We use Dayforce for payroll, timekeeping, and workforce management. With our current set-up, it helps to move us from a lot of manual processes to user-friendly electronic ones. We are constantly implementing new ways to use Dayforce to further automate the way we work.
  • Clocking in and out for our hourly employees is incredibly easy.
  • It is incredibly easy to create workflows to do exactly what you need, even if that means a form has to flow through four levels of approval.
  • The reporting on Dayforce is incredibly robust, even overwhelmingly so at times.
  • I regularly have to follow up days after I've submitted a ticket to get a response at all.
  • TAFW Displays- each screen displays a number that factors in different measures which are super confusing for employees.
  • Silverlight- While Dayforce is moving away from this, the Silverlight functionality is still a problem.
If the administrator is comfortably familiarizing themselves with their system by testing and using log in detailed pdf guides, this works well. There is a lot of documentation out on the knowledge base to help someone through it. However, if your administrator is someone who needs to be taught how to use a system by a person, they may struggle. Support is not robust for this platform.

Ceridian Dayforce is used throughout our entire company and the lifecycle of an employee. It has allowed more efficiencies throughout the organization by having all data from Recruiting to Off-boarding in one application.
  • Ceridian listens to its customers and implements many enhancements suggested by customers. They understand that the system must be configurable.
  • Good for many different organizations from large to small.
  • Ceridian is always improving on its Dayforce product from enhancements to new modules to encompass every aspect of human capital management.
  • The support team for Ceridian Dayforce could be improved (but this is the case for most HRIS vendors).
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for most companies because it is highly configurable for what each business might need in an HRIS system.

It is used for time and attendance and payroll across our entire company in the US and Canada. Our retail locations use advanced scheduling.
  • Keeping up with compliance issues (ie. scheduling ordinances).
  • The up-time is really good. We haven't had an outage in quite a while.
  • I see new enhancements every year.
  • We would have like to have seen more parity in the tools when they transitioned from Silverlight to HTML.
  • Helping their clients being prepared for upgrades.
  • Sometimes I don't think they understand how change management works for large organizations.
Overall I would recommend it for retail. Our stores like it much better than our previous scheduling system. They also help us stay up on the latest compliance changes.
As a retailer, we do not like that they expect us to take code updates in December. I understand that we need to take tax updates to support payroll year-end, but we should not be expected to take any bug fixes that we do not need.

Ceridian is used across our whole organization. It deals with scheduling, payroll, reporting, and recruiting.
  • Comprehensive- A plethora of resources to learn when using the system. Tons of functionalities.
  • Customizable to the needs of your organization.
  • Ceridian's customer service support portal is excellent whenever you have an issue configuring something on Dayforce. They walk you through the steps or tell you where to find the answers.
  • The reporting feature is difficult to use. Some times the fields you input aren't necessarily what you think they mean. You kind of have to do some trial and error to figure out what it's using on your system to generate information.
  • It would be nice that when we hover over certain fields it tells me where it is pulling that information from.
  • I love the recruiting module it helps me keep track of new hires and their pre-employment background checks with ease and doing their new hire orientation on the system saves to much time looking for lost files and paper! It would be great to show their pre-employment checks directly on their onboarding portal so that we don't have to send separate emails for employees to complete a background check.
It is difficult to use if you do not have the time to implement and learn the system. Dayforce is constantly updating the system and if you don't keep up you can set back your organization in the long run. You have to be willing to read and learn the material not be afraid to ask questions. Our organization had to hire someone to help us go live and implement certain things as well so something to keep in mind if you do not have the budget for that.

