the Notes field and making it very difficult to go back and find the information you need.
  • Duplicate candidates in BH -- it would be great if you could combine the accounts and delete one of them.
Communications between team members through Bullhorn is great, since you can send notes directly to email accounts to ensure they're seen.

Bullhorn is a great ATS and CRM tool to use. This helps in activity tracking, reporting, candidate searches, and managing leads. It helped in maintaining our performance metrics, and for the reporting part. It is user-friendly and easy to navigate. You can also set reminders to follow up on items that you feel you might forget, and to track past emails. This will help a lot in recruiting strategy.
  • Maintaining and managing the pool of candidates.
  • Tracking applicants and updating their status.
  • User-friendly and great customer service.
  • New features are rarely communicated, hence it does take some time to adapt.
  • Currently, there's no data mining tool available at no cost, which would allow us to clean the data.
  • Has a lag in-between, and will log you out if there is any problem with parsing the resume, but that is ok.
If you are into staffing and recruitment, this is a great tool to get, with all the features, and there are many options that you can customize based on your needs. It's easy to handle, and they have a great customer support team to address your queries on the go. Bullhorn has a reliable and nice modern user interface; you will definitely like it.

Bullhorn is mainly used by the Talent Acquisition team to track all candidates, job orders, and the hub collecting all documentation and information on interviews and our internal process. Recruiters will add candidates to the system, link them to jobs we're working, move them in the pipeline based on where they are in our internal process, add their resume and supporting documents to their files tab, and record all interviews, notes, feedback, and communication we have with candidates. We also create all our own job descriptions and create the jobs in Bullhorn.
  • Inhaling resumes from Word documents - field mapping is about 80+% accurate and will check for duplicates before savings.
  • Adding notes is very easy and can be categorized based on the type of interaction it is: email, text, phone call, etc.
  • Integrations with many 3rd party vendors that are already widely used by recruiting and staffing agencies.
  • Reporting: out of the box reporting is not very detailed or easy to navigate. In order to get better detailed and specific reports, you either need their Canvas product or pay for a 3rd party vendor.
  • Customization: will get better with NOVO Experience update, but many users still don't have it. Right now many fields and order are not customizable
  • Many features Bullhorn can do are not apparent to the user, often times you have to call in the figure things out.
Bullhorn is only appropriate for staffing/recruiting agencies, or internal corporate recruiters. It is made to track jobs, candidates, placements, and is not well suited for any other scenario. Bullhorn integrates with other, more robust software for sales and leads gen, but itself is not a sales or lead gen tool. Bullhorn works best when you integrate with the other services you're already using, like your background screening vendor, phone service, or other analytics tools.

[It's] Used as an ATS and CRM across the whole organization. Used to organize candidates, employees, prospects, and customers. Partially replaced a previous ATS/CRM.
  • Parses resumes well.
  • A lot of customization available.
  • Can set reminders easily.
  • Can post jobs easily (integrates with several job boards).
  • Nice dashboard options.
  • No back office function to pay contract workers.
  • Difficult to track multiple branches. Tends to lump info together.
  • Reporting can be difficult due to the tracking issues. A lot of manual work to pull clean data.
Easy to enter data from ATS and CRM sides. Doesn't time-out frequently. A lot of customization available.

We are currently using Bullhorn CRM across our whole agency. It has definitely increased efficiency and teamwork across the board. There are many features that help the recruiters access information and files at a faster pace. They are able to make a submission to a placement in record time. The notes features really helps keep us all on the same level of information and knowledge of how our current and active candidates are doing as well as our prospective candidates.
  • Notes features is a real hit with our recruiters.
  • Merging records whether it be duplicate jobs or candidates helps minimize duplicate information.
  • Everything is well connected, for instance a client will show all of the open jobs.
  • There are a lot of small features I would like to see as an admin such as bulk update en mass on occupation for users.
  • The limit to the amount of "Customtext" options under field mapping could be higher.
  • I would like more options to generate different types of report in different formats.
While our recruiters are speaking to prospective candidates they can create appointments and tasks while they are on the phone, it really ups the multi tasking and information sharing. We can view all tasks, and appointments from all users so we can synchronize and help each other out more efficiently.

