Ceridian Dayforce is our comprehensive Human Capital Management (HCM) system providing us with HR administration, HR analytics, Employee/Manager Self Service, Payroll, Talent, Compensation Management, and Time and Attendance solutions. It is being used enterprise-wide to support our employees through the employment life cycle. We implemented in 2018 and the product has solved numerous HR challenges and centralized much of our HR experience into one platform for our employees.
  • Product innovation
  • Managing complex pay & time off polices
  • Service andsSupport
  • Integrated services and software
  • Position management and dynamic org planning.
  • Reporting design can be challenging and requires technical aptitude.
  • Lacks an integrated HR service center and ticketing capability.
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for employers with a high degree of complexity in their HR policies and procedures. It can handle almost any complexity that is thrown at it regarding divergent pay policies, union rules, time off plans, etc. We have been able to automate almost all of the manual work we were doing in previous systems to manage the complexity in our policies presented by heavy representation of our front line workforce by several different unions. Ceridian is also great for employers who desire a one-stop-shop for both the delivery of software and HR services. For example, payroll logistics and tax services are native offerings to Ceridian vs. outsourced to a 3rd party, thus streamlining your relationship between software and service providers in HR.

We use Dayforce as our HR and Payroll system of record.
  • Houses all information in one place
  • Payroll process is fairly simple
  • It's not designed for a company as complex as ours and we have had to "make it work" in some cases
  • Does not handle employees working at multiple legal entities well
  • Many branches of the product that do not work well.

We use Ceridian Dayforce for many functions of our company. We use the following modules/solutions
Workforce Management, Recruiting, Learning Management System, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Human Resources and Benefits. These modules all work cohesivley together which makes the the job of administering these functions much easier and more efficient. Also, the Ceridian support team is great and provides great service when we encounter an issue.
  • Staying on top of HRIS tech trends
  • Great support team
  • The easy flow of data between modules
  • Provide more training opportunities for end-users
  • Make configuring workflows/forms easier for new admins
  • Transitioning from Silverlight to HTML has been hard to adjust - more support needed
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for any company, regadless of size or industry. Ceridian Dayforce provides the Admins with flexibility to configure the system to meet the company's business needs. I can't think of a situation where Dayforce wouldn't be an solution for a company looking for a HRIS.

We use it for payroll, benefits and HR onboarding for our new hires. It’s a great system that we’re able to use for multiple functions across the organization.
  • Multiple business functions
  • Easy to run off cycles to pay employees as soon as possible if any pay errors occur.
  • Stores a lot of information
  • System bugs need to be fixed, for example, sometimes certain forms in the onboarding don’t work.
  • Better formatting for reports, being able to run reports for all data such as PTO balances.
It’s great that you can check an employee’s pay instantly rather than having to run a preview and waiting for it to be ready to view. The employee self-service is great, giving them the chance to update their own information at any time. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the messages and errors/warnings after you’ve imported a file so I think that can be improved to make it simpler for the user.

We are using Dayforce across our whole organization. The modules that we purchased are recruiting, payroll, comp., benefits, talent and performance management, scheduling and advanced scheduling. Moving to Dayforce has fixed a multitude of problems that we were previously experiencing, the biggest one being a multitude of disjointed systems that didn't communicate with each other. We also had a lot of manual processes in place simply because our systems didn't allow us to automate it. With having everything in place we no longer have to go to multiple systems to find what we were looking for.
  • Understand their customers and listens to feedback when looking at new features.
  • During implementation, it seems like they throw a lot at you at the very beginning and we found that a lot of the times they were putting the cart before the horse.
Ceridian is great if you have an organization that is highly complex and needs a system that can be completely customizable. It's also very well suited for organizations that are in multiple states and/or countries. They have all applicable taxes and employment laws already in the system so you don't have to think twice about accurate data.

Here at Orvis all of our departments use Ceridian Dayforce to clock in and out of shifts as well as in and out of breaks and lunch. Most of the employees use it for keeping up with their schedules as well as requesting time off. Ceridian Dayforce also allows us to transfer between departments so management can see when each employee was in which department.
  • Ceridian Dayforce does well at allowing us to clock in.
  • Ceridian Dayforce Is great for keeping up with your schedule and requesting time off.
  • Ceridian Dayforce is also great for tracking what employees are working in which department.
  • once you have finished typing in your employee number it automatically enters without confirmation so it's easy to clock someone else in or out if you press a wrong number.
  • On occasion, punches don't seem to register but this is rare but ongoing.
  • Ceridian Dayforce will freeze up occasionally but closing it and reopening it works to fix that.
Ceridian Dayforce is only used for scheduling, clocking in and out, tracking peoples on the clock times and locations. It also keeps track of your previous time worked so you can look back to see when you worked previously. It really has no function beyond the schedule and the time clock functions.

