(251-275 of 279)Cision Reports Illustrates Earned Media ROI
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- The search function allows for targeted reports and pulls articles from print, broadcast and web that meet the parameters.
- The ad equivalency widget allows use to easily provide a snapshot to the senior team of the return on investment of public relations/earned media.
- Cision's customer service is superb and accessible when needed. We appreciate the chat feature in the platform, which allows us to receive support in a timely manner.
- We would like to see more integration with social media. Currently, the only social media function is "social amplification," which allows the user to only see articles that were shared by the media outlet on the web. This does not account for total social media mentions or content posted by the media on their social media channels.
- The clip function only pulls in the first mention of the organization, which typically takes place during a teaser, which does not allow us to download the full clip. We need to use Cision's chat forum to speak with a customer service representative to download the full clip.
- Designing a search can often be confusing and I tend to need an account architect to help develop the best searches. It may be helpful to include a handy info chart to the advance search term page to help the user use the proper terminology.
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- The staff at Cision are all very welcoming, helpful and enthusiastic about the platform. I have been pleased with all the training our company has received and there is always someone available to answer our questions in a timely manner.
- The dashboard is very user-friendly and give you a lot of options to look at. We especially love the ability to customize which charts and graphs we see and the timeframe.
- The social amplification feature is really cool and helps us identify which stories are really resonating with our audience.
- The reports are beautiful and simple, making it easy for use to share our findings with the internal team.
- I wish there was more ability to edit the reports to add in multiple charts/images per page and link the images out.
- I am still working to get the searches completely where I want them. The filters seem to work to some degree but I am still getting some content that isn't relevant showing up in my searches.
Cision Communications Cloud Review
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- Compares clients' share of voice in the industry to competitors'
- Compiles media coverage into visual reports
- Customer service at Cision is unprecedented. The chat function is extremely helpful, and employees are quick to help.
- I would like to customize the colors of reports
- Would also like to view unique coverage (everything but press release pickups)
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- Tracking media coverage and share of voice against competitors.
- The ease of customizing reports to fit the needs of different clients.
- The presentation capabilities of the reports to senior leadership. They look extremely well polished and easy for non-PR leaders to understand.
- The on-demand customer service absolutely cannot be beat. The immediate chat function is by far the best in the industry in regard to PR reporting.
- TrendKite does not automatically pick-up as many placements as a competitor like Meltwater. I feel like their database of publications it scans has room for growth.
- The auto-filters (e.g. remove all press release mentions) is a nice touch, but it's not comprehensive. Serious Boolean coding must be done to get the searches just right.
- You cannot edit specific text or metrics within TrendKite once it pulls a media placement into the search/dashboard. For example, publications are sometimes automatically pulled in with the wrong publication name, and users cannot edit them on the spot. Also, in the age of working with digital influencers like YouTube reviewers, you cannot add these placements without seriously screwing up other metrics (e.g. ad equivalency, UVM), because it automatically pulls in YouTube's entire site, not just that channel. Then, you can't edit the metrics if you choose to add them manually.

Great tool, great support
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Cision Communications Cloud is pretty easy to use and can quickly compile information into a professional looking, interactive report. This often impresses clients.
- Cision Communications Cloud is very responsive and it's great knowing that support will always be there.
- Cision is always looking to improve and do better based on feedback. It's encouraging to know that a company cares what its users think.
- Cision is constantly improving and I have actually had the privilege of working very closely with Trendkite to make these changes.
- The tool can be hard to use due to freezing or the dashboard being slow to load.
- Cision Communications Cloud can sometimes pull irrelevant and duplicate articles; however, this is usually quickly remedied by Cision staff who can help refine search times.
I really, really love Cision Communications Cloud

Best PR Platform!
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Amazing customer service team! Extremely helpful and willing to walk you through anything.
- Prompt responses when our team asks questions about a certain feature or issue we're running into.
- The platform is very dynamic, interactive, and user-friendly. I love how we can customize the layout according to our needs.
- It'd be great to see Instagram's analytics being pulled up.
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- Dashboards - extremely easy to monitor your brand, products or competitors and see the impact the coverage is having.
- Automated Reporting - it used to take us several days to produce quarterly public relations reports. With Cision, they are automatic and even with some customization and data cleansing, I can produce reliable reports in a couple hours, max.
- Customer Support - amazing and nearly-instant customer support team available through online chat. They are always very helpful and willing to take the extra step to ensure I'm happy and getting what I need out of the product.
- Early Stage Product - TrendKite (now part of Cision Communications Cloud) is a baby in the old, crusty PR reporting industry. They frequently are adding new features and improving the product. Keeps getting better over time.
- Impact of social sharing - monitors social amplification so you can understand the life an article has after it has been published.
- Redundant Efforts - the UI can be buggy at times, but that's to be expected for new SaaS. Sometimes takes multiple tries to add a new publication if TrendKite didn't automatically pick it up or to change article sentiments.
