Campaigner is a versatile marketing tool that solves various problems in the world of email marketing and SMS. Users have found it particularly useful for mass marketing and email campaigns, as it allows them to combine and group mail in one step. With its fast, simple, and understandable interface, users can easily send a large number of emails at once, saving time and effort. Additionally, Campaigner offers automation and analytic features that address the biggest challenges faced by e-marketers. Users can design plans, automate emails, create responsive landing pages, and customize forms to enhance their marketing efforts.

One of the key advantages of Campaigner is its ability to connect and inform customers effectively. The software tracks email engagement, providing valuable insights that enable users to make informed decisions. It has also been used as a backup email platform when other tools do not allow sending to non-opted-in emails. Moreover, customer support for Campaigner is highly regarded and considered top-tier, ensuring that users receive assistance whenever needed.

However, there are some limitations associated with Campaigner. Some users have reported difficulties in integrating with major platforms like Wordpress, which can impact subscription lists. Additionally, while the software provides responsive design templates, customization can be challenging for some users. Nevertheless, Campaigner's customer support has been commended for their responsiveness and helpfulness.

Overall, Campaigner serves a wide range of purposes for its users. It enables them to market directly to customers, distribute valuable information, conduct media outreach activities, and more. Whether it's creating salesy emails or regular newsletters, businesses like the Brampton Beast utilize Campaigner's functionalities to develop effective email marketing campaigns. It has also been used as a white-label application by companies allowing their clients to send newsletters and eblasts.

In summary, Campaigner proves to be a reliable program for accomplishing various email marketing needs. With its user-friendly interface, powerful automation features, actionable insights through analytics, and top-tier customer support, it has become a go-to tool for businesses looking to engage customers effectively and optimize their marketing efforts.

Reliability: Users consistently mention that Campaigner is a reliable email marketing tool, with no issues of emails being marked as spam. This positive aspect has been mentioned by many reviewers and contributes to their overall satisfaction with the product.

Customer Service Availability: The availability of customer service is highly valued by users, who report that the support team is always accessible and helpful. This positive experience with customer service indicates a strong level of support provided by Campaigner.

Ease of Use: Reviewers find Campaigner easy to set up and use, praising the user-friendly dashboard and features such as split testing and automation. The ease of use and availability of these features contribute to a positive user experience, which has been highlighted by multiple users.

Difficult to unsubscribe: Several users have expressed frustration with Campaigner's unsubscribing process. They have found it challenging to unsubscribe from email campaigns, and some even encountered issues when trying to re-subscribe. This lack of ease in managing subscriptions can lead to a negative user experience and may result in customers feeling trapped or annoyed by unwanted emails.

Branded footer overlaps content on mobile devices: A recurring issue reported by users is that Campaigner's branded footer overlaps with the content when newsletters are viewed on mobile devices, particularly Apple devices. This layout problem can make it difficult for recipients to read the entire newsletter and negatively impacts its visual appeal. It is crucial for businesses using Campaigner to ensure their newsletters are properly displayed across different devices for an optimal user experience.

Lacks critical functionalities and integrations: Users have voiced their disappointment in Campaigner's limited capabilities compared to other email marketing platforms. Specifically, they have highlighted its lack of critical functionalities such as integrations with popular platforms like Wordpress. Additionally, users find it challenging to create attractive sign-up forms for websites or popups within Campaigner's interface. These limitations hinder users' ability to fully leverage their email marketing efforts and may prompt them to explore alternative solutions that better cater to their needs.

We were using Campaigner to support an offshoot business unit since their audience was disparate from our primary audience. Setup was ok- it does allow you to setup SPF and DKIM. The aim was to use it to send a moderate amount of emails on a monthly basis to keep this audience separate from our primary business tools.
  • Easy to send tests
  • Emails without extra code from the tool
  • Easy to find results
  • Customer service is slow (1 week or more between responses at times)
  • Shared IPs get on blacklists frequently
  • Not responsive to customers- their solution is usually to spend more money rather than fixing the issue they are having
  • Without a dedicated IP, you are likely to be on an IP with spammers. We noticed that one IP they assigned us was on 16 blacklists.
  • 30 day notice of cancellation required- meaning after you have a bad experience and your emails won't deliver and they won't fix it, you'll still have to pay them for a service that is unusable.
If you are a small business who just wants a passable service, this tool will suit you. It does have WYSIWYG tools to create emails and test sends are easy. It does a decent job of reporting too.

