Simple Powerful and Effortless Email Marketing for Small Agencies

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a small B2B digital marketing agency focusing on Lead Generation and Email Marketing, I have used Campaign Monitor by Marigold within my own company and, more importantly, for my client email campaigns. Of the competitor products I've used (MailChimp, Emma, Vertical Response, etc.) Campaign Monitor by Marigold has been my favorite by far.

Pros

  • Simple and elegant dashboard
  • Easy to understand analytics
  • Ease of use for client campaigns

Cons

  • I honestly can't think of any major improvements. I love Campaign Monitor by Marigold

Likelihood to Recommend

Campaign Monitor by Marigold is easy enough to use by small business owners with little to no experience with email marketing, but is designed for marketing agencies managing multiple client accounts. Unlike much more complex marketing software, such as HubSpot, Campaign Monitor by Marigold is incredibly easy to use 'out of the box' with very little learning curve or onboarding and setup.

Campaign Monitor by Marigold - the better email broadcast service

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Campaign Monitor by Marigold is our go-to mailing software. We use it for client email campaigns and for our own in-house email broadcast requirements. It enables us and our clients to send and track bulk emails, reporting open rates, clicks and allowing us to automate onward email journeys. It also allows us to send transactional emails from verified domains. Additionally, it has a really user friendly design interface, which allows us to create on brand and impactful emails quickly.

Pros

  • Email broadcast
  • User support
  • Design interface

Cons

  • Reporting though this is hard to achieve these days
  • Integrations with CRM's

Likelihood to Recommend

For general marketing emails and transactional emails it's very well suited. It's less well suited to situations where you might want to use it as an RSVP. We did this recently with option to click yes I can attend, no I can't attend and a lot of the mails were opened by (antispam) bots and as such all links were clicked, making it hard for us to confirm who had and hadn't responded.

A brilliantly easy to use email marketing tool that's particularly good for agencies.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I run an email marketing agency and use Campaign Monitor for client campaigns. It offers an easy way to create campaigns and allow clients access also. Including historic clients we don't work with anymore, we have around 40-50 sub accounts. The agency version of the product suits this well and the user interface has developed to be very nice to use.

Pros

  • Deliverability generally seems very good
  • User interface is excellent and one of the main reasons I use it for clients who haven't used email marketing much before. Compared with MailChimp, for example, it's much easier to use.
  • Straightforward and easy to use email builder
  • Good reporting

Cons

  • I'd prefer a central contact list with tags, rather than multiple lists. I can have one person on 5 lists and that counts as 5 subscribers.
  • While the email builder is very good, I'd prefer more customisation options.
  • Updates they make are good, but are perhaps a little slow.
  • I'd like better mobile compatibility. I get that might not be possible for the email builder (although aiming for that would be great) but for lists, reports etc there's no reason that shouldn't be mobile-compatible or have a mobile app.

Likelihood to Recommend

For most businesses who use email marketing already, or haven't used it before, Campaign Monitor is a great app. If you need more advanced automations or tie-ins with other tools as part of your automations, it's a little limited. I like that you can use the app in full and pay-per-campaign. For some businesses who don't send often, that'll be a big plus point not offered by other apps.

Easy to use and scales with you

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We focus on opt-in email as a way to increase engagement with our followers and fans. Campaign Monitor by Marigold is great way for us to do just that. We appreciate that the pricing is tiered to scale as we grow the list, and the built in templates are all mobile optimized and easy to use.

Pros

  • It was super easy to set up a welcome series for when people subscribe
  • The analytics are useful and easy to review in aggregate or by campaign
  • The template options are all beautifully designed and mobile optimized

Cons

  • Sometimes the editor can be a bit finicky when you click in to edit/swap out an image or link
  • The documentation can sometimes be tricky to follow, but does seem to cover everything we've thought of
  • I would love to see sequence templates

Likelihood to Recommend

Campaign Monitor by Marigold is great at both scaling up as you grow (i.e. for a startup or if you're starting fresh on building a subscriber list) and providing more than just basic templates and tooling. We vetted across a lot of different options to account for where we were starting and where we hope to grow into with our opt-in email marketing, and Campaign Monitor stood out.

Campaign Monitor Send Mass Emails EASILY

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our Marketing team utilizes Campaign Monitor to create many different segmented lists. Then we would send out multiple different campaigns in mass. The integration with Salesforce is a huge plus for us because it also relates to the contact record in Salesforce. The price is also very good for us since we are a nonprofit so they will work with you in that regard.