Dayforce is currently being used in our 40 corporate owned retail stores across 4 brands. We currently use both the scheduling, analytics and time and attendance modules. We implemented Dayforce to optimize scheduling and payroll costs for our 40 stores. Our goal is to reduce payroll by 5-7% across the department by the end of 2020.
  • User friendly People profile for each employee
  • Scheduling with traffic curve
  • Easy timesheet approval
  • Budget thresholds for easy tracking
  • Task management updates
  • Performance evaluation/Feedback forms as a function within TeamRelate
The actual platform of Dayforce is great however the support and Professional Services team is the real painpoint. The case management process is very time consuming and leads to a great deal of back and forth with client which does not lead to a strong sense of trust as they do not seem to know their product well.

Used in North American for Payroll and in Canada for Timekeeping.
  • Pays employees accurately, which is key given we operate in a union environment.
  • Pays employees timely since our leadership team reviews this as an SLA.
  • Customer support is responsive, especially when we are a legacy customer.
  • Ceridian team did an excellent job with us creating an ROI analysis to add greater functionality to the tool.
  • Interface seems stiff and not too dynamic and is quite non-intuitive to allow users to navigate.
  • Recruitment modules are weak and I decided to go elsewhere for this capability.
  • Ceridian tends to throw out new approaches like Paying employees daily, but I'm not sure how practical this is within mid-market organizations.
It is well suited for mid-sized companies as compared to systems like SuccessFactors. They don't have too many bells and whistles that can over-complicate organizations with limited resources. Also, because their system isn't integrated into a finance system, it is likewise easier to manage. I personally think that if they are going to market themselves as a Talent suite, that they invest in talent modules like succession planning and recruiting to enable organizations to be more successful.

in our company, we use Ceridian Dayforce from pre-hire to paying employees. Throughout our whole company, every employee uses Dayforce for their everyday needs and our managers use it to keep track of employees' time.
  • Time off request - We used to do this on paper and now it is all online.
  • Direct deposit changes- It is very easy for employees to go in and make their own needed changes.
  • Entitlements- We have still have an issue getting time to show up correctly for new hires.
  • Customer support - Have noticed that with the support portal, it can take a while for us to get a reply to support question. It always comes back that it is a special project and that Ceridian wants us to spend more money on it via Professional Services.
Day to day, Ceridian is very good but there are times when it could be better.

Ceridian is being used mainly by our HR and Payroll departments but it is used companywide. It provides us with a single database for employee files, is a tool for processing payroll, managing benefits, and processing employee changes.
  • Tax Reporting - Ceridian manages most of our tax calculations and reporting while providing frequent updates of new tax laws.
  • Workforce Management - Ceridian has a plethora of methods for handling scheduling, time tracking, and time reporting.
  • Recruiting - Ceridian is focusing very heavily on their recruiting module which provides most of the functionalities of a best in class system while having the benefit of being a single HCM platform.
  • Service support - Many times it takes up to a week to have a service request responded to. Many times you have to frequently follow up with the service rep to get a request completed.
  • Performance - Performance is only done one way and it is not very flexible.
  • Forms - Most forms are in XML and the ones that are not cannot be adjusted. Ceridian also limits the data you can access in forms.
It is great as a single platform HCM. It would not be the best if a company wanted to implement best in class systems.

