The support is usually very good and gets back to you very quickly. However I had some instances of when two engineers will give me wildly different answers to what I thought was a simple question. Overall however I do rate the support highly and they are generally always very good.

Cisco ASA does a great job. The only tricky aspect of being an experienced engineer is having to sit through Tier1 support. Most of the questions and steps they request have already been done if you know what you are doing. An experienced engineer will benefit from getting past tier 1 (this is true of all support staff typically). A customer that is supporting their own device, or less experienced engineer, is well suited to have Cisco ASA as a resource from tier1 and up.

I have only had to call Cisco support a few times on the ASAs, but they were fast in identifying the issue and worked with me to resolve it quickly. After the fact, they took the time to explain the problem so I could learn from the experience, which is not something many support lines bother to do. It is expensive, though.

Top grade for being happy with the product I'm using and managing. I have never had any serious problems with the Cisco ASA. I have nothing to complain about from this Next generation Cisco firewall. It is a great product, reliable, with great performance, and offers excellent support, if the customer needs help.

We haven't used support functions too much for this platform so can't really rate ASA focused support. However I rated over all Cisco support against our environments and it has been working quite well for the many platforms we have in our environment. The quality, speed and results have been at a good level.

Lately, Cisco TAC support is lacking behind. There have been issues and instances where generic answers such as "upgrade" are being used to close the case, but with proper escalation and good Cisco Sales team, this can be over hurdled. Escalation is the key to getting proper and great support.

What is Cisco ASA?

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) software is the core operating software for Cisco’s ASA suite. It supports a variety of specialized network security and firewall options, allowing users to modularize to their business needs. It is scaled for enterprises through “clustering” ASAs, enabling 128 Gbps processing load and 50 million concurrent connections.

Cisco ASA provides a robust VPN setup process and integrates with other Cisco security offerings, including Cloud Web security and Trustsec. CWS provides cloud-based systems security across public and private clouds, and Trustsec is a software-defined segmentation product that mitigates the scope of network threats and data breaches. The platform also supports IPv4 and IPv6, enabling a smoother evolution in Internet Protocols for users.