Pros

  • Mass email Sends
  • Segmented Lists
  • Salesforce Integration

Cons

  • Trouble with the locality of recipients is not accurate
  • Unsubscribe Checklists do no update to Checklists in Salesforce
  • UI could be upgraded also

Likelihood to Recommend

It is best suited for simple, yet mass campaigns, where you have your mail emailing list, and you send out periodical emails to that group. It is excellent with that. It gets dicey when you start segmenting and breaking down that main list into separated lists, based by region. It is challenging to do that.

Terrible support [in my opinion]

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

we use it for all our marketing. It helps us contact customers with direct, pertinent information

Pros

  • easy to create
  • videos
  • user friendly dashboard

Cons

  • customer service
  • support calls
  • support channels
  • Service Level Agreement - turnaround times

Likelihood to Recommend

[Ibelieve] Campaign Monitor is awful when you need support. I've had an open support call for 3 weeks and they haven't even started work on it yet!!! Had I known I'd have used another provider and my email campaign would be out by now. No one has contacted me despite many attempts from my side.

Easily design and mange email campaigns and distribution lists

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Campaign Monitor is used for email marketing by our marketing and sales departments. The software allows us to manage our email distribution lists and send communications to our clients and leads easily in one cohesive platform. The service allows us to create multiple templates and design and create and manage multiple lists based on our customers preferences.

Pros

  • Email Lists
  • Email Design
  • Organization
  • Functionality
  • Ease of Use

Cons

  • Customization Options
  • Integration with Outlook
  • Integration with Canva

Likelihood to Recommend

I've used a lot of email marketing programs in the past and many of them were painfully clunky when it came to creating the designs. Campaign Monitor has been the easiest and most consistent in terms of design. How an email looks when you see it on the design page is how it looks when it is sent to email recipients.

Does what it says on the box. Recommended, especially for small-ish orgs

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Campaign Monitor as our email marketing platform. We send emails like, EDMs, invitations, transactional emails, event communications, and automated responses. Marketing leads its use, but it is being used by other teams. We are using it in tandem with CRM/other database systems where we manage contacts.

Pros

  • Personalization: Being able to add many custom fields to personalize an email sent is great.
  • Viewing results: The reporting dashboards are simple and intuitive.
  • Transactional emails: It was super easy to hook up via Zapier.
  • API and connectors to other platforms.

Cons

  • Managing different subscriptions requires some thinking and setup with custom fields/lists/segments. It's not really 'out of the box' to set up.
  • The WYSIWYG editor is pretty locked down, which makes it idiot-proof, but would be great to have a little more control over padding, line height, kerning, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

It can't do some heavyweight enterprise stuff or customization, but we've traded that off for ease of use for multiple users who are not subject matter experts. The interface is intuitive, making activities like segmentation (particularly behavior-based: e.g. 'users who opened X campaign and did not click') and automation a lot easier to implement. I think this is great for a smaller-scale org that doesn't have a lot of tech/dev specialist resources.

Creating customer journeys has never been more approachable and straightforward

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Campaign Monitor to drive revenue and engage with our customers on a personal level by automating the email marketing process. We design unique emails that are personalized based on the customer behavior so that we send special offers that are more targeted to a specific group of customers/individual customer.

Pros

  • Customization of templates to showcase our brand
  • Precise adjustments of every campaign aspect in the email builder
  • Sending mass mailouts

Cons

  • Split testing is limited to 2 variants
  • Support is available on email and tickets only.

Likelihood to Recommend

[Campaign Monitor] is a platform that offer users a quick and easy way to design personalized messages to send to their customers and also enable them to optimize their campaigns with the help of detailed reports and advanced analytics. It is suitable for sending out mass emails and setting of program autoresponders.

Awesome Templates. Easy and intuitive Automation Workflows

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Campaign Monitor to reach out to dentists on the top of the funnel and nurture them with education content until they are ready to send us a case to our lab. Then we move to sending more actionable emails with CTA geared towards making a decision to send a case. Campaign Monitor has been managed mostly by marketing but it has stakeholders in the education and branding departments.

Pros

  • Email templates are very easy to use and have a professional style.
  • Reporting is very dynamic and easy to pull the data you need.

Cons

  • The key field for matching accounts is email which is difficult for companies with multiple business units. One customer may use email across multiple business accounts. It should have a way to better match accounts for a unique record.
  • The premier version at $149 is a bit expensive for what it offers. It should have some price layer between $29 and $149, perhaps with the engagement features for segments.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your company can identify customers by email only, then Campaign Monitor is for you. It really makes it easy to build audiences and follow-up with them, either manually or automatically. Campaign Monitor's advanced automation journeys allow you to create journey email series that could nurture users and educate them until they are ready to send your first order.