Dayforce is our main HCM system. We use it company wide for HR, payroll, timesheets, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, compensation management.
  • The Compensation Management module is a nice feature. It saved us a lot of time this year processing our merit increases. Managers could make their recommendations and the roll-up to higher-level management worked great.
  • The BLS reporting saves me a lot of time. Prior to Dayforce, I did a lot of manual calculations, now I just have to run a report.
  • Onboarding is nice. New employees can complete their paperwork and be ready to work on their first day. All the data goes directly into the system and doesn't need to be keyed in by payroll.
  • Timesheets do not subtract unpaid meals and breaks from the total hours. This makes our employees extremely frustrated when they can't even see their hours for the week. Without doing manual calculations on their own, they don't even know their hours. Imagine an innovative time system, that doesn't even provide a total of paid hours. Imagine being an hourly employee with that type of system. The timesheets are very confusing and not user-friendly at all! Our employees really dislike Dayforce!
  • We use time collection periods. Dayforce seems to shy away from that form of payment. Implementation all but forced us to change our payroll process. We found a workaround, but it doesn't work well. We can't lock paid time periods correctly because of the way the time crosses periods. So we have paid time within the timesheets remaining unlocked. That just opens up a chance for issues. Once again, Dayforce really missed the mark on this one. This is a basic function of a time/payroll system. In addition, the way the system pays the employees for overlapping dates in the timesheets compared to the time collection period does not work well. We had a pay run where some employees were paid incorrectly due to this.
  • Accruals show up twice in the list of entitlements with no rhyme or reason why. Administrators have to recalculate each employee's accruals when this is found, which is often. The entitlement list is very awkward and cumbersome. Also, the way the time displays to the employees is confusing and they have trouble even understanding how much time they have left to take.
  • Payout of unused accruals to a salaried employee is very tedious. You have to fight the system and work backwards to pay the employee correctly. The system enters negative hours to keep them at the scheduled number of hours; therefore, payroll has to data enter a positive number of hours to offset what the system is doing.
  • The auto-population of taxes and the Dayforce tax engine creates large messes. The system will automatically change an employee's tax withholding when there is an address change, a department change, or job change. There is no report to tell the administrator that the system did this. Therefore, every single change requires an audit of the individual's tax set-up to determine if the system changed their taxes. The auto-population is not correct and we have had instances of the system just stopping withholding, taxing an individual for two different states, determining a location is in another state even though we have the proper address entered. This function misses the mark entirely! The old Ceridian HPW was way easier to use.
  • The reports for auditing payroll are awful. The employee changes report for auditing during payroll processing is pages and pages of irrelevant information and multiple lines for one employee change. It's hard to read because the report lists inserted records for every single line on a screen. On the other side, the report does not give you changes that you need to know, like tax withholding changes that the system automatically changed.
  • The cost of services is way too much. We need a simple export with 4 fields of data, but the cost to have the export built is too much for our company.
  • We need an export of a report we have built in the system, but after many time consuming meetings it was determined that the system cannot do the export. For such an innovative system, we can't understand why it cannot export our data.
Our employees do not like Dayforce compared to Ceridian's old product TimePro. They have a harder time determining their unused accruals and the timesheets don't even subtract unpaid meals and breaks. An hourly employee cannot see how many hours they have worked without doing manual calculations on their own.

We have been using Dayforce for our HR and Payroll functions across the organization. It helps us streamlining our Time & Attendance process (i.e. manager can approve timesheet via mobile, etc.). However, we would like to have more functions can be done via mobile app to support staff spending most of their time off-site.
  • Cloud-based application. It supports staff work virtually.
  • It is a HR and Payroll system. It also means less 1 user name & password for user to remember.
  • Dayforce has been gone through a bunch of enhancements (compensation module, analytics, etc.).
  • We wish Dayforce would pay more attention to the need of government/not-for-profit sectors. For example, salary increase (in compensation module) can be managed/approved by compensation admin, instead of the hiring managers. We follow union agreements/policies.
  • In the People menu, please have the Employee preferred name available in the search box.
  • Please make some of the system admin settings available in HTML platform (currently only in SilverLight).
Dayforce is a great system for HR and Payroll. It integrates employee records between HR (benefit, wellness, etc.) with Payroll (time and attendance, my pay, etc.). Both HR Admin and Payroll Admin can verify and update employee record accordingly.
Dashboard/Analytics is not a great strength of Ceridian Dayforce system. It currently only supports certain for-profit sectors, not other businesses (every organization's need for KPI's is different).

It is being used across our whole organization. Addresses timekeeping and reporting problems.
  • Reporting is a strength
  • Employee Self-Service site is excellent
  • Timesheets - we are still working on getting the configuration correct from implementation
  • Duty Day taxation - difficult to handle with lived-in, worked-in taxation setup
  • Taxation of GTL needs to allow all taxes to be withheld
Well suited for simple payroll. Difficult to manipulate for a more complex payroll.

