Ceridian has a dedicated compliance portal that offers standard compliance certificates as requested by external auditors (e.g., SOC letters and bridge letters). Standard reporting also offers some base reports required for external reporting. For the rest, we need to work with their support team and get custom reports either developed for us or run for us based on data not available to be reported on.

For setting up rules, there ought to be more support open to show you. I feel often Ceridian Dayforce requires you to open VAS tickets, however I often state I would like to learn or see a step I am missing so we can do it ourselves. I understand its a business and they want to do VAS projects for dollar, however they often do not have enough employees available for the projects, so projects go on hold.

it allows us to automate tax withholding, OT calculations such as blended OT and double time calculations. We also are able to automate garnishment withholdings allowing us to stay compliant with garnishment orders. We are also able to pull necessary reports for several government agencies allowing us to report accurate info and data.

Our automated rules was MOST beneficial regarding OnCall events. OnCall events occur during a 'designated' time each day. Events occurring during those times are recorded and paid differently. After we embedded the rule in the PayCode and developed a workflow, this event reduced 'hands-on' from 4 employees to 1 with much success.

Elimination of duplicate effort and manual processes related to employee record changes for retail team members. Any changes to Team Members, i.e., status/rate/work assignment/transfer, are completed by Leaders via online form and go through workflow approval. Labor standards are built into our setup from implementation through Punch Policy/ Pay Policy and Schedule setup. Any provincial/federal legislation rulings are generally updated by Ceridian.

I'm not in the HR department, but I can tell that Ceridian Dayforce helps my company keep track of everyone's payroll and benefit hours in an orderly, timely fashion. Other than that, I don't know what other benefits Ceridian Dayforce has for my company because I'm not in management.

New-ish to Dayforce

Dayforce offers automated tax compliance based on employee home and work addresses. The jurisdictions are automatically applied and withholding is automatic and guaranteed to be in compliance. This was a headache we had with a previous system, especially where reciprocal agreements come into play. The only issue we've run into is with Pennsylvania local withholding - Dayforce does not allow for courtesy withholding of local jurisdictions. Our employees are used to seeing both their local worked-in and lived-in taxes withheld, but Dayforce only withholds the worked-in jurisdiction's taxes. They are in compliance with PA Act 32 but this has been a minor pain point with our employees.
