- can drop ship and get smart hands or client to connect via phone call to setup if needed
- support is out standing, usually over night all rma
- pfSense, SonicWall TZ, Extreme Ethernet Switches, ExtremeWireless, Datto and Azure Application Gateway
also for those outside of the office, we rely on the client vpn that is tied to AD, so that random connections are secure. this is even more important with the COVID and the work from home model. we are also looking to go HA with a hot spare since it's such a key point of access now
- security from intrusions
- client vpn
- stream line setup
- for the technologically challenged we send out z3 and do a site to site from their home office
- enable branch office site to site to so that it removes the need for client vpn
To Meraki, or not to Meraki?
- Deployment times reduced.
- Central Management costs.
- View into the network greatly improved, all the way to Layer 7.
- Security greatly improved.
- Reporting is great online, but an improvement to export the reports to PDF would be great.
- Deployment costs reduced.
- Licensing cost have increased.
- Management time reduced.
- Centralised Management for our NOC/SOC
- Cloud management makes deployment a breeze.
- Advanced Security allows for proactive Security management and integration
- Combined with the MS and MR products proves to be beneficial giving up to date Layer 7 information about the network.
- The MR Bluetooth beaconing allows for gathering key metrics around visitors, passerby's, and loyalty customers.
- Security, security , security, as they continue to strengthen their security offerings we are able to leverage their strengths and protect our customers better each day. This has led to some additional revenue streams and reduced the average support costs.
- The Meraki API allows for a lot of future development within our customer base and with potential new customers.
Great firewall solution
- The cloud management console is incredibly easy to use and very powerful
- The device looks the part, so for an open plan office it looks good
- Forms part of the Meraki estate to easily add wireless and switches into the network
- Very quiet operation, doesn't make nearly as much noise as other firewalls
- Not cheap to purchase initially
- While the interface in the cloud is great (and constantly improving) it's aimed towards the less techy, and so certain features are squirreled away.
- once you have committed you have to pay for the cloud access for them to work. DO your homework on costs
- Can be difficult to sort issues if your internet connection drops internally
- Cost of purchase and maintenance is high. And it significantly increased recently.
- This is offset by the ease of use which has a positive ROI effect since staff spends less time configuring and monitoring the firewalls.
- The web filtering was pivital to assist us keep users "business focused" so is a bonus
- WatchGuard
- protection from hackers
- Interconnectivity between remote sites
- Web blocking of dodgy websites
- monitoring
- Spotting potential network issues, with its web interface you could track network traffic all the way to particular users and so pin point when someone's machine is having issues easily.
- Further investment in firewalls at other sites, to enable to alternative tunneling solutions they offer, thus meaning we can have seamless access over the backup lines we have would be interesting.
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Third-party Reviews
- Implemented in-house
- As we have different model firewalls at other sites the IPSEC configuration (making the devices talk to one another) was the tricky bit but not impossible.
- Similarly to above, matching what we had with web blocking took a little time as it was a different interface
- The web interface is very simple and the configuration is very easy, even for more complex requirements
- If you have an issue that involves loss of internet connectivity, it can be a little hard to resolve as the web interface doesn't work
