I process the bi-monthly payroll for the school. We have under 20 employees. This payroll system is easy to use and if you have an issue your call is answered quickly. The support staff are so efficient and pleasant to deal with. Better still, I do not have to address issues like ROE's, T4's or monthly tax payments. Powerpay takes care of all of this. I just LOVE this system!
  • Processing monthly payroll with a verification before submission of the payroll.
  • Records of Employment when an employee leaves.
  • T4's records of annual earnings
  • Payment of monthly taxes to the government
  • Help when you need tax questions answered
  • I love Powerpay the way it is! Please don't mess with what isn't broken!
With Powerpay you are not 'wondering' if your input will have the desired effect on an employee's pay cheque. You can actually see what the employee will be paid, what their tax burden is for the month! Not many payroll companies offer this feature. It's terrific to process payroll and know that the employee will receive the correct remuneration. No 'retro payments' to keep track of!

  • I have not experienced any negative impact with Powerpay - it's all been positive. (our previous payroll processing company was an expensive nightmare where payroll took me a day (twice a month) to do for less than 20 employees!) Powerpay takes me less than one hour twice a month!
  • Powerpay's fees are also more than 50% cheaper than the previous payroll firm's fees!
I selected Powerpay (Ceridian at it was then) for the ease of use. I like that I have the choice of phoning my payroll in or doing it online myself. I used Ceridian a long time ago when I worked part time for a law firm. The Powerpay system is easy to use, it is logical and you can learn how to navigate the online Powerpay site quickly - and their is help at hand when you get stuck! Because it is easy and quick, your efficiency rating goes up as you have more time to get daily business done. You never sit on hold for hours when phoning and you interact with efficient, friendly people! I love this system!

I handle the entire payroll function for a bi-monthly payroll system. I am also responsible for Records of Employment and annual T4 statements of earnings for each employee. We have different contracts for the employees with the majority working 10 months of the year and others 12 months of the year. Powerpay handles all these situations beautifully!
We do not have internal tech support.
  • Bi-Monthly payroll
  • Tax remittances made to the government on time
  • Direct deposits to employee bank accounts
  • Annual T4 employee earnings income tax slips
  • I process normal bi-monthly payroll - very seldom have unexpected issues
  • We Powerpay to process payroll only
Powerpay exceeds my expectations: it's easy to use and does not 'eat' my time by wondering what the end result will be. I can see what each employee's pay statement will look like before I submit the payroll for processing. Monthly processing fees are not exorbitant and the service from support it top notch, quick and awesome when you need it! What's not to like? It's a terrific company to have on your side!
Yes
We no longer use a previous payroll company (their services were expensive and cumbersome and you sat on the phone for half the day to get hold of them) and we also no longer do payroll in-house on Quickbooks.
  • Ease of Use
Power pay is easy to use and quick. Terrific support when you need them and they answer the phone quickly!
I would not change a thing! Powerpay is perfect as it is (& I hope nothing change!)
I initiated the implementation. I answered all the questions I was asked, prepared the documentation and sent it off and it was done! Quickly, efficiently and done well!
  • Third-party professional services
Ceridian's Implementation Team in Mauritius did all the ground work - brilliantly!
No
Change management was minimal
The initial documentation that you send off needs to be accurate to the last full stop! As with all new systems it will only ever be as good as your documentation.
  • Implementation was done in the middle of a Government Tax cycle and also two months into our annual tax year.
  • Online Training
  • No Training
I have used Powerpay before (at a previous employer) but a few years had elapsed. I had a quick online training session (less that 30 minutes) to recover basic knowledge and I was away. I still from time to time have to do something that i am not quite sure of and pick up the phone! Every one that works at Ceridian - now Dayforce - have been able to answer my question and tell me where to go in the program, click on what and do what I need to do. The support is out-of-this-world good!
If you have completed payroll before and know what a payroll should do, Dayforce Powerpay should be easy to pick up on your own. I would suggest you take some time to familiarize yourself with the location of the various functions and what you will need to use when doing your payroll. Not all payrolls are the same. It may also be useful to yourself to take 30 minutes and speak to a professional at Dayforce Powerpay, who will be happy to assist you in this familiarization process. In the end you will thank yourself!
Our configuration is pretty simple. We have a few departments and all I had to do was to prepare spreadsheets with year-to-date salaries, the required personal information and departments. The set up came back about 7 working days later, ready for use. I understand that the set-up can be as simple or as complicated as you wish. Payroll is pretty basic and should never be so complicated that a professional company such as Dayforce could not set it up! I personally think the world of this firm - they have never let me down!
Your input is the key to success. The better the information Dayforce receives, the better your set-up will be. You need to ensure your data is flawless and problem free in order to get your set-up done the way you want it to be. I spent time making sure the information was absolutely correct and checked the final product against my records to ensure accuracy.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
It was easy from my point of view! I simply called Dayforce (Ceridian as it was then), told them what I needed and why and within a few days they had set this the codes they way I needed them. Again, your input is the key to success. You need to know exactly what you want the code to do and explain this to Dayforce - they are terrific and knowledgeable people and more than willing to help!
Nothing more to add but this: Dayforce employs people willing to help. Use them to help you succeed in your HR and payroll needs.
Powerpay support staff are Superheroes! The are helpful, efficient, knows their product and do not mind imparting their product knowledge to their users. They have solved problems that have crept up in rare situations, and they gladly help when needed. I LOVE this company and their employees. They go beyond to help and you never sit on the phone for hours waiting for them to answer or help! Great people!
I don't think we did. We do not have the need for premium support.
No
I've received exceptional support each and every time I've contacted Powerpay! I expect nothing less ... and the Powerpay employees have never let me down!
Powerpay is easy to use and is a logical online system. Nothing is overly complicating. Doing payroll is not overly complicated and this system is user friendly and easy to understand and use. And if you get stuck, there is a great support system to help you navigate and understand what you need to do.
  • The fact that you can review each employee's pay statement before actual submission is amazing!
  • No cumbersome functions that I've notices
We have a small staff of less than 20 employees. We moved our payroll from a previous provided because of terrible and expensive service. Dayforce is much, much easier to use and costs about 30% less than the previous provider. Dayforce Powerpay also seem to have people that speaks clearly and are efficient in everything they do so that less time is wasted by phone calls that has you on hold for 3 hours!
I have never experienced application errors or unplanned outages. I do know that I could phone Dayforce Powerpay and give them hours and other deductions and they would do the payroll and I could either have them deliver the completed payroll by courier (there are small extra charges for this) or I could download the completed payroll on pay day. I have also been able to complete payroll our payroll at home instead of at the office. Dayforce is very accessible by phone or online.
Pages online load in seconds. Click and it's instantly there! I have never had pages not loading properly or taking time to load. Payroll reports also downloads quickly. We do not interface Dayforce Powerpay with anything else.
We do not integrate Dayforce Powerpay with any other products.