If, however you are a larger company, I suggest you look elsewhere. There are plenty of other solutions that do this better (I liked My Emma from a previous position where we were doing small to medium sends) for less money and will actually provide decent customer service if you contact them.
  • Doesn't deliver on the premise- sending emails that people will actually get in their inbox
  • Tool is very functional, but without being able to successfully send, it doesn't matter much

We have used Campaigner across our whole organization since 2015. We send a monthly e-newsletter to 70,000+ contacts and a weekly email series to 25,000+ contacts. We also run several autoresponder campaigns when prospects sign up for trials of our software. This is a series of emails based on days from sign up date.
  • Workflows to create a series of emails over a long period of time
  • List definition to segment contacts by various criteria
  • Ability to add and utilize custom fields
  • Ability to download contact list in Excel for cleanup and then re-upload into the system
  • Technical support experiences have been awful
  • Lack of communication about releases, feature changes and issues
  • No ability to spam proof sign up forms with captcha
  • Workflows stopped working without explanation or notification
  • Report features are lacking
Workflow feature makes this best suited for those who want to send a series of emails over time based on contact attributes and behavior.
Ability to add custom fields and define segments makes this tool valuable for very targeted email campaigns.

Lack of communication about releases and poor technical support means your users will need to be fairly skilled in critical thinking and more technical than average. Our knowledge of system came from lots of trial and error.
  • Makes it easy for us to stay in contact via outbound email with 70K plus contacts
  • Heavy upfront investment in creating workflows pays off once they are working
  • Custom fields and exports to Excel have helped us better understand our customer base

Aweber - used this pre 2015. It did not provide a single opt in option. it allowed us to download our contact list into Excel but we could not re-upload any changes we made to cleanup or add to data.

Campaign monitor - we did not like the user interface as well and as I recall it did not have a similar workflow feature.
Great features but awful tech support experiences over five years of use. Some releases broke our workflows and Campaigner could never explain why. Our initial plan provided a designed client support contact. This individual changed frequently without notice and at one point they decided our plan no longer included a designated contact. Of course this was never communicated to us until we tried to reach out to the person.

If you are tech savy this system might be for you but you'll be on your own.
Over five years I rarely had an interaction I was satisfied with. General tech support staff did not seem to be trained on anything but the basics of the system. They would open tech support tickets, give me a case # and then we would hear nothing. We still have open tickets from years ago.

Software releases were never communicated. New features never announced. For an email marketing company they did not use email to communicate to me well at all. Every email I received was trying to sell me what I had already bought.

We use Campaigner across our entire company to send out marketing emails twice a week every week and have been using them for eight years now. We use Campaigner to notify customers of potential sales we have and other promotions via marketing campaigns that we create in house.
  • Campaigner is easy to use and quite easy to design email marketing campaigns for but not drag and drop like mailchimp.
  • Campaigner makes it easy to collect new subscribers from our customers via a simple sign up portal.
  • Campaigner allows us to send large amounts of emails without much effort.
  • Though I prefer using another tool like photoshop, campaigners campaign creation tool looks quite easy to use.
  • Campaigner is just too bare-bones. When we first started using Campaigner close to a decade ago it was perfect for what it was. But nowadays Campaigner is missing several features that their competitors offer like exit intent and cart abandonment emails.
  • Campaigner has an astonishingly bad unsubscribe option. We have had many customers complain to us over the years that when they try to unsubscribe through the emails Campaigner sends, their unsubscribe does not go through.
  • Hard to change account settings such as changing our subscription plan. We had to call and were told to wait 24 hours just to make a small change to our account.
At its current state, I would recommend Campaigner to someone looking to use a simple email marketing tool for someone just starting out or, in our use case, if they use Campaigner in conjunction with another email marketing tool that offers cart abandonment emails and exit intent popups.
  • Campaigner has cost us valuable time in the times that customers had complained to us that their unsubscribe emails did not go through and we had to manually go into campaigners website and manually remove those emails.
  • Campaigner has offered an easy way for us to send marketing emails for quick and effective usage.

