We take the simple approach, and have deployed them in the IDFs as stacks. They are very easy to manage and have proved very reliable over the past several years. Being able to add another switch makes them great for scalability.

Catalyst switches have provided advanced manageability of the network through their advanced features relating to layer1/2 testing. The advanced security control features such as 802.1x, DHCP snooping, DAI, UDLD, storm-guard, loop guard, root guard, and CRC/FCS checking information are all advanced security features that protect the information security to the full scope of the CIA/AIC triad. We have implemented these to control a network and have used the switch stacking technology to provide an ease of manageability and thus a save administrator overhead through time-saving.

Cisco Catalyst Switches provides advanced customization and manageability of which integration with Cisco Prime Infrastructure is crucial, either with hardware appliances or with virtual appliances. CLI is legacy for Cisco. And Cisco DNA is a step up which opens a lot of additional capabilities from which end users will benefit a lot.

Yes, we have used these capabilities in ways we can keep cost and downtime controlled. Sometimes with little effort and other times with additional help. Most times we were able to get things done fast and cheaply.

We have often purchased lower-end switches from Cisco, which do not offer advanced features. However, we do now have DNA Center and know how to use the tools to better set up and manage our network environment. Time will tell on this issue as we progress in our Cisco installations.

We have managed to build our network environment in a unique way that allows easy management and implementation of new devices. Customized wireless environment by powering wireless access points using Cisco Catalyst 9200 Poe Switches. Reduced costs of replacing faulty switches frequently due to the reliability of Cisco Catalyst Switches. Very easy to install.

The switches are easily configurable with a template to solve problems on a larger scale. With ansible or DNA Center there are options to improve management on an even larger scale. These switches offer a lot of options and monitoring capabilities (SNMP) to suit a whole lot of business needs.

It has benefitted us immensely, as they easily integrate with our organization's infrastructure. Additional rack and stack deployments go through a breeze with minimal hiccups, if any. We have full control of the feature set that we need and enable, as well as control over the feature set (s) that we need to disable if not used at the moment.

Depending on the model of Cisco Catalyst Switch, there are many different levels of customization and feature sets. And, once passing into the current 9k family, there is a lot of interoperability through DNA, ISE, SD-WAN, and more that are of great benefit to larger corporations. We are still at the beginning stages of these newer features, but the main benefit we're receiving right now is the availability and flexibility.

Cisco Catalyst 9300

The Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches that we deploy are normally provisioned via the command line. We generally still manage these devices via the command line but will then monitor the devices with a variety of monitoring tools such as PRTG. These switches support Flexible Netflow so we’ll also export this information to other products.

We have benefited from the advanced customization but we only use the CLI so any functionality comes from our baseline configurations. After that, we add or remove whatever is needed based on the scenario. I can’t specifically point to an instance of advanced customization but I’m sure we've had some. We use a variety of NAC solutions as well as various other tools and they all work well with the Cisco Catalyst Switches.