- Impact on Digital Marketing - while Cision does integrate with Google Analytics to show traffic driven to your site from an article or blog post, it would expand on this by providing information about backlinks created and SEO impact.
- Local Coverage - not always accurate, could be improved on to discern between where an article is published vs where it's readership is.
Cision Communications Cloud makes things easier!
*This review was written before Cision aquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- The program is very easy to use.
- Great customer service.
- The reports feature is an easy way to prepare and present key information to leadership.
- We are still running into problems with Cision's ability to pull AP stories.
- When viewing a high number of results, such as a six-month coverage period, the sorting functions stop working.
Why we love Cision Communications Cloud
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Customer Support - first and foremost, the support team (as well as the sales folks!) are absolutely on point at Cision. I can reach anyone within minutes, or use live chat for a quick question. They're extremely well versed in their product and offer simple solutions as well as direct education - all with no additional "consult" fee.
- Education - From the first sales call to the most recent inquiry for dashboard help, the team at Cision has been wonderful at making sure their customers know how to use their program and get the most out of it. Our initial sales guy, Graham, was so patient with us as we went through the discovery process of looking for a new media monitoring tool. During each "sales call" he was so patient and wanted to collect whatever feedback we had in order to help us better understand the software. Now that we work directly with the customer support team, we couldn't be happier with the constant support and education.
- Proactive - There have been several mornings that I've woken up to receive an email from someone on the support staff notifying me that they have built a dashboard in our account because they noticed new press spikes that we may be interested in tracking. It means a lot to know that our working relationship extends beyond the sales call, and that the team at Cision is committed to providing us with the best service and knowledge of their product so we can become better at tracking our brand.
- I wish that on the social amplification "toggle" we could see where Twitter stands in comparison to other forms of social media.
Broke up with Meltwater for Cision Communications Cloud and now we're going steady for life
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- Cision's data does a great job translating PR efforts into media value, data that tends to be a bit more nebulous than other departments' reporting needs in our company.
- Cision has committed to closely monitor our needs and have acted quickly in times of emergency. Their commitment to customer service is unmatched by competitors.
- As they continue to grow as a company, they've used their own clients as a focus group in how to improve and expand upon the things their product already does well.
- Cision is in the process of creating this, but we have a need for standardized weekly reports to send to executive team members and unfortunately the current automated reporting isn't as thorough as we need.
- My company generates a lot more media during certain times of the year than others, but we still generate more media than other Cision clients so I don't think their product is entirely equipped to monitor massive media hits.
Cision Communications Cloud Makes Media Monitoring and Analytics Easy and Interactive
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Very easy user interface to create new dashboards in just a few minutes.
- The tool creates great interactive reports that can be shared with anyone. The interactive reports don't require the person the be a user to get a rich, custom experience.
- Very responsive customer service. We have asked Cision to create some rather complicated searches for us, and they have responded quickly and effectively. They also offered great training sessions for our team.
- It only captures news that's online, so the tool can sometime miss coverage that was in print but not posted to a news website.
- It would be nice if it captured broadcast coverage more effectively.
- As with most other machine tools, the sentiment analysis is to be taken with a grain of salt. (That said, it's easy to change tonality in the tool manually.)
Cision Communications Cloud Review
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- User-friendly interface
- Best interface among all media monitoring companies that we demoed
- Customer Service
- Customization
- Some historical perspective, but only because they haven't been around as long as some other competitors.
- Data of certain, local publications.
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Customer support reps help you customize the system to fit your exact needs
- Very agile
- Robust reporting and measurement
- Easy to use
- As with many systems, broadcast coverage isn't caught unless it's close captioned. I haven't found any system where that is not the case.
Cision Communications Cloud Makes PR Value Easy to See
*[This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.]
- Interactive reports are great. Senior members of the team get a high level report of what is happening with IFT in the media and then are also able to click on specific slides to see more in depth results.
- Cision's customer service is phenomenal. Our contact, Ashely Wallace is always super fast to respond and help us with anything we need.
- The results are tailored to our company and we are also able to track how our brands are mentioned in the media.
- The database is newer so some websites are currently not crawled to monitor for results unless we specifically have them added.
- We'd love to be able to monitor our print media hits.
- More specifics via social media.
Team Cision
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Cision Communications Cloud is greatly customizable.
- Cision Communications Cloud easily creates beautiful reports that are interactive and can be shared easily.
- Cision Communications Cloud was designed with public relations in mind. MODERN day public relations. This tool allows public relations professionals to report on the metrics that really matter and across all platforms and media mediums.
- Access to Print coverage would really round out the service.
- Ability to add multiple new pieces of online coverage at once. Currently, adding coverage takes a long time.
- Ability to copy dashboards across to multiple team members with different logins.
- Ability to create reports with elements from different dashboards (rather than sending multiple reports).
Why Cision Communications Cloud is a must-have for any PR agency
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Instant share of voice analysis to gauge your level of media coverage relative to competitors. Not only does Cision give you the measurements, but everything is interactive so you can understand WHY a metric is what it is, rather than guess or go with your gut.