As I have used both I would compare campaigner most closely to Mailchimp, both offer an extremely easy to use and quick method of sending out email marketing campaigns and are both cheap. However, with all the simplicity comes the issue of not being robust enough and after doing trials and working with other companies such as Constant Contact and Zoho I would steer business that is expanding into those two.
No
Everything takes a minimum of 24 hours to solve and after being with campaigner for several years we were just told for the first time we have an account rep which we never even spoke to.

We use Campaigner as a 3rd party application that our clients can use to send newsletters. We have a white label account that we've skinned with our logo and color scheme. Not all of our clients use it, as it is a paid feature. It addresses the need for those of our clients who need to send newsletters and eblasts to be able to do so.
  • Email Customization
  • Contact Management
  • Form
  • Workflow Processes
  • Account Customization
  • More Newsletter Scheduling options
  • Faster Customer Support
Campaigner is well suited in the Newsletter realm. If you need to send eblasts and newsletters, Campaigner has the functionality. If a client is just sending of one-off emails here and there, it doesn't make sense to use Campaigner. It is a great tool for mass marketing and email campaign marketing.
  • We are able to sell Campaigner as a premium feature
  • The plans can be a bit pricey
  • We do cover cost by using their flexible "bucket" model.

MailChimp is far more customizable and User-Friendly, although Campaigner gets the job done. Campaigner could benefit from a design upgrade to bring their look into the modern realm. The drag and drop features and email customization of MailChimp, Campaigner is lacking. However, MailChimp is pricier. So you are definitely getting what you pay for.

For the Brampton Beast we use Campaigner to create all of our email marketing campaigns. We send all sorts of emails from the very salesy stuff to just regular newsletters. It works great because it is so easy to use that anyone can get started on a campaign and it doesn't have to go straight to the digital team every time.
  • Number 1, is it's ease of use. We have not run into any problems where someone finds Campaigner difficult to use and this comes in handy every day. The more people that know how to use it the better because it reduces stress/buildup on others.
  • We love the reporting system here. We use the clicks and opens to follow up with people all the time so to have all that detailed information is very beneficial.
  • Customization is great. You can really make all your emails look exactly like they're pictured in your head.
  • They one thing I would adapt is an easier use of columns. Sometimes you would like to have a column only go halfway down the page as oppose to the whole page but that can be worked around. There really isn't much I would change.
We look for 2 things in an email campaign software: how detailed the reporting system is and ease of use. Both of these features are supported here. When I mention the reporting system, we need to be able to see who clicked on which links as well being able to pull their phone number or email so that we can then follow up with them. In all honesty I cannot see a situation where Campaigner would be less appropriate to use if you are looking for an email marketing software.
  • Increased employee efficiency for sure. This goes back to the ease of use. I was able to teach a large portion of my staff how to use campaigner in less than an hour and they were then able to create (or at the very least, create a template that would need some slight adjustments from the digital team) effective campaigns and thus reduce the workload that comes to the digital team freeing us for other projects.
We were using a different client before and the ease of use was just not there. You needed to know a lot of HTML and little tricks to manipulate the system. You don't need all that for Campaigner. The drag and drop function is amazing. It is also easier to pull reports than what we were previously doing. The combination of these two things is great.
I can't see us not renewing unless we find something better. This is highly unlikely because there was a thorough research done for use to chose the best marketing client and it always came back to campaigner.
15
Everything from the digital team to the sales team. I have taken the time to teach everyone the basics and they all now know how to use it to create their own campaigns.
4
It's mostly the digital team. Those who have a background in design and IT.
  • Ticket sales
  • Weekly newsletters
  • Schedule updates
  • Honestly, campaigner has allowed us to do everything we've wanted.
  • Drag and drop.
  • Reporting features
  • None.
Why? Because it's so so simple. Teaching the rest of the staff to use it was a breeze and now everyone can create their own marketing campaigns. Not only that, nut they can also pull the clicks and opens on their own, lightening my workload for the better. It's awesome in every way.
