Cisco ASA is well suited for Large & Medium Scale infrastructure as it provides a bundle of security features in a single device & also it provides best-in-class technical support with easy documentation. Also, it provides deep scanning but for that need to purchase a firepower license additionally which is very costly.

Cisco ASA is well suited for small & medium-scale organizations providing basic security & connectivity. Cisco ASA cost is low as compared to another market available firewall so no such need to improve the network security budget for the same. Also, it is easy to configure so that beginner-level network engineers also can handle it.

This is only suited for small infrastructure organizations that want a small budget and need a basic level security. If you want deep-level security, then you should go with Cisco ASA with firepower. It is very easy to configure and easy to maintain a firewall. A beginner network engineer can also configure and maintain this. Lots of documentation is available for any help.

Cisco ASA is a fit in any scenario but I recommend it to those who have a lower budget for security. Cisco ASA is a very cheap and very secure firewall. Deployment is also very easy and every beginner can manage this. You will not face any downtime and misbehavior from this product.

According to me, this firewall is good option only for those who [have] limited budget, small company and not worry for deep security. With the help of this you can eas[ily] configure, implement and deploy in your existing network. The main advantage of this firewall is no downtime, it will never create any issue.

If your organization is a middle or a small business and you don't require advanced-level security then you can go with the Cisco ASA firewall. When it comes to Layer 7 security then you have to go with Cisco ASA firepower.

Cisco ASA firewall is the go-to solution for all organizations looking to have a security appliance that monitors data and wants to offer the ability to employees outside offices to connect with the office network to access files, folders, etc. I also like that its hardware is very durable and almost not prone to failure.

Small/medium businesses which need close port, port forwarding. If the companies need remote access, Anyconnect is easy to use and implement. Connect all the branches via Site-to-Site VPN. If you need to consolidate all the firewalls currently there is not a product solution.

Cisco ASA is well suited in most environments. They have a model that is sized for all situations from small, medium, or large corporations, to data centers. For smaller businesses on a budget, there are less expensive alternatives that will also get the job done. However, if you are looking for a reliable product, then the ASA should be at the top of your list.

The Cisco ASA is a very good product that has been developed and improved over many years. Many people know Cisco, so hiring the right people with the appropriate skill set isn't difficult. The security and protection it offers is of a high standard and we didn't have big security issues so far.

If there a need for a lot of users to connect to a corporate network using VPN, the AnyConnect option is very stable and reliable. Cisco ASA acts as a very good headend for VPN termination.
It is suitable for a banking environment, where Cisco ASA can act as a hub or spoke for DMVPN and hence reducing the burden of the configuration of 100' s of tunnels.

If you have the Cisco backbone and need to deploy a fast firewall
or VPN services go with the Cisco ASA product. Vpn functionality is great and
very easy to deploy and monitor. Cisco Anyconnect is a great tool. Complex
routing and Vpn scenarios are very easy to conduct. Hub and spoke connectivity scenarios
for the branches and central HQs are well fit for Cisco ASA deployment.
Moreover, if you’ve got the Cisco ISE being deployed, ASA is perfect for user-based ACLs
with custom compliance checks on the endpoints.

ASA is being referred to as legacy firewalls if you will user
classic L4 firewall sets with IPs and ports on the rules,; ASA is the right
choice. However, when you want to use full L7 with NG capabilities, you should
go with firepower or deploy additional solutions with Cisco ASA for L7 security
enhancements.

[Well suited for] small sites that don't require many features. The higher-end ASAs are very expensive and you are better off looking at alternative products. Cisco has a big problem ahead if they don't start pricing similar to other vendors.

If inter-VLAN routing and VLAN segmentation is all that is needed for a business then Cisco ASA does this job very well.
For more complex needs such as layer 7 packet inspection I would recommend a different product such as a Palo-Alto or Fortinet device.

The Cisco ASA that I managed at my branch office were two ASA 5515-X units. One as main and the other as failover. I put on the edge to make the filter and protect the internal network. In just one appliance, it enables web content filtering, application viewing, Anti-virus, Anti-Spam and IPS services features.

What is Cisco ASA?

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) software is the core operating software for Cisco’s ASA suite. It supports a variety of specialized network security and firewall options, allowing users to modularize to their business needs. It is scaled for enterprises through “clustering” ASAs, enabling 128 Gbps processing load and 50 million concurrent connections.

Cisco ASA provides a robust VPN setup process and integrates with other Cisco security offerings, including Cloud Web security and Trustsec. CWS provides cloud-based systems security across public and private clouds, and Trustsec is a software-defined segmentation product that mitigates the scope of network threats and data breaches. The platform also supports IPv4 and IPv6, enabling a smoother evolution in Internet Protocols for users.