Ceridian Dayforce is being used by the whole company for our HR needs. We use it for payroll, time off, clocking in and out, and benefits. They have a website and also an app that works very well together. It helps to have everything in one place and not have to use several different companies for each HR process. This way you login to one place and can take care of everything. Works very well.
  • It logs as you punch in and punch out.
  • You can see the history of all your punch ins and punch outs, and days you are scheduled to work.
  • It shows you allowed time off and how much is left.
  • It has pay-stubs.
  • It has your benefits info and enrollment.
  • The website doesn't work well in chrome, you need to use
  • Would like more stuff in the app
For pay stubs it's great, it has all the current and old info; it has your time off amount. It would be nice if it showed all the history of time off, when it was received, when it was used/applied etc. instead of just one number of how much is left. You can see a calendar of when you're scheduled to work, and holidays off. The website doesn't work in Chrome, not all the features are available, it would be nice if they made it work. The app is great you can see a lot of stuff right from your phone. Overall it's very good.

It is used for time and attendance and payroll across our entire company in the US and Canada. Our retail locations use advanced scheduling.
  • Keeping up with compliance issues (ie. scheduling ordinances).
  • The up-time is really good. We haven't had an outage in quite a while.
  • I see new enhancements every year.
  • We would have like to have seen more parity in the tools when they transitioned from Silverlight to HTML.
  • Helping their clients being prepared for upgrades.
  • Sometimes I don't think they understand how change management works for large organizations.
Overall I would recommend it for retail. Our stores like it much better than our previous scheduling system. They also help us stay up on the latest compliance changes.
As a retailer, we do not like that they expect us to take code updates in December. I understand that we need to take tax updates to support payroll year-end, but we should not be expected to take any bug fixes that we do not need.

Dayforce is currently being used in our 40 corporate owned retail stores across 4 brands. We currently use both the scheduling, analytics and time and attendance modules. We implemented Dayforce to optimize scheduling and payroll costs for our 40 stores. Our goal is to reduce payroll by 5-7% across the department by the end of 2020.
  • User friendly People profile for each employee
  • Scheduling with traffic curve
  • Easy timesheet approval
  • Budget thresholds for easy tracking
  • Task management updates
  • Performance evaluation/Feedback forms as a function within TeamRelate
The actual platform of Dayforce is great however the support and Professional Services team is the real painpoint. The case management process is very time consuming and leads to a great deal of back and forth with client which does not lead to a strong sense of trust as they do not seem to know their product well.

Used in North American for Payroll and in Canada for Timekeeping.
  • Pays employees accurately, which is key given we operate in a union environment.
  • Pays employees timely since our leadership team reviews this as an SLA.
  • Customer support is responsive, especially when we are a legacy customer.
  • Ceridian team did an excellent job with us creating an ROI analysis to add greater functionality to the tool.
  • Interface seems stiff and not too dynamic and is quite non-intuitive to allow users to navigate.
  • Recruitment modules are weak and I decided to go elsewhere for this capability.
  • Ceridian tends to throw out new approaches like Paying employees daily, but I'm not sure how practical this is within mid-market organizations.
It is well suited for mid-sized companies as compared to systems like SuccessFactors. They don't have too many bells and whistles that can over-complicate organizations with limited resources. Also, because their system isn't integrated into a finance system, it is likewise easier to manage. I personally think that if they are going to market themselves as a Talent suite, that they invest in talent modules like succession planning and recruiting to enable organizations to be more successful.

It is being used across our whole organization. Addresses timekeeping and reporting problems.
  • Reporting is a strength
  • Employee Self-Service site is excellent
  • Timesheets - we are still working on getting the configuration correct from implementation
  • Duty Day taxation - difficult to handle with lived-in, worked-in taxation setup
  • Taxation of GTL needs to allow all taxes to be withheld
Well suited for simple payroll. Difficult to manipulate for a more complex payroll.

Our entire organization is using Dayforce, from payroll to frontline employees using the mobile app to managers approving time.
  • Processing payroll with Dayforce is very easy.
  • I like the fact that in timesheets you can see how an employee will be paid just with a simple click.
  • The system itself is very slow. There are days that I sit and wait for screens to load for 5 or 10 minutes.
It is a very flexible system and works well if you have it setup correctly.