We use Bullhorn to manage a majority of our business needs. We use the CRM features in business development as well as client retention. Bullhorn is what we use to track candidates and the entire recruiting process for our clients. Bullhorn also offers back of the house features that we use from time to time.
  • Track and manage leads and sales pipeline
  • Easy to convert leads to real sales opportunities and eventually convert the opportunities into jobs. All of this is done seamlessly with little to no duplication of content.
  • Reporting can be exported to Excel.
  • Searching databases can be clunky at times (certain contact searches don't always return data from lead database).
Bullhorn CRM is good at keeping prospect and contact information up to date. There are many plugins that help simplify processes. We have Shoretel VOIP telephone system - there is dialer plugin that dials contacts by clicking on their telephone number in the Bullhorn record. The dialer plugin also prompts to add a note to record a summary of the call.

Bullhorn is currently being used by all of our Recruiters, Account Manager and Client Services for recruitment and job order management. We also have implemented the CRM component for the prospecting component of client acquisition. The ATS is used extensively for all stages of job order management and talent acquisition. Bullhorn helps to standardize the process and track the progression of roles and candidates. This enables consistent reporting across the organization so as a team, you can look for areas of success and areas that require improvement.
  • Candidate Management- it is very easy to track and search your candidates. Candidates are the heart of your ATS in staffing and Bullhorn does a great job of making those candidates accessible.
  • Job Order Management-Being able to keep your job orders managed in a way that keeps you closest to money is a one of the best parts of the system. You can filter your lists, schedule your followups and keep on top of the orders that are the most urgent.
  • Configuration- the ability to configure the tool to the look and feel that matches your business.
  • Bullhorn CRM allows Account Managers to do their prospecting without cluttering the Company and Contact List with Company and Contacts that are not buyers or individuals that do not using staffing, not decision makers, etc. Leads allows AM's to pursue those individual within a different entity until they are vetted as buyers. The opportunities allow you to track those longer range opportunities versus storing them in a notebook or on an excel document. They become company IP for down the road.
  • Configuration of the CRM is huge asset. We have changed and configured our workflow several times over the past few years until we have decided on the workflow we want to move forward with. The tool allowed us to make these changes as we saw fit and without the time and cost of having to go through a PS channel.
  • The Lead and Opportunity dashboards help to keep you on track in a visual way so you can see the time cycle of your leads and opportunities.
  • Submission Management- Although there is a submission entity in Bullhorn that allows you to do a lot of things, this is one area that could still use improvement in terms of the ability to search web responses more efficiently and displaying of the pay/bill rates that are entered within the submission process. More configuration here would be great.
Bullhorn is well suited for any staffing organization. They continue to invest in and listen to their customers for ways to continually improve their product and to make changes that enhance the user experience. The ability to configure and customize the work flow for your organization is key, and a lot of that can be accomplished out of the box.

We use Bullhorn across the whole of Pentasia and Ambra. We have the database configured so that only on users in their respective departments (i.e. Pentasia or Ambra) can see records specific to their brand.

Bullhorn allows everyone from consultants to senior management and the board to see activity, which jobs are being worked on currently, any records which have been added recently, and other useful information. This means we are able to understand our pipeline over the coming months, if we are bringing in new business (or need a BD drive). Bullhorn also prevents awkward conversations where consultants are asking the same questions - all the information is there for everyone to see !
  • Bullhorn is really intuitive, there is so much capability, but as the database is so easy to use this isn't a problem.
  • The support team are fantastic; I can't praise them enough. I raise so many tickets and they always do their best to help.
  • We have customised our database a lot and integrated various partners to help us be the best we can. Bullhorn has always been able to cope with our demands and help us progress as a business.
  • It would be useful to have more custom fields available.
  • On placement records, the commissions are automatically split 50/50 - something which bugs our consultants as we often need the commissions to be set to 100% for reporting (unless there is a split).
  • It would be good if we could have the option of filtering by ex-users.
In the general recruitment process, Bullhorn provides enough depth to get a fully rounded view of what is happening. It is possible to get a quick overview of any record from the list view (and en-mass) which can be a time saver.

