Cisco Routers are well suited when it comes to create a meshed VPN infrastructure with all your branch offices worldwide. You can easily configure the Cisco Routers with static VPN, DMVPN or SD-WAN, which is great. You can also use a Cisco Routers as a CUBE to establish a direct routing (voice) for MS Teams.

Cisco Routers are suited towards higher-end and more complex configuration scenarios. Small businesses would likely not want the cost or burden of having a dedicated Cisco-certified engineer to maintain them. However, we have found they are reliable and sturdy. The interface can be complex to an outsider, but we also request that our routers perform complex tasks.

Cisco has a very easy CLI and most importantly it is known to most network engineers. There is a huge possibility that Cisco solutions are available over the Internet for a particular problem or a use case. Cisco has been improving ever since, however, Cisco can improve in areas such as rollback or error checking mechanism during the configuration, Juniper Networks Routers has done a great job in this area. Cisco is well suited for enterprise environments, however, for Service Provider Networks there are many options available.

There are so many different models that there is absolutely one to fit every need. Running IOS-XE across the board makes management easy as you don't have to remember different syntax per device. I can't think of a scenario where they're less appropriate, unless it's a mom and pop shop. Enterprise-quality routers with SLA's to match.

The Support mechanism of Cisco is really world-class. So for hassle-free and robust networking, the Cisco routers are my first choice. So I am always proud to recommend my colleagues to go with Cisco routers. The USP is the on time replacement of faulty parts, which keeps the business going always.

Some of the scenarios where Cisco Meraki MX routers are more suitable are for sites where there is no technical presence to be manipulating or configuring the network, and some of the scenarios where Cisco Meraki MX routers are less suitable are when advanced capabilities of routing, such as MPLS or metro aggregation protocols.

Cisco Merika series routers are well suited for enterprise environments as they support plug-and-play deployment, high-speed internet access via 802.11ax and Mu-MIMO OFDMA, management via cloud-based web portal, network access control via application layer firewall and 802.1x or radius server-based authentication, guest access control using BYOD, secure roaming across the routers, presence analytics to identify clients and visitors behaviors. The devices have a radio to support Bluetooth devices. The Meraki series routers are not well suited to provide connectivity to low-powered IoT devices.

Cisco routers are best used in medium to large businesses. They can be rather expensive, but necessary as a network grows. If you have a single building it might be more beneficial to buy a cheaper solution. If you plan on expanding it would be better to implement Cisco because there are so many other features your business can grow into.

These routers are perfect for modern carrier networks and the aggregation of remote sites (as edge devices in branch or Border routers against ISPs). The ASRs Series are high density, power-efficient, and a very secure platform. It also [has] software virtualization capabilities that improve security, that devices have very good performance and are stable. Honestly, we didn't have problems during the implementation phases with them. They can also work well as fusion routers for the SD-Access solution, routing packets outside the fabric (to the DC or remote sites) using BGP and VRFs.

Cisco Routers have a wide range of product portfolios, from small business series to massive ISP grade routers. Most of the series is well suited for enterprises with a large number of branches, but [the] small business series is designed specifically for companies with [fewer] sites. Others are made to be used in large internet service providers.

One major drawback of Cisco Routers is that it is quite expensive. It may not be the perfect budget friendly item for most small companies. However, it is highly accessible and reliable. Security concerns are next to nil so it is something one can rely on, without fearing frauds and security breeches.

Cisco Routers are well suited for organizations that are looking for reliable and secure network routers. Once they are set up and configured, they have a reputation for longevity. Updates from Cisco are provided on a regular basis and contain many security patches throughout the year. The use of Cisco Routers might be less appropriate for smaller organizations that may not have the staff to support the devices.

The Meraki MX series of Cisco Routers are well suited for an organization that doesn't have enough time to manage firewalls, security, or updates--along with the cash flow to pay for the yearly subscription. They are also good for organizations with multiple levels of IT experience because the web interface makes it easy to change network settings, track where network devices are, and deploy updates. They are not good for networks that are highly static because you would already know where things are on the network and wouldn't need the web interface for finding devices or changing settings. They are also not good for companies that don't want to pay an ongoing subscription fee, as the cost is quite high compared to what is provided, and if you stop paying for the yearly subscription, the hardware is useless.

Cisco Routers are well suited for mid to large companies. Be it for WAN or SD-WAN or Internet connections. These routers got the functions to handle all these. These routers may be less appropriate if you need ease of management or GUI management only. Routers are good for routing and may not be able to do all functions of firewalls, so should not be used in replacement of FW for these.

There are routers of all sizes for all needs that can be implemented as basically as needed or in the most complex of environments. The only time where they may be not suited is when the supporting staff may not be Cisco-savvy as there is a learning curve involved.

As Cisco is still the de facto standard for routers or even other network equipment, it is the brand to go to. Especially high-end usage is excellent. It might be a bit too expensive for smaller companies. But quality has a price, so Cisco is certainly always worth to have a look at.

The best use case for Cisco over other vendors is their training and certification programs, which are the de facto standard. If you only have experience with Cisco gear and don't want to expand your horizons, then Cisco is obviously going to be the choice.
