The Cision boolean stunk and TrendKite bought us out of our platform. Which is why I assume Cision purchased TrendKite. Meltwater also does not have a great boolean or measurement platform. Unfortunately there is no option in this category that hits it out of the park and TrendKite [now part of Cision Communications Cloud] is the best - but still has a lot of work to do.

Muck Rack. I would switch in a second if we were in a financial situation where we could do so. We stayed with Cision because we are grandfathered into a good rate and are having a difficult time discovering a solution for switching.

[The former] TrendKite seems to be the most user-friendly and pulls in the most coverage. With the exception of certain broadcast outlets and international outlets, we typically are able to track most of our coverage.

Lexis Advance was more suited to our needs, but Cision's pricepoint was better.
Cision Communications Cloud didn't have the breadth of sources or features. However, for the work we were doing the Cision pricepoint made more sense.

Cision Communications Cloud combines all three of these but it is hard to just search broadcast or just search online, or just print. I always receive errors and it just constantly tries to refresh itself. Think the platform has a lot of data and a lot going on but it should be easier to customize if we don't need all of those details or things pulled. We should be able to customize our own dashboard based on what we need.

Overall I genuinely think that Cision Communications Cloud is a powerful tool, it's doing things that no other platform are doing. It provides valuable online data and information on what's hitting and what's not. I think integration with broadcast isn't great and I haven't tried out the print functionality as they haven't quite got it properly intergrated in the territories I've used it in. The price is a major blocker for lots of organisations, understandably.

We have other tools for social listening since we don't have the social package for Cision Communications Cloud. Cision Communications Cloud / TrendKite is the only platform we use for earned media monitoring.

We switched from Meltwater last year. The only thing we miss is the daily mentions newsletter. But Cision Communications Cloud's dashboard and customer service are far superior.

We've used a variety over the years. They all worked well based on what and how we used them at the time. We selected Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* for this year and the next based on the dashboard and communications tools they offered.


*This review was written near the time Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.

Cision Communications Cloud / TrendKite offered better reporting and better UI. We still rely upon Vuelio media monitoring however, as this is more robust and reliable than Cision Communications Cloud.

Social listening tools cover news media to varying degrees. Of these, my favorite is Talkwalker. Its coverage seems to be as comprehensive as Cision's (if there are gaps, I haven't noticed) and the boolean language and tool functionalities are far more advanced, flexible, and intuitive. It's also very convenient to house all the data in one tool, especially since there is always considerable overlap between social listening and media coverage (blogs, etc.) The advantage that Cision Communications Cloud has is that it allows you to pull far into the past without extra costs, and the coverage pulled into the tool is not limited by volume -- something that most social listening tools charge extra for.