I am aware Bullhorn has brought out their own reporting function, but sometimes when wanting a quick snippet of information, this can be difficult to obtain. For example, I was asked if it was possible to see all interviews logged by an ex-user, this wasn't so easy to find.

We selected Bullhorn as an upgrade from our prior ATS, Birddog. Having used it before, I was excited for the upgrade, or so I thought. Bullhorn is not great for non-agency recruiting. The big sell was all the customization....they neglect to tell you about training and that you do it all and have no idea how. They said their customer support is amazing, which it is in theory but I unfortunately used it multiple times a day and the answers would often counter prior answers.
  • Willing to help - Many offered help.
  • Sending mass emails - great for email blasts to contacts.
  • Organizing candidates - multiple distribution lists and filters available.
  • Corporate recruiting - nothing supports a simple non-agency option for open jobs.
  • Currency - have currency options available by country vs as a customization.
  • Run through prior to launch - Customize with clients, don't just provide support once it is done incorrectly.
If you are a corporate recruiter - run. When it had broadbean it had better functionality, but to even post a job on your site it has to be customized so much, it's a nightmare.

It helps us keep track of process steps and data associated with jobs, candidates, clients, and companies we work with. We also use it as a database to access prior candidates for new searches.
  • The modern looking display is fairly intuitive and easy to use.
  • The mobile functionality looks and feels identical to the computer based interface. It is easy to view and add content.
  • The customer service is US based, friendly, knowledgeable, and follows up.
  • I would like more customization options. It is getting better, but there is a long way to go.
  • The training leave a lot to be desired. There are almost always technical issues, and you can tell the sessions are prerecorded.
  • The new reporting add-on, Canvas, is powerful, but there is not enough instruction on how to use it.
We had to do a bit a creative thinking and customization to make the system work for a retained model. I felt like the out of the box system was set up for temp placements or contingent firms.

My firm uses Bullhorn on a daily basis in order to track, update, and manage our candidate pipeline. The best part of Bullhorn Recruitment CRM is how it automates a lot of the processes that normally took our recruiting staff hours. Tearsheets, automatic reminders, and advanced search tools mean we're connecting with the right people, more quickly.
  • Automation
  • Stability
  • Flexibilty
  • Lack of Admin Tools
  • Reporting Rigidity
Bullhorn Recruitment CRM is best suited to manage candidate pipelines and client workflows. The application keeps account managers and recruiters completely up to date on how multiple interviews and submittals are working and the dashboard does a magnificent job of providing managers a snapshot of their team's performance.

We currently use Bullhorn as our ATS and CRM. We are a small company and having come from Maxhire, a very robust ATS/CRM, it took us a bit to adjust to using an online ATS/CRM, but we have and Bullhorn has been a helpful resource for us.
  • Parsing incoming resumes is a great feature. The Bullhorn ATS makes it super easy to get your candidate's information into the system.
  • Bullhorn Outlook Gadget works from inside Outlook to let you easily add resumes or other documents to records in Bullhorn or create new records. It works great and has made this process so much easier for our team.
  • The API that Bullhorn has available is a great way to automate some of your processes if you know how to utilize it. Bullhorn also provides some detailed instructions for other admins like me who want to learn more about it.
  • Support - Bullhorn's support team is phenomenal. They constantly go above and beyond my expectations to make sure any issues are resolved.
  • Editing resumes from within Bullhorn is not something they do, but it was something we had in our last system and it has been hard to adjust to not having this. This is a key feature that would keep us from having to constantly download the candidate's [information].
Bullhorn does allow for a good deal of customization to workflows and fields which Is great, but you need an administrator that's up for the challenge of scouring different Bullhorn articles to learn the best way to customize and configure your version of Bullhorn.

