We use Dayforce for Time & Attendance, Payroll Processing, Benefits and HR. It combined multiple systems to one so we eliminated double entry. Also, increase access for employees.
  • Allows payroll to view checks prior to pay period ending
  • Allow payroll to view preliminary totals
  • Comparing Schedule to Timesheets and flagging discrepancies
  • Implementation can be a little smoother. It's hard to answer all the preliminary questions on setup when we don't understand all the capabilities of the product or have never used the product.
  • Some of the support staff are very hard to understand.
Report writing is not as complicated as other systems.
Payroll totals breakdown to employees & export feature are great.

Ceridian Dayforce Payroll and WFM is being used across our entire US population. We are implementing all talent modules over the next 6-9 months.
  • Configurable
  • Flexible
  • User-Friendly
  • State-Mandated form integration into the Onboarding Module (NY, CA, DC)
  • More robust Recruitment Module
  • Feeds with Background/I-9 Vendors to allow you to selected the vendor of your choice, not just those that are integrated with Ceridian. Currently with EBI, and we have to initiate background screenings by flipping a status and the status of the backgrounds are housed outside the system.
Dayforce is customizable, but relies heavily on configuration. As an administrator, I like that I can change settings without having to get support involved, like other HRIS/HRM solutions I've used in the past. However, if you are a small organization and do not have a Sr. Manager or above HR/Payroll team, this may be a bit daunting. There is not employment law built in as a baseline; for example: we had to specify what meal/rest break policies were, we had to specify what the rounding rules were and we had to specify what the spread of hours/recall/on call pay looked like for all states we were in business in. As a client, it would be super helpful to start at a point of compliance, and allow customers to configure it further from there, if they are more generous than the state requirements. State Forms are also not built into the onboarding module. I have wage forms that need completed for CA, NY and DC; the only way I can automate these is through docusign and even that is cumbersome. It's unfortunate.

We use this across the whole organization. It controls time and attendance, payroll, benefits, performance reviews, onboarding paperwork, and i9 details. It's the best solution for a paperless work environment. It allows an employee's complete history record to be visible without pulling a file. It removes the time for filing documents and having to manually retrieve them.
  • Form data: it allows you to use system or custom made forms. Helps allow managers at store level submit paperless request.
  • Workflows: tied to a form, each workflow is custom with routing and notifications or conditions to ensure that what is submitted routes properly.
  • Onboarding: allows for quick visibility to where progress is and who has completed.
  • Forms to be mobile friendly
  • Guided processes that can be edited after being published.
  • Performance management to allow edits within qualifiers after posted.
The solution to better process and on-time viability to employee data is great in this system. Could it have some areas improved, yes! And they are always updating to improve processes. Coming from where all data was entered manually to using Dayforce now. So much time saved and fewer data errors.

Global time and attendance, and Candian/US payroll
  • User Interface: modern look
  • Reporting: mostly front end, easy for users
  • Reporting is slow, needs more reporting on configuration changes/audits.
  • Browser errors are annoying, no description of what the error means.
  • Need admin capability from the mobile app.
Dayforce is a good tool for time and attendance and an overall solution when you are using for HCM. When you are interfacing from another system it is not as flexible for data mapping as that functionality is limited to certain fields only which is disappointing. For Dayforce to be a global solution there needs to be more flexibility from an integration perspective.

Ceridian Dayforce is well suited for a large number of employees for corporate areas such as Fleetcor along with contract companies. It helps a system stay organized with various types of positions, locations of employees, and work structures. The ability to streamline payroll and also to have multiple pay groups.