Ceridian Dayforce is currently being used by my organization for HR, Payroll, Benefits, Learning and Performance Management. We are also working on implementing the Recruiting and Compensation modules in the very near future. It is being used across the whole organization via Manager and Employee Self-Service for pay rate changes, termination, new hires, tax forms, direct deposits, etc.
  • Integration between modules.
  • Reduction of paperwork.
  • Our FAVORITE payroll function is the earnings statement "flyout" which allows you to preview a pay check (gross to net) instantly!
  • When you implement a new module it is created in a test environment but then needs to be entirely re-created by Ceridian in the live environment, so that leaves room for errors.
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for companies that are looking to integrate all of the HCM modules into one, relatively easy to use, system.

We use Dayforce across our company. We liked that it was an integrated system. One employee, one record, one system. We are close to implementing Advanced Scheduling.
  • Timesheets to Payroll. Marvelous!
  • Payroll processing
  • HR record automatically feeds to Timesheets
  • Implementation is rough. Not enough real guidance is given. Set-up and testing are rushed. It seems as though it is just enough to get you up and running and then iron out all the issues later, at the expense of the customer.
  • It is a global world and the need for outsourcing is understood. It is, however, really difficult when trying to fix issues or set-up new things when support does not speak English well. Sometimes we just don't know if we are being understood and sometimes we can't understand what is being said.
  • Support needs to slow down. Sometimes they are so anxious to close a ticket they don't seem to be listening. The main goal can appear to be closing the ticket not solving the problem.
It is great working with an integrated system like Dayforce that seamlessly processes pay changes and retro.

We are using it across the entire organization as our HR system of record. My involvement primarily is with reporting, analytics and with the Compensation Module. We are also an early-user of the Learning Module and are transitioning our performance review process into Dayforce, as well. My organization had previously been using Ceridian for payroll and has had the full HCM active for just over one year now. It is showing significant efficiencies in HR in terms of manager self-service, record maintenance and overall tracking/interaction of the various HR processes.
  • Integration with payroll & benefits -- everything is tied together and can be reviewed comprehensively more easily.
  • Reporting flexibility -- allowing the user to customize reports even when it's only a one-time customization (as opposed to a permanent change to a report), the user can run and see the results of their query.
  • Exports to Excel -- an extremely valuable feature available from many key areas of the system; allows self-service users to view & work with their data in a spreadsheet environment that may be more familiar to them and also allow a look at "what if" outside of making changes in Dayforce.
  • Test environment is a must! A great tool to practice or test what-if scenarios.
  • Search boxes, position & employee names --- very specific and particular; sometimes a partial name does not lead to a successful search, even though the item is in the database.
  • Concatenated fields in the Compensation Module -- seems like the module, although very useful and valuable, was put together by developers only with no input from a Compensation expert; modules and updates should include subject matter experts to improve the user-interface for specific tasks or areas.
  • Org charts -- very useful tools, but cannot easily export them to a useful format.
Well suited to a smaller organization (<5,000?), depending on how extensively you want to make use of the system. Seems like it would be better suited to an organization with fewer sites/locations, as there is much set-up and behind the scenes maintenance to take full advantage of all the system's potential. It is very capable, it just requires more on the front-end/behind the scenes, so you need a very knowledgeable and engaged HRIT team. The potential may not be fully tapped by many clients, and it has even more future potential being expanded daily by the Ceridian development team!

It's being used at Canadian locations, but not US or internationally. Primarily used for payroll and HCM.
  • The Dayforce app is simple and the layout is very beginner friendly for general employees.
  • The system crashes multiple times a day for those with complex roles. It also freezes often.
  • The user interface is very outdated. Users have to switch between different roles (manager, recruiter, employee) to complete processes.
  • The different modules are isolated from each other. For example, if a manager with an open job requisitions takes a leave of absence there is no way to notify the recruiter within the system.
  • Forms can't be edited by the initiator. They have to be declined by the recipient. The initiator can then start over.
Multiple legal entities can be set up with different pay policies for each. Also, the organizational structure can be updated very quickly. Dayforce is American based, with American terminology, system labels and processes (FMLA, etc.), which is challenging for my Canadian company. The system uses American date standards and, depending on legacy systems and partner systems, it can cause alignment issues.

We made the switch from Ultimate Software to Ceridian Dayforce for our organization. We use Dayforce to process and maintain all our employee records, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and benefits management. We chose Dayforce because of its time and attendance - scheduling feature and because it is a single platform.
  • It is a single platform for all its modules
  • "Conversations" in performance management are user-friendly and provide a venue for real-time feedback
  • Scheduling and labor cost analysis is a nice feature
  • Report writing is a little challenging to create reports
  • Copy and pasting text when creating job postings doesn't always carry over formatting
  • I recommend a "Home Page" that allows for organizational announcements that can be shared to all or filtered employees (ie., birthdays, special events, company wide updates, etc)
For the traditional workplace, this system would work extremely well. Our industry has its challenges since we employ a majority of part-time staff that work in multiple locations, positions, and departments. However, Ceridian and our company have managed to adapt the software to meet our needs sufficiently and is still evolving.