We have not integrated Dayforce Powerpay with anything yet. (no plans to do so.
It was simple and easy. It was more difficult to convince the head of the school to allow me to switch providers! She is now thanking me as Dayforce Powerpay works so well and saves time and money!
I have never had a problem working with any Dayforce Powerpay -Ceridian Powerpay as it was before- employees. They are all professional, knowledgeable, very pleasant to interact with and extremely helpful. They consistently take customer services to a higher level. Great people to deal with!

We negotiated terms acceptable to both parties.
Pretty standard contract terms. Unit pricing is about 30% less than the previous provider - service is about 150% better with Dayforce Powerpay that with the previous provider! We are billed twice per month as we do payroll twice per month.
Know what you you want and need and communicate this clearly to the sales person - as you would in everything else you would ever purchase.

Our bookkeeping firm uses Dayforce Powerpay to run payrolls for 15 clients. It is a very efficient product with good software and the CSR staff are exceptional when compared with other payroll processing companies.
  • Running regular payroll for salaried and hourly employees
  • Adding extra payments such as bonuses, retro payments & vacation payouts
  • Processing ROEs
  • Providing payroll reports
  • It is frustrating that you need to open a new pay period to change an employee's salary amount
  • The deductions area could come pre-populated with options to choose from regarding medical/dental insurance, LTD, life & AD&D
Dayforce is excellent for companies where all employees are on salary as you can select "run as is" and be confident that your payroll will run every pay period.
Where Dayforce is less convenient is for payroll with hourly employees. Sometimes all the hours aren't available by the cutoff time and then it is necessary to run an Extra run to pay out the employees who submit their hours late. QBO payroll allows these employees to be added as soon as the hours are available at no extra charge.

  • Dayforce Powerpay has had a positive impact on the payroll and HR services that our bookkeeping & payroll firm offers.
Wagepoint has made errors in the past. ADP has terrible customer service. QuickBooks Online is convenient however the Dayforce Powerpay pricing is better for larger payrolls. Payworks has no "run as is" option.

Customer Service has been horrible for Dayforce and Powerpay. They have some knowledgeable staff but an equal amount that will steer your wrong. They ignore cancellation requests so they can charge you more, they ignore verbal confirmations where you request 1 month of a particular service then charge you more because you didn't send in a formal cancellation. Overall the best experience I've had with Ceridian has been mediocre but for the most part I'm happy to have moved over to ADP.