Dayforce is used by the entire organization. The organization is broken into three entities. I manage the 1099 entity. While it did not address any problems for my entity it did for the other two entities. Dayforce saved our company money by being able to handle benefits and all other payroll processing under one umbrella.
  • Allows the flexibility to bill each of our entities separately.
  • Allow our W2 entities to handle benefits and payroll processing through one vendor.
  • Dayforce simplified the 1099 processing for us.
  • The transferring of employees between the three entities has caused us a lot of problems. This area needs a lot of improvement.
  • The use of FEIN versus SSN needs to be more user-friendly.
  • We have to make sure a special script is run every time there is a new release so we can continue processing our 1099s because the code is not part of the product. This keeps us on edge and concerned that we may not be able to pay our 1099 independent contractors based on our contract.
Dayforce is well suited for companies that process W2s and simple commission processing.

We use it as our HRIS and Payroll platform. The entire company uses it for payroll and managing leaves, and PTO. In my opinion, we are not leveraging a lot of the system despite selection 4 years ago. We are still trying to maximize usage and work smarter.
  • Support
  • Development
  • Communication
  • It takes time for us to match up with the right analyst to help us close tickets.
  • I think new users should be auto-scheduled for training.
  • I think xoxo and the actual platform should be merged into a single sign-on system.
From a payroll perspective, it is easy to commit payroll. However, reporting could be easier and usage below the HR level could be less intimidating.

It is used by the whole organization. HR has a lot of difficulties with benefits, just the set-up alone is not working correctly. I am having difficulty with reporting and even customers can’t do the report based on what accounting wanted it to be. Employees have difficulty with the entitlement policy that we currently have.
  • Payroll audit
  • Respond more on payroll issues
  • Self-service for benefits
Suited for big companies.

We use it across the whole organization and use it for WFM, Payroll, Benefits, and Recruitment.
  • Payroll, instant calculations
  • Automated workflows
  • Customized reports
  • Cost of additional modules
Payroll is the best system and a powerful tool. It allows us to manage all of our sites and to have everyone on electronic timesheets. The drawbacks include the recruitment module. It does not have a lot of the standard features found in competitive ATS systems.

I used Ceridian HPW about 10 years ago and really liked that product. I was glad to hear that my company had transitioned to Dayforce. We currently use Dayforce for payroll, benefits, & onboarding. Since I’m still fairly new to both, I’m not sure what plans the company has to utilize more Dayforce functionality to streamline processes within the company. I have always been a fan of having one system that can work across all areas within any company.
  • Training! I really liked the training available for new users to learn how the system works in Ceridian education.
  • Support availability: it’s great to know we can pick up the phone for support in case we need quick assistance.
  • Friendly! I worked with someone on the ticket and they asked me to stop by at Insights to say hi! Additionally, the President of Ceridian, Leagh, walked by me and I said hello. She stopped and chatted with me for a bit and I gave her some suggestions for the next Insights, she seemed genuinely interested and I never felt she was in a hurry to move on. Even the CEO, David Ossis at the general session gave out his email address. Who does that? I was very impressed!
  • I think Insights should definitely have a FIT session for Benefits next year. Being new to Dayforce, it would really have been advantageous for me, as I felt the reporting was.
  • Benefits module definitely needs an audit tab (who made changes and what changes were made, not just a history of when the change was made under history) and notes on the elections page. Having to run a report to see who made a previous change is frustrating.
  • When registering for Insights sessions, make notes that certain sessions don’t need to be taken if you are attending FIT. For example, I registered for some of the reporting lab sessions thinking it was going to allow me to practice and ask questions or for help, only to find out I didn’t need to take them if I had done FIT. Finding this out during Insights made it difficult for me to register for other sessions and miss out on making appointments at CSZ.
I’m still learning what is or isn’t working for us using Dayforce. I’ll have more insight at Insights next year!

Onboarding. Having all employee info in one spot that can be shared with manages & supervisors with restrictions, if needed. Having workflow between employees, manager, HR & GM helps keep communication flowing and everyone on the same page. Less paper shuffle helps to ensure things don't get lost or missed.

Why Dayforce Rocks!!!