We use Dayforce across our entire continuum. We have multiple divisions and locations. We use payroll, performance, time/attendance, time away from work and benefits.
  • It is really great to have the information go from an application or form to all applicable locations. No duplicate entries which allows for one source of truth.
  • The file feeds are very helpful and a real time saver.
  • It is really nice to have reporting that can cross over all information in the system.
  • I'd like to see fewer issues go to Professional Services. It feels like we are nickeled and dimed all the time. This is my biggest frustration.
  • The performance module is a little tricky to use and it's hard to track where things are at.
  • The scheduling module could be more user friendly. We would like location of assignment to be included in a rotations.
Dayforce is for larger companies that want a sophisticated system.

HR uses Dayforce for payroll processing. Employees use the mobile app to clock in. Managers use it to interact with employee info, approve payroll, performance and track time away from work.
  • Support team assigned to us are very knowledgeable of the program and offer great assistance.
  • Dayforce Education is another great tool even to take refresher courses of modules currently using.
  • WFM for clocking in on mobile app or computer and keeping track of our time away from work is a breeze.
  • Year-end suggestions in advance are great reminders. The hotfix notes are ideal if you read them.
  • Handling our PTO grant and accruals has been good.
  • Mobile app should allow managers to approve payroll.
  • Recruiting should put candidate offer letter in the employee file.
  • In the recruiting module, we would like to add a logo that is on the job description to the Indeed feed.
  • Pay Grades need to be made available to the employee profile.

Implementation is the first impression a business has of Ceridian and because that is not a smooth transaction, Ceridian loses some creditability. Ceridian needs to be aware of the time zone and tax differentials. Once it goes to the assigned support pod it goes much smoother.

When something is promised the follow through is important, such as eliminating the Silver script deadline changing numerous times.

Project HOME uses Ceridian Dayforce across the organization.
  • Work Force Management - simplifies tracking time worked for employees
  • Recruiting - allows transparency through the hiring process
  • Payroll - engages human resource professionals, managers and payroll specialists to insure accuracy of each run
  • More seamless interaction between talent module and annual merit increase
  • Enable more employee access to knowledge base component
  • Streamline location/job description/position entries across various screens
My experience is that it is well suited to a business involved with employees having a wide range of educational backgrounds [G.E.D. to PhD]. Interactions at the annual convention support the impression that Dayforce is customizable to almost any environment.

We use Ceridian Dayforce company wide. We are using it for our Benefits enrollment, Payroll, Time Keeping, Recruiting and Onboarding.
  • Calculates payroll making it easy to verify the accuracy of the pay run
  • Ease with Onboarding
  • Benefits enrollment
  • Making changes to the environment is difficult and does not work
  • Benefits feeds must be updated by paying for Support Services, we cannot update it on our own. We are currently growing and adding new locations and we do not have the ability to add these new locations to our data feeds
After speaking to a lot of customers at Insights Conference, one thing is very obvious. No one has a successful implementation. Everyone had an awful time with some terrible problems, like pulling back the entire pay run, 100% of the W-2C's were required, etc.

Our entire organization is using Dayforce, from payroll to frontline employees using the mobile app to managers approving time.
  • Processing payroll with Dayforce is very easy.
  • I like the fact that in timesheets you can see how an employee will be paid just with a simple click.
  • The system itself is very slow. There are days that I sit and wait for screens to load for 5 or 10 minutes.
It is a very flexible system and works well if you have it setup correctly.

It is being used across the whole organization. The business problems that it addresses are:
  • Time and attendance
  • Payroll
  • HCM
  • User-friendly
  • Organized Data
  • Trustworthy information
  • Reporting out of Dayforce could be simpler
  • We run a points attendance system for our hourly associates. If there was a capability were Dayforce can automatically create infraction letters and send them to associates that would take a manual task out of my job
Compared to other HRIS, Ceridian Dayforce is simple to maneuver around.