Dayforce is being used across the organization for HR, payroll, benefits, time recording, recruiting, onboarding, and document management.
  • Time recording - Users are allowed to clock in/out through a mobile app which simplifies the time recording process for our mobile staff.
  • Workforce management - Through our implementation we established workflows that helped us streamline our internal processes.
  • On boarding - This feature allows our new employees to become acclimated to our organization prior to their first day on the job.
  • Scheduling mass number of employees - We schedule around 400 employees on a seasonal basis.
  • Because of the level of detail of this scheduling, it's a somewhat "clunky" process, but Ceridian is taking time to understand our needs and working with us to make the system better.
  • Recruiting - The recruiting module has been HUGE for us. Not only does it simplify the communication process for the applicant/recruiter, we are also able to send out offer letters and complete the background/I-9 process through their partnership with HireRight.
Fully integrated HR, payroll, time recording solution. Internal Ceridian team is committed to a strong partnership and problem solving.

Ceridian Dayforce is being used by our entire organization that encompasses 1200 employees in 18 locations over a 120 mile long service area. Dayforce allows us to house all of our HR and payroll processes to include recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, time, and performance within one application. Dayforce allows our organization to be virtually paperless.
  • Dayforce offers continuous pay calculations, with real-time data at any given point.
  • All Dayforce data is housed in one location, with simple workflows and no need for integrations.
  • Dayforce has a great mobile platform.
  • Currently, the Dayforce Compensation module only works with the primary job, and therefore doesn't yet meet our needs.
  • The recruiting module doesn't have a way to schedule interviews with candidates.
  • Incompatibility with Microsoft Silverlight.
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for a large company with many employees across centers and departments. We are an organization of 1200 employees, of which 90% are variable-hour, part time. Dayforce workforce management works well with staff in scheduling and shift trades. Time sheets are easily viewed and approved by supervisors, even on the mobile app.

We use Dayforce to process payroll and use WFM for time collection as well as simple scheduling. We liked that the product was all in one and we can view paychecks instantly as we go throughout the pay period. It is being used by the whole organization.
  • Easy Navigation and use of the WFM and payroll side
  • Dozens of reports for users, managers and admins
  • Plenty of Notifications
  • Mobile needs some improvements such as timesheet approval and better shift swapping capabilities
  • Better functionality around shift swaps
  • The whole validate and lock idea is a bit cumbersome
My favorite part of the whole tool is that it is all-In-one meaning that as payroll admins we can view employees' paychecks on any day of the pay period and do audits as we go to ensure an accurate payroll. Some of the steps within the process of calculating payroll seem redundant and could be easier but overall it is a smooth process.

It's being used for records management, benefits, and payroll (timekeeping, PTO, etc).
  • Time and Attendance
  • Payroll
  • Benefits
  • Reporting
  • Using Microsoft Silverlight for some things and not others
  • Workflow Management
I love the team relate module for relating to my direct reports. I do not like the difference between "MyHR" and "People".

We use Time and Attendance across the US and Canada. Approximately 6,800 users. We went live on 9/16/19.
  • Mobile app for Time works really well.
  • Vacation bank forecasting is a nice feature.
  • On the timesheet - confusing to authorize the timesheet and then have to remember to save. Seems like 2 steps that are not clear to users. Leave it at one step.
  • You should show the time away requested through a timesheet on the calendar view.
  • As mentioned above, the different options for entering time do not work well together. It seems like they're separate modules which don't update each other.
  • Timesheet view is a bit cumbersome.
Well suited for a blue collar work force, a little less so for a white collar / professional environment where our non-exempts need to enter time but don't necessarily work shifts and don't use a punch clock.

[It's being used for] Company-wide payroll, benefits and WFM. The corporate office oversees and processes the entire payroll process while each location manages time cards and compensation.
  • Integrating time and attendance with payroll
  • Communications about updates and issues
  • Payoll
  • Pricing, a little too much nickle and diming
  • Timelessness of issue corrections
  • Implementation of new ideas. AHA ideas sit forever.
It's great for basic payroll and WFM. It's harder for multiple locations with security levels in payroll.

Ceridian Dayforce is currently being used by our entire organization. Since implementation, we have seen a huge decrease in the amount of manual work and an increase in accuracy. Our employees love being able to update or submit forms and have their payment information at their fingertips with the mobile app.
  • Education.
  • Intuitive modules.
  • Regular Updates & improvements.
  • Reduce the time it takes for Support to complete a case.
Dayforce has allowed us to be more compliant and has taken away many manual processes we had in our previous system.