Ceridian Powerpay is currently being used by our organization for payroll processing. While we have a small team, especially during the pandemic, it is still the best payroll software I have experience with regardless of team size. Ceridian helps ensure payroll is processed quickly, accurately, and on time every time. The interface is extremely user friendly, you can customize payroll settings accordingly. Being in the hospitality industry we are able to apply tips to payroll if needed. Ceridian makes it easy to add and remove employees easily - which is extremely beneficial in an industry with high turnover rate and during this pandemic. Issuing automatic ROEs and T4s is also a huge bonus. It really helps take the stress off of the individual who processes payroll.
  • Very intuitive and user friendly interface.
  • Automatic ROEs and T4s.
  • Customizing your payroll needs whether that be tips, commission, extra deductions, dual pay rates, etc.
  • Their support is extremely helpful, although rarely needed.
  • Would be great if you could search for specific ROEs in the system rather than having to go into each individual pay period package to locate - especially when there may be 10+ ROEs.
In all honestly I don’t know a situation where Ceridian Powerpay would not be appropriate to use. I have used it at a company with 12 employees, and at a company with 100 employees. The system works great regardless of company size and the benefits significantly outweigh any (if any) negatives.

I only have experience with the system in the hospitality industry but it covered all our needs and more that I can only imagine that would apply to other industries as well.
  • Being able to customize our payroll - having customized deductions, dual pay rates, option to add tips.
  • Ease of creating ROEs & T4s.
  • Accurate reporting and ability to review previous payrolls going back years.
  • User friendly interface which allows other users to learn for “just in case” scenarios.

  • The return on investment has been substantial for our company. Having a payroll system that calculates everything for you, processes important documents, and only takes minimal time and effort allows us to focus more time on running the business and generating revenue.
  • Instead of having a user spend half a day (or potentially a full day) processing payroll, it only takes a couple hours (obviously depending on how many employees need to be processed).
Have not used any other payroll software in my experience.

We use Ceridian Powerpay for payroll administration and some minor HR activities/processes. The software is used for processing payroll for all areas of the organization on a bi-weekly basis. The main business problem it solves is providing a single solution for the administration of payroll that, due to its nature, makes the process more streamlined and simplified, eliminating many of the otherwise manual aspects of payroll. As nearly all of our workforce is salaried, the actual payroll process can be completed in less than an hour without fail.
  • Ceridian Powerpay simplifies the payroll process, very little manual work involved during each payroll run.
  • Ceridian Powerpay is mostly an intuitive interface with easy to understand workflows to allow for multiple users to be able to use the system if required.
  • Reports could be more robust. You can pull reports from Ceridian Powerpay, but they are often relatively necessary and not useful for more advanced analysis and filtering, which would have to be done manually.
  • Changes to the system cannot always be completed on your own and require intervention from Ceridian via support. While this meant as a safety feature so that it doesn’t compromise the setup of your company, more advanced users should be able to use this without intervention/support.
Ceridian Powerpay is useful for an organization with either a small or large workforce, with a reasonably simple payroll setup. Our organization does not have any complicated commission schema, so Ceridian Powerpay works excellent for standard payroll that doesn’t change too much from week to week, often with salaried employees that have predictable compensation. I would hesitate to recommend Ceridian Powerpay to an organization with more complication pay systems, especially if they are larger as Ceridian Powerpay seems better suited to standard payroll without anything outside of the norm. While not feature-rich overall, Ceridian Powerpay gets the job done, and it is easy to use, so you can rely on multiple users in the organization being trained to use the software without requiring a significant investment on your part.

  • Positive: Ceridian Powerpay is cost-effective for our organization as we do not require a more robust solution—it fits our needs well without breaking the bank.
  • Positive: Ceridian Powerpay is mostly intuitive, easy to use, and as a result, easy to train team members in. This allows for additional coverage for the payroll system should the key user not be available or require assistance.
Having used both Ceridian Powerpay and DayforceHCM, I find that Ceridian Powerpay is the better solution for the average user. DayforceHCM provides a more fully-featured solution for an organization, but utilizing those features will depend on your organizational needs. Moreover, the total cost of DayforceHCM is much higher than the Ceridian Powerpay. Unless you can justify the higher overall cost for some features that you may not take advantage of, Ceridian Powerpay will work better for your smaller business and workforce. I also appreciate the relative simplicity and intuitive nature of Ceridian Powerpay. While Ceridian Powerpay mostly does one thing, it does it well and does not need any additional features to serve as your primary solution for the administration of payroll.
Generally, Ceridian Powerpay support is strong, with the edge given to the telephone staff, which is prompt and always helpful. When I have had to reach out via telephone, I am greeted quickly and provided with a quick resolution to my issue. The email support leaves a bit to be desired, though, as my experience with change requests result in long waits for confirmation and completion, with some instances not even being given a resolution to an issue without requiring additional follow-up. I shouldn’t have to stay on top of the support in addition to providing the details needed, and it should just get done.