Dayforce is currently used by the HR and Payroll functions. It addressed time and attendance, payroll, benefits, workforce management and eliminates some manual processes. It is utilized in both the US and Canada. Our current configuration still has the need to process items manually, however, this will be addressed in 2020.
  • Time and attendance - set-up and flexability
  • Entitlements - flexibility
  • Payroll - uploads and general process
  • Benefits Management - OE, new hire and life events
  • Payroll - Retro Increases
  • Benefits Management - configuration and set-up
  • PPACA - complicated set-up
Well suited for retail establishments and the hourly workforce. The ability to schedule and plan based on traffic etc. is a powerful tool. The app is also very useful. I am looking forward to a possible implementation of the compensation module and onboarding.

The only scenario that has been less appropriate is processing retro increases and having to utilize support in order to complete.

We use Dayforce across all departments for time, benefits, personnel, and employee document management.
  • Customizable
  • Easy to correct payroll issues
  • Employee Friendly
  • Performance Reviews
  • Streamline for manager use
It is easy to track down and resolve issues with Dayforce. Because clients have such open access to the system that is being used, we are able to dive into problems and not have to rely on support teams with Dayforce to fix problems for us. However, certain pages and features are unnecessarily clunky - performance reviews are particularly hard for our managers to navigate.

Ceridian Dayforce is currently being used by my organization for HR, Payroll, Benefits, Learning and Performance Management. We are also working on implementing the Recruiting and Compensation modules in the very near future. It is being used across the whole organization via Manager and Employee Self-Service for pay rate changes, termination, new hires, tax forms, direct deposits, etc.
  • Integration between modules.
  • Reduction of paperwork.
  • Our FAVORITE payroll function is the earnings statement "flyout" which allows you to preview a pay check (gross to net) instantly!
  • When you implement a new module it is created in a test environment but then needs to be entirely re-created by Ceridian in the live environment, so that leaves room for errors.
Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for companies that are looking to integrate all of the HCM modules into one, relatively easy to use, system.

We use Dayforce across our company. We liked that it was an integrated system. One employee, one record, one system. We are close to implementing Advanced Scheduling.
  • Timesheets to Payroll. Marvelous!
  • Payroll processing
  • HR record automatically feeds to Timesheets
  • Implementation is rough. Not enough real guidance is given. Set-up and testing are rushed. It seems as though it is just enough to get you up and running and then iron out all the issues later, at the expense of the customer.
  • It is a global world and the need for outsourcing is understood. It is, however, really difficult when trying to fix issues or set-up new things when support does not speak English well. Sometimes we just don't know if we are being understood and sometimes we can't understand what is being said.
  • Support needs to slow down. Sometimes they are so anxious to close a ticket they don't seem to be listening. The main goal can appear to be closing the ticket not solving the problem.
It is great working with an integrated system like Dayforce that seamlessly processes pay changes and retro.

