Configuration based on a policy tag is very effective, each location has its own site-tag to which access points in a given location are assigned. The remaining policies are common and shared. This facilitates configuration, management and subsequent possible changes. It is also very transparent.

As I mentioned earlier, it allows us to extend certain policies to a large number of APs all at once (for example an RF policy), but some features were lost with the retirement of Prime Infrastructure.

extending and managing policies across your wireless network with the help of the cisco catalyst 9800 series of wireless controllers is an easy task. it is highly scalable and can control a large number of wireless access points without any issue or delay - a task that would be close to impossible if you had to configure each access point by itelf

Creating the policies itself is a little difficult and seems unnecessarily complicated, and not that self-explanatory. But once they are all setup, actually attaching them to WiFis is a matter of a few clicks, and can be scaled up very easily. Configurations can also be done very fine-grained. However, a wizard that guides you through the configuration would be very welcome

Yes as I wrote before, the tags are very useful to have a regular config over all of the APs. So we have only to set the right AP Name, and then the Policy Tag, RF-Tag, and Site Tag are set to the right value.
