It is currently being used and evaluated in the IT department to determine its efficacy in helpdesk and remote worker applications. We are testing it for long-term comfort, ease of use, and intelligibility for videoconferencing. We are currently pleased with the 500 Series headsets and may roll them out org-wide.
  • Comfort
  • Audio quality
  • Long-distance range of signal
  • Noise cancellation
  • Mute sync with software
The Cisco 500 series headset seems well suited to an application like a helpdesk person, anyone who is on the phone but needs mobility, and remote workers, particularly those who do a fair amount of video conferencing. The audio quality on the microphone and the speakers is top-notch, so it does well in all of these applications. Being a smaller headset, it may not be well suited to high noise applications since it does not completely enclose the ear, and it has no active noise cancellation.
I have not had to engage with support, but based on past interactions, I imagine they would do well.

We did a bake-off between this Cisco headset and a battery of other (Sennheiser, Jabra, Plantronics/poly) headsets to see what we would use within T-mobile. It was only used by my department and maybe one other as part of the testing and it really didn't solve any business problems for us. We were just looking for the right headsets for our user base.
  • Good audio quality
  • Nice Mics for speaking
  • Good battery life
  • Not very comfortable
  • Too expensive
It does have great quality of the audio and mic, so this is a great headset from the standpoint that it gets the job done. The real problem is it's not comfortable to wear all day. Your ears will hurt if you wear it for more than a few hours. So maybe this headset would be great for users that are not on the phone all day.
Too expensive and too uncomfortable for extended periods of use. This headset was good quality and good mics/speakers, but in the end they were roughly the same as the cheaper headsets from the other vendors. So it was not really a win like I normally see with Cisco products, but I guess you cant win them all!