We are using it across the entire organization as our HR system of record. My involvement primarily is with reporting, analytics and with the Compensation Module. We are also an early-user of the Learning Module and are transitioning our performance review process into Dayforce, as well. My organization had previously been using Ceridian for payroll and has had the full HCM active for just over one year now. It is showing significant efficiencies in HR in terms of manager self-service, record maintenance and overall tracking/interaction of the various HR processes.
  • Integration with payroll & benefits -- everything is tied together and can be reviewed comprehensively more easily.
  • Reporting flexibility -- allowing the user to customize reports even when it's only a one-time customization (as opposed to a permanent change to a report), the user can run and see the results of their query.
  • Exports to Excel -- an extremely valuable feature available from many key areas of the system; allows self-service users to view & work with their data in a spreadsheet environment that may be more familiar to them and also allow a look at "what if" outside of making changes in Dayforce.
  • Test environment is a must! A great tool to practice or test what-if scenarios.
  • Search boxes, position & employee names --- very specific and particular; sometimes a partial name does not lead to a successful search, even though the item is in the database.
  • Concatenated fields in the Compensation Module -- seems like the module, although very useful and valuable, was put together by developers only with no input from a Compensation expert; modules and updates should include subject matter experts to improve the user-interface for specific tasks or areas.
  • Org charts -- very useful tools, but cannot easily export them to a useful format.
Well suited to a smaller organization (<5,000?), depending on how extensively you want to make use of the system. Seems like it would be better suited to an organization with fewer sites/locations, as there is much set-up and behind the scenes maintenance to take full advantage of all the system's potential. It is very capable, it just requires more on the front-end/behind the scenes, so you need a very knowledgeable and engaged HRIT team. The potential may not be fully tapped by many clients, and it has even more future potential being expanded daily by the Ceridian development team!

It's being used at Canadian locations, but not US or internationally. Primarily used for payroll and HCM.
  • The Dayforce app is simple and the layout is very beginner friendly for general employees.
  • The system crashes multiple times a day for those with complex roles. It also freezes often.
  • The user interface is very outdated. Users have to switch between different roles (manager, recruiter, employee) to complete processes.
  • The different modules are isolated from each other. For example, if a manager with an open job requisitions takes a leave of absence there is no way to notify the recruiter within the system.
  • Forms can't be edited by the initiator. They have to be declined by the recipient. The initiator can then start over.
Multiple legal entities can be set up with different pay policies for each. Also, the organizational structure can be updated very quickly. Dayforce is American based, with American terminology, system labels and processes (FMLA, etc.), which is challenging for my Canadian company. The system uses American date standards and, depending on legacy systems and partner systems, it can cause alignment issues.

We made the switch from Ultimate Software to Ceridian Dayforce for our organization. We use Dayforce to process and maintain all our employee records, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and benefits management. We chose Dayforce because of its time and attendance - scheduling feature and because it is a single platform.
  • It is a single platform for all its modules
  • "Conversations" in performance management are user-friendly and provide a venue for real-time feedback
  • Scheduling and labor cost analysis is a nice feature
  • Report writing is a little challenging to create reports
  • Copy and pasting text when creating job postings doesn't always carry over formatting
  • I recommend a "Home Page" that allows for organizational announcements that can be shared to all or filtered employees (ie., birthdays, special events, company wide updates, etc)
For the traditional workplace, this system would work extremely well. Our industry has its challenges since we employ a majority of part-time staff that work in multiple locations, positions, and departments. However, Ceridian and our company have managed to adapt the software to meet our needs sufficiently and is still evolving.

We started implementation in February, 2019 and first used Payroll and Benefits in July and will also be using Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, Compensation, Dashboards and learning Management. We had a patchwork of systems we were using for all those things and this will combine most everything for us making us all more efficient.
  • Benefits and Payroll Integration - changes happen in real time.
  • Workflows - still working on creating some but we created some so that when employees make changes, we are notified and that's great so nothing goes unnoticed.
  • Site is easy for employees to navigate and has a 'clean' presentation.
  • Recruiting - seems like it could use some enhancements based on feedback from our recruiters. It doesn't have the same functionality as our stand alone system did but hopefully there are some updates coming to fix some gaps.
  • Compensation - seems a little clunky but could be just because we haven't used for a cycle yet.
  • Implementation - seems like some time spent up front understanding our organization set-up and needs could have saved some time and angst in the long run.
We are still in implementation but we have the idea and vision that Dayforce will work well for us overall. We know that any system is going to have some limitations and may require some adjustments to current processes on our part but we are happy with the aesthetics of the software and our employees are finding it easy to use as well. I have a family member also in HR and she has used Dayforce at a prior employer and had a very positive experience with the software as well.