Ceridian Dayforce is used throughout our entire company. In human resources, we use it for talent management, payroll, and benefits. Our managers use it to schedule employees, vacations, timesheets, and employee management. Dayforce is an essential part of our day to day business operations. Without Dayforce, we would have so much paper, be paying way to much for recruiting, and have to put in a lot more man-hours for filing and compliance. I Love Dayforce!
  • Talent management. The recruiting module is amazing. I can track the applicant throughout the whole interview and hiring process. It makes it so easy and fast to recruit and manage our talent pool.
  • Onboarding forms are perfect. We used to have the employees sign 40 pieces of paper on policies, now they sign everything electronically! It is so fast and easy to understand.
  • The "my people" function in Ceridian is so user-friendly and pretty error-free. It will stop you and flag an error if something is not correct.
  • I just learned about the electronic reviews here at insights. Absolutely amazing. We were looking for something to streamline our tedious review and compensation changes process.
  • Timesheets are a great feature. Easy to add vacations and PTO and modify time if need be for an employee.
  • Vacations!!! We were recently bought by another company and we can't seem to get the vacations in line. They keep resetting back to the old system.
  • I would like the opportunity to do background checks through the recruiting module of Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Benefits administration. I would like to see benefits be able to apply through Dayforce. Maybe during orientation we could add the forms.
I absolutely love the recruiting and onboarding modules. I love how you hire them from the recruiting module. I just learned at insights how we can send offer letters through the module as well. I learned about the talent pool as well in insights which gave me a lot more tips than I currently knew. Being able to hire an employee and track the entire application process in Dayforce is simply the best!

I am currently using Ceridian for our employees to make their benefit elections as a new hire and for open enrollment.
  • Makes enrollment easier for employees.
  • Makes the benefits department's job easier by sending file feeds.
  • The ability to use the system to track our employees that are on leave.
  • Age 26 dependent: the system needs to be able to automatically enroll the employee and any other family members down the next tier of coverage if applicable instead of terming the employee's coverage.
  • Better benefit confirmation statements that can be configured for benefit and compensation.
  • Better benefit reporting for invoice reconciliation.
Well suited for benefit elections and sending to payroll. Not so well suited for the age 26 dependent process for the remainder of the family.

Dayforce is being used organization-wide as the HRIS. It resolved a lot of administration as pre-Dayforce the organization operated solely on spreadsheets.
  • Performance: the setup and the forms are user-friendly.
  • Payroll: I act as the backup for payroll processing and the training needed was minimal.
  • SOX compliance: we have not implemented manager & employee self-service, however, knowing that approvals are tracked within the system will be hugely beneficial.
  • Balances, entitlements, and TAFW: it’s was not implemented well and remains very buggy.
  • XML forms: Ceridian should look into a WYSIWYG feature for designing forms (e.g. drag-and-drop fields onto a form template).
  • Roles and security: access to locations should be based on roles not based on individuals.
  • Work assignments: this feature leaves a lot of room for error (e.g. previous assignments should be end-dated automatically).
It seems that Dayforce is tailored to retail environments or other environments that rely heavily on shifts and KPIs.

We are using payroll, benefits, HR, implementing on-boarding and want to implement recruiting. The entire organization is using the product. We are trying to integrate all personnel-related functions.
  • I struggle to come up with even one thing that I think Dayforce does particularly well. I have more issues than I have praise for the product.
  • The sales presenters sold us a "bill of goods" which have not been delivered upon. We would told that Dayforce could be configured to work in our environment. The reality is there are far too many limitations to what we want the product to do.
  • Implementation was very painful and challenging process. During our implementation period Ceridian changed project managers twice. We had three different project managers during our implementation. This made implementation disjointed.
  • Even now after being out of implementation for nearly a year we have trouble with customer support and with product support. PS personnel can spend many hours working on a change item or configuration issue only to not have the effort pay off with a working fix. We would have spent thousands of dollars on PS only to have to get someone other than the originally assigned consultant to work on the matter to fix it.
The benefits module finally seems to work well enough. Not amazingly so, but adequately. The recruiting module is not effective or useful for an organization with multiple FEINs under a parent holding company. We can't communicate with candidates as separate operating companies.