As a staffing agency, our entire organization uses Bullhorn CRM. Bullhorn is our main recruiting tool allowing us to easily manage sales leads, candidate leads, and all levels of the staffing process. It effectively addresses the time issue; this tool saves us a great deal of time by organizing each of our processes in a general tab format.
  • Organization - The layout of the Bullhorn interface is simple. This makes training new users easy and makes working in bullhorn stress-free.
  • Detail - Bullhorn allows us to enter and retrieve a great amount of detail within records. This allows for accurate reporting and follow-up.
  • Customization - Bullhorn is very customizable. We can easily add components and fields to the interface within each function of the CRM.
  • User Interface - Though highly customizable, the windows and popups can be quirky. The sizes of windows, for example, can sometimes be too small for the data contained and require a great deal of scrolling to navigate through.
  • Email Capability - Bullhorn would be better with a full-service email suite which included all of the functions of MS Outlook for example.
  • Data speed - We all want to work faster. Bullhorn can sometimes be a bit sluggish with the transmission of data.

Bullhorn is well-suited for the onboarding of new employees. I am able to enter and store detailed contact information and sensitive personal data about each candidate. I can make notes and store new hire documents related to the onboarding process.

Bullhorn is also well-suited for specific data retrieval. I run monthly reports to extract current employee detail in order to determine eligibility for employee benefits. By keying in a few date parameters, I'm able to see an accurate list of eligible employees.

In my capacity at Procom as admin support, I use Bullhorn every day to manage contracts for our consultants. For example when I get notice of an extension from our client for a consultant, we're able to keep track over many years of data for pay increase and previous documents. This allows us to keep things organized for our own files, as well as make sure all the requirements are being met for our client.

The whole organization uses Bullhorn for many other tasks offered by the software. I understand that recruiters use Bullhorn for job posting and other functions. I believe we also use Bullhorn at our other locations throughout Canada.

A curious problem we face today in this sort of industry of playing admin/customer support for our clients is the issue of security. This often comes up on the onboarding process. Consultants are very careful who to give out their information to, but as it is a business requirement, it proves a difficult problem. Especially when you face the problem of trying to have a backup of your internal files. Bullhorn addresses this concern by storing information securely away from our own internal database in case anything were to happen to a hard drive.
  • Security
  • Customer service on problems with the software
  • Organization
  • Data reports for the business
  • Integration
It's well suited for keeping files of our consultants and gives us the ability to pull data. To be able to keep track of everyone by the thousands (for my department alone) is an immeasurable help. This may not be suited for other businesses and fields... unless they really like creating data.

We use bullhorn across all sales groups, but currently haven't integrated our back office. It has changed how we recruit and allowed us to put trackable metrics in place to reward new recruiters on metrics other than just placements. We have the basic (out of the box) account but it allows for a ton of custom fields thru the system which we have taken advantage of and it allows us the flexibility to run our small company, with our already in place program, via a out of the box solution. We couldn't be happier with bullhorn from email integration to ability to schedule follow up all the way to the recruiting life style - it saves us hours a day in keeping our candidates and clients in one easy to find place, and keeps us much more organized. Our biggest issue with our previous system was that it had not been updated in more than 7 years and was impossible to train new users on how to search the database, resulting in many not using it at all. The new database has allowed our recruiters to easily upload (and then find again!) candidates from all recruiting platforms. It also integrates with LinkedIn so we are able to see a candidate's LinkedIn profile right from the system which has allowed us to downgrade our financial spend with LinkedIn.
  • Lifecycle recruiting system - it comes with a easy to follow process for recruiting that allows you to track a candidate thru every step of the recruiting process from discovery to placement.
  • Candidate searches - Bullhorn allows you to do simple searches where you fill in the terms to search and it creates the Boolean string, and allows the user to easily search each field or a set of fields and then sort on those fields. Or for advance Boolean users it allows you to create your own searches.
  • Note creation / tracking - the system automatically creates notes from email tracking tool so all emails are documented, and with one click it allows you to create custom notes which are also searchable.
  • Systems like smart search allow you to integrate careerbuilder, LinkedIn and other candidate databases to the system so you can search all sources via one search and load the resumes directly from that search window to your database. While bullhorn integrates with LinkedIn and allows you to post to careerbuilder (if you have jobs paid for on CB), it only allows you to see profiles of candidates already in your database. It would be nice to see bullhorn add similar features to connect the search function to search other sites.
  • Provide better customer support. The call in support seems like a crapshoot - sometimes you get a knowledge rep but more often you get someone reading from a screen with no knowledge of how the system works. It ends up consuming a lot of time to get s simple answer.
  • Customizable support for the out of the box small business solution. To add custom fields there is a "hosting fee" which means you pay $1500+ for bullhorn to create the field and then $500 per month from there forward to host the fee in your system. Bullhorn is already the most expensive option we explored and in the sales process it was explained that you'd pay to get a customs price but wasn't clear that you'd have to pay such a hefty fee each month to access that custom piece.
It is not cheap! If you are a very small firm - or just do direct hire it's probably not for you. But for a firm that's in a growth stage and wants a tool to help streamline their systems this is a good solution. We probably could have went with a more affordable option and got some benefits like the ability to search multiple platforms but generally speaking the bullhorn interface is much easier to grasp making it much more user friendly for those who aren't as technology savvy, which was important to us.