- Very sharp interactive coverage reports. Before Cision we were reporting media coverage in the form of simple word documents that required lots of manual work and time. Now in the same amount of time that used to take, we can provide a much deeper and better-looking report that is much more appealing to an executive audience who may be reviewing the report on a tablet, for example.
- Customer service stands apart from the competition. There is a live chat feature built into the platform so at any point if you are confused or need help, someone can jump in and assist. Compare that with other tools where you have to submit a help ticket and wait a few days for a response-- again Cision is a no-brainer.
- Indexing of niche publications could be better. Cision gathers metrics from all the standard outlets, but if you need to monitor a niche blog or vertical publication you may need to flag Cision to add that to their system.
- Right now there is no way to share dashboards across users. So if you want everyone on your team to access the same dashboard, you have to share a login. It would be better to have this based around organization with individuals assigned to different teams with access to different dashboards.
- It would be great if Cision eventually added a media contact database component. That would allow us to further consolidate the number of tools our PR agency uses.
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of the Cision Communications Cloud.
- Interactive reports - the reporting is very well done and presents data in a clean way for an executive outside of marketing to understand.
- Strong search capabilities - the search capabilities are great, meaning that it can pick up coverage across the globe and also allows me to specify the search parameter.
- Great customer support team - the team is very responsive and has been critical to helping get my dashboards set up.
- I'd like to see the ability to replicate a dashboard without having it be a manual process.
- Ability to group dashboards into one category or move around dashboard order on the side bar.
- Ability to show year after year difference.
You win with people!
*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
- Customer service. Sandhya and her team are simply amazing. They are truly the reason we think so well of the product.
- I would love to see the dev team continue to understand what we are using the searches for in able to help us continue to develop ways to "weed out" unwanted/irrelevant mentions. The bells and whistles and reports are great, but they are only as good as that initial search.
A PR's Dream Come True!!!
- Interactive reports as well as detailed and customizable. I have never seen reporting done so well, high-tech and easy to use and read. Upper management loves that they can not only READ these reports, but that they click on the graphs etc., to go deeper to see exactly what media coverage influenced the spike in the graph, for example.
- Customer Service. In my experience of working with companies that we hire, it has always been an "I ask, they answer if possible" kind of relationship. With Cision, THEY reached out to me once we got started for training and tips and check ups to see how we were doing. I remember showing my Account Manager my first report I pulled and she gave great feedback for what was done right and things I could add/change to make an even better report. They are there right away when I need them, and they check on me in an amount of time that is appropriate (not too much, not too little). Plus... they have a live 'chat' feature on their website that I can contact for help/questions as well.
- Service Provided. With the previous company we were working with for this kind of service, it was left on our plates to do all the work which wasn't necessarily bad, it's just something that many companies do. With TrendKite, I was WOW'd that I could ask them to set up a dashboard, create a report, set up alerts, create a detailed Boolean code to include and disclude many different keywords/topics for one product/alert and truly anything I needed. They did it for me?! I was and still am floored at this amazing benefit of being a Cision customer because the amount of time it saves me is at least several hours a week, not to mention that when they set something up for me, I know it's done perfectly whereas if I do it myself, there is more room for error in searches. Or I can simply have them look over something I set up and they can tweak it to make it perfect. I can't express enough how invaluable this benefit is.
- Possibly adding a selection feature that auto-inputs the proper Boolean Code. For example, if I'm setting up a search, instead of typing in the Boolean, I would be given selections to click on based on my first keyword, and then the code would auto-input with further questions to better define the search. But, again, Cision does Boolean for you if you want, so this is just an idea because it's very hard to come up with cons for this company.
- Covering Social with hashtags and YouTube videos. This is a hard one for ANY company across the board. I don't believe any company can do this yet and I know Cision is working toward it in the future, so I simply support their efforts to one day be able to come up with these kinds of reports and analytics for social media with hashtags and YouTube videos.
- Although newspapers and magazines have all their articles on their websites now, I know it is still important for some people in my company to be able to see these printouts 'clipped' as well. Not a very big priority, but just another add-on for those who are used to seeing newspaper and magazine clips as opposed to online clips.
Avoid Cision/PRWeb/HARO at all costs!
- Nothing...
- The product UX looks and feels like it is from 1990.
- There are bugs in product that aren't being fixed.
- Very poor customer service.
- Unhelpful editorial team.
- Service appears to fail to reach the advertised number of outlets, even for top level premium level of distribution.
Cision: Nothing else tops it
- Database Management
- List organizations
- CRM tool
- Should regularly interact with the interface. There is so much you can do with it.
Not Flawless But the Best PR Database I've Used
- Helps a PR professional identify the right media contacts quickly.
- Enables easy bulk emailing to news media and bloggers.
- Makes it easy and efficient to find out about editorial calendar opportunities for any number of media outlets.
- Cision could do a better job of keeping its data fresher. Too often, I report editorial staff changes that Cision's research department should have already discovered.
- The tool for building emails is buggy and the work-arounds add more time to my work.
