Campaign Monitor is a versatile email marketing software that has been widely used across various industries. Users have found the product valuable for a range of use cases. For instance, it serves as a content editor and mail server, seamlessly integrating with social media apps, custom web apps, and more. This allows users to send out well-designed and effective communication pieces both internally and externally. Furthermore, Campaign Monitor is often utilized as a CRM, enabling users to personalize emails based on customer behavior and automate the email marketing process. This has proven particularly useful for reaching out to volunteers, program participants, donors, and board members effectively through newsletter marketing. The software also offers deep integration with popular platforms like Facebook apps, WordPress websites, and custom-built web apps.

One of the key benefits of Campaign Monitor is its ability to create segmented lists and send out mass campaigns. This versatility makes it suitable for organizations of all sizes. For example, a real estate company in Texas utilizes the software across their entire organization to deploy email marketing campaigns for new subscribers and clients. Additionally, Campaign Monitor plays a crucial role in promoting events, products, and services within an organization by the marketing department. It helps address the need for targeted communication with dentists, nurturing them with educational content until they are ready to send a case. Moreover, Campaign Monitor's integration with Salesforce proves to be a huge plus for users as it relates to contact records.

Users appreciate the simplicity and reliability of the software, along with its spam filters and reporting capabilities on list hygiene. With a wide range of email templates available, users find Campaign Monitor's templates highly customizable without requiring code modification. This user-friendly interface extends to the backend of the software as well. While users would appreciate deeper analytics in campaign stats presentation, they find that Campaign Monitor provides them with a range of analytics to make better decisions for their marketing strategies. Overall, Campaign Monitor has become a go-to solution for businesses looking to improve their email marketing efforts, offering easy management of lists and subscribers along with good support and compatibility with various plugins for other platforms.

Easy to use and navigate: Users find Campaign Monitor very easy to use and navigate, with an intuitive user interface that provides everything they need without the need for extensive searching. Many reviewers have stated this as a positive aspect of the platform.

Well-designed templates: The templates provided by Campaign Monitor are well-designed and mobile optimized, allowing users to create professional-looking emails and newsletters easily. Users appreciate the ability to customize the templates or create their own, even without web design experience. This feature has been praised by numerous reviewers.

Clean and easy email builder: The email builder in Campaign Monitor is clean and easy to use, enabling users to effortlessly insert images, links, texts, and make precise adjustments to every aspect of their campaigns. Several users have mentioned how simple it is to create visually appealing emails using this feature.

Limited Collaboration Features: Some users have expressed frustration with the lack of collaboration options in the email generator, as it has caused issues in the past when multiple team members were working on the same email campaign.

Restrictive Split Testing: Users find it limiting that split testing is only available for two variants, which can be restrictive for those who want to test multiple variations.

Inconvenient Social Sharing: Campaign Monitor lacks native social sharing features, requiring users to visit a third-party site to obtain social sharing buttons. Additionally, editing social cards within Campaign Monitor is not possible, resulting in unformatted preview images when shared on social media.

Users commonly recommend the following:

  1. Thoroughly research and compare Campaign Monitor with other platforms before making a decision. Users suggest fully learning how to use Campaign Monitor properly, as it may not be the most user-friendly tool out of the box. They also recommend considering the price of other software options before choosing Campaign Monitor.

  2. Users suggest trying Campaign Monitor if you want to optimize flow and project management, and develop various templates. They recommend Campaign Monitor for companies that handle a large number of customers, as it is easy to learn and offers excellent marketing automation capabilities. However, users also suggest considering competitors like Mailchimp for a less expensive option with less robust nurture emails.

  3. Users recommend Campaign Monitor for its simplicity in email creation, integration with other applications, and affordable pricing. They suggest creating professional-looking email templates and utilizing the dynamic reporting dashboard in Campaign Monitor. Users believe Campaign Monitor is the best option on the market for sending and managing campaigns, offering easy email creation and subscriber list management.

Overall, users highly recommend trying Campaign Monitor due to its powerful features, reasonable costs, and value for money. They suggest thoroughly researching and comparing it with other platforms to ensure it meets all requirements and pricing expectations.

Campaign Monitor is a lot easier to pick up in comparison to Marketing cloud where I believe you need a Marketing Cloud specialist to dedicate themselves to the platform. I am a Salesforce Admin, and majority of the time, the Marketing team would need my assistance to help navigate them through the platform. It was a learning curve for me as well however, Campaign Monitor I was able to pick up in very little time. We are currently evaluating HubSpot as a potential option in the near future.

To be honest I haven't tried the competition because they seemed to be very good. I am sure the product is excellent - it's the support I am unhappy with. If support was better I would be more comfortable with them - but I cannot recommend a product where you can't 100% trust they will fix any issues quickly and responsively.

Campaign Monitor is better than the competition because the design editor works better than any other program I've used in the past such as Mailchimp and Constant Contact. The designs are more dynamic and you don't need to know how to tweak code to get it to lay out appropriately. It's very user friendly and has more design flexibility.

