The usage scenario was different. I don't see this as a benefit versus harm comparison, necessarily. What happened was that, at a certain point, the implementation of the cisco solution was the winner of our public bidding process and with that, we implemented it and have used it ever since.

Cisco's durability and ease of enforcing wireless access security policies with its CleanAir technology, and despite its cost, allowed us to go with Cisco Aironet Access Points. Also, configuring Cisco Autonomous APs via CLI was more straightforward to do than configuring Ubiquiti APs. And Cisco has more documentation online to read from than most other vendors.

D-Link Wireless network solution was being used previously in [a] few areas of our plant and it was working well with [a] low number of users but as the company grew, and user base started to grow we started seeing hanging, disconnection, and very low-performance issues in our wireless network. We replaced the entire network with Cisco Aironet Access Points and since then the issues have been resolved and [the] wireless network is working with great performance.

My management periodically requests the wireless team to review other vendor products to at least attempt to achieve vendor-agnostic solutions. We deploy Cisco APs exclusively because the advanced feature set offered by Cisco APs leads the industry and I cannot match those features with any other vendor. Cisco is committed to constantly pushing the envelope with wireless technology and other vendors offer cheaper alternatives, but cannot match Cisco's feature set.

Although it is a good product and could easily fulfill our requirement, we already have a lot of Cisco products made by Aironet for our wireless network. Our trust in our reseller for Cisco equipment was the other reason.