We were told when we were pricing Bullhorn "Prior to any contract signature, we’d evaluate your database and let you know if any of the fields you currently have would not be brought over via the free migration tool. If we find any fields, we will have a separate conversation on how to get that data into Bullhorn." Yea, that didn't happen and 8 months later we discovered 80K+ records "orphaned" in our database because Bullhorn didn't data map our records from SendOuts, the provider we previously used and that Bullhorn owns. When we called about why this wasn't done, we got the total runaround for almost three hours of the phone being told "I'll have to check your statement of work", "You have to pay extra for that", and finally "I'll call you back", which they didn't and have never done.

I told our account manager what happened and there was NO WAY we were renewing, because Bullhorn failed to hold up their promises from Day 1 and his response was "Please let me know who from our team informed you of the missing records."

So, our data conversion is still not complete, we are currently charged every month for 10 extra licenses that we don't use and that Bullhorn does not provide but will not stop charging us for, our company credit card has been charged twice without our authorization AND our Sales Admin is on the phone 2-3 times a week with Bullhorn Support trying to find missing data or correct a report for at least an hour every call (yesterday was three hours, we're lucky she doesn't quit us with the hassle Bullhorn puts her through). Bullhorn has been the worst vendor experience of my professional life. I have been audited by the IRS and it was easier than dealing with Bullhorn. I expect it will cost us $5-10K to restore the records if we leave IF we get all of our data back from Bullhorn.

And the reporting, the biggest reason we left SendOuts for Bullhorn was advance reporting functionality. Bullhorn's dashboards don't work (does that cost extra too?), you'll have to run 3-5 different reports to get your team's activities and check Bullhorn against their own records as client interviews and candidate prescreens will just disappear. So we have to pay for an additional software, InsightSquared, to sit on top of Bullhorn and provide those dashboards and activity metrics for another $50 a person per month, just to get what we were promised with Bullhorn. Total waste of time and money and a huge regret.

  • It's pretty
  • Boolean searchable
  • Drag & drop module formatting
  • Very slow, freezes up multiple time a day.
  • Horrible, horrible service. You will not get called back, you'll be on the phone with them for hours getting transferred or asked repeatedly what you are talking about, even while they are remotely linked in and SEEING WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ON THE SCREEN.
  • Overpromised & underdelivered. You will need to personally check to make sure they do everything they say they will and get everything in writing.
  • Overpriced and you cannot flex users down. Once you add a user, you pay for them for the rest of the contract term, whether you use that license or not.
  • Ineffectual training. You'll get a basic overview, but there are no advanced user videos, user guide or tutorials. If you want Best Practices training, you have to pay for it and I won't since the quality of the service we've received so far has been so low, why would I trust Bullhorn with more?
  • Dashboards do not work. There is no training to set up your dashboards, so best of luck to you!
  • Reporting is clunky, you'll need to run 3-5 reports to track activity (we track 6 things and have to run 3 different reports) and interviews and candidate prescreens disappear randomly.
  • You cannot trust the database when stuff just doesn't show up.
  • You will hear from your sales rep ONLY about selling to you. There is no single point of contact to take care of your problems, you get who you get when you call into support, so you will be having to reexplain the situation over and over and over again.
  • Support team does not care if they fix your problem. They just want you off the phone.
I would never recommend Bullhorn. I would recommend SendOuts if it was still supported. We will likely move to JobScience.