The ability to track the effectiveness of email marketing campaigns in real-time is what makes Campaign Monitor interesting to use. All the vital features that we need to run professionally designed email campaigns that look wonderful on any device so that we boost our business are included in this platform.

Campaign Monitor is much easier to use to create marvelous emails based on their templates. Their collection of templates is impressive. It's all drag and drop. Super easy! Also it offers a much more robust platform than Mailchimp for automation features, like building segments based on triggers. I also like the fact that Campaign Monitor has their own app store. Knowing Campaign Monitor offers integration with over 200 apps is a sign that in the future if we needed to integrate with any other system, that integration process would be smooth.

Campaign Monitor isn't as fun to use as Mailchimp and doesn't have as many features, but the email builder is better if that's what's important to you. HubSpot's email builder is less reliable but more flexible, and it comes with way more automation/workflow options, better list management, and a suite of other marketing tools (also way more expensive).

Campaign Monitor, in my opinion, is much better than Mailchimp and Constant Contact because of their ability to protect end-users from spammy emails. Constant Contact and Mailchimp essentially let you send whatever you'd like with no regard to the end-user. Campaign Monitor does not stack up against SharpSpring very well, but SharpSpring is much more than just an email platform so I could be comparing apples and oranges.

Not as comprehensive as other email marketing platforms, and not as competitive when it comes to pricing for entry-level users. It does have advantages in the easy to use drag-and-drop editor, but not enough to truly stand out from the competition.

Again, this platform is best used when combined with other platforms. Businesses and/or agencies that have a separate template builder or dedicated designer will likely have a better experience with this platform.

Ease of use is a priority for us because when we recommend a solution, we want it to be intuitive for our clients. For this reason, Campaign Monitor was preferred over providers such as AWeber and Constant Contact. MailChimp is the other that we find comparable to Campaign Monitor and right now the decision is personal preference only.

MailChimp and ConstantContact try to do too much and do it very poorly. They are slow, clunky, and ugly. They cater to simple users instead of giving pros the tools they need. Convert kit is only good for bloggers or people selling ebooks, but I have used Campaign Monitor for literally any kind of client you can think of from worldwide retail leaders to a local dentist.

We moved from MailChimp to Campaign Monitor because we thought it was a step up. The automation, targeting, and testing with Campaign Monitor is more advanced than what MailChimp had to offer. Since using Campaign Monitor for about 7 months now, I can say that Campaign Monitor is better on many levels, except the email builder. I think MailChimp’s email builder is more intuitive and has some features that Campaign Monitor lacks, like social sharing buttons and the ability to update HTML.

We had a couple demos with Emma as well. Emma and Campaign Monitor are super comparable and there were no huge differences between the two. The reason we ended up going with Campaign Monitor is because it's more widely used and well established. Ironically, Campaign Monitor now owns Emma.

I have tried both MailChimp and Constant Contact. Constant Contact required a lot of custom work just to get it to do what I needed. MailChimp was a bit too aggressive with their lists, and I would get frequent bounces from addresses that I knew were valid. It was very frustrating. I have yet to experience either of these issues using Campaign Monitor.

We use a variety of products in this space for all kinds of purposes. This is a simple solution to get you started. When we first started with them, they billed themselves as a simple email tool for designers, which largely remains their legacy. Every product they offer is aimed at making things simple for their customer to send and manage email. As your needs grow, the tool you use will need to grow as well, but this is a good place to get started.

I have used all of the competitors of Campaign Monitor, and I would say it stacks up well with any of them. They all have their own various features that set them apart from their competitors. I personally like the visual workflow builder of AutoPliot, but I like the email designer better in Campaign Monitor. I personally picked this platform because out of all of them it had the most consistent and well rounded features of all the platforms that mean the most to me and what I do. I enjoy the email designer, list management, and campaign features. I would like to see some more development in the ares of building journeys that can be use cross platforms like SMS.

I haven't used Constant Contact in ages. Couldn't tell you right now how it compares as email marketing tools get updated so frequently. That's a great thing about this platform and stream of technology - it changes so much. If you are thinking of evaluating tools, it's best to do demos from a wide range of tools (even if you have used them before) to see if they have updated functionality that you used to hate or added something really cool. MailChimp is a good tried & true sender. Sometimes I think the interface is a bit too basic but I am a more experienced email marketer. I use it for my non-profit work and my less-technically-savvy colleagues are able to use it with ease.

Once templates are set up, Campaign Monitor seems to be easier to use for novices than either MailChimp or Vertical Response. There is less back-and-forth between steps, and Campaign Monitor seems to want to usher you along all the steps as quickly as possible without the need for reviewing and testing. A/B testing is a breeze, and can automatically send emails after a certain threshold is reached.

This comes at a price, as emails turn out to be more formulaic and less dynamic.

I think campaign monitor is easier to use on the agency level as well as from a dashboard. MailChimp seems more rudimentary to me for some reason. I also really like the co-branding you can set up for your business with campaign monitor to track to your own website link as well as color scheme your dashboard to your brand.
