We have call center folks utilizing it extensively. Using the virtual desktop they can access the software attached to their from anywhere and any machine.
  • Ease of access from any desktop
  • Easy for helpdesk to support
  • Easy to push new software and updates to all user group through a single push
  • Security in healthcare is very critical and addresses that very strongly
  • Network Fileshare mapping where I have encountered some issues.
In my opinion, since I have been using the VDI for a long time I think Citrix Virtual Apps Essentials is the leader. I see it is more suitable where you multiple shift and same space is being utilized by many people.
I don't see in case of software development VDI is much needed.
  • Recently we integrated our cloud app with the Citirx Virtual Apps Essentials and am very satisfied.
  • Quicker time to value for sure
  • Customer Satisfaction
Users comfort was one of the main criteria of the selection.

Citrix Essentials is being used across the organization by our Information Technology group and our locations in 10+ countries. We use it in Finance and Accounting to connect to a virtual server in our secure data center, adding another layer of protection from fraudsters should a laptop or PC be compromised. We use this incremental layer of multi-factor authentication with Citrix Essentials to protect us in our sensitive applications.
  • It is flexible to log in, once you know how to do it, and then add and subtract applications in Google Chrome as the browser connected to Citrix Essentials.
  • We appreciate that we can have another complicated password plus the multi-factor authentication and this was relatively easy for IT to set up for us.
  • The price point was very reasonable since our IT group is currently a user and quickly deployed it to our finance department.
  • We found that our IT group had problems connecting Citrix to Firefox and Internet Explorer, Chrome was preferred. Not sure if this was Citrix or just our IT group's knowledge.
  • Our procedure manual would have been helped by easy screen instructions for the Citrix Essentials part of the implementation.
  • Not sure if this applies to Citrix, but online or virtual training would have helped for on-boarding its use.
For fast setup and implementation, Citrix Essentials was an enabler for connection success, otherwise, we could have just wasted time on other alternatives. Seemed that it was more 'out of the box' which works for us since we don't have the financial resources for complicated implementations. If this was a major ERP implementation, not sure if this would be the most appropriate solution across many countries.
  • Our department just saw internal costs which made the ROI positive.
  • Finance as well as IT did not have to hire consultants which additional saved us money and time.
  • Citrix seems quite upgradeable which meets our IT objectives.
Frankly, there were limited alternative products besides Citrix Essentials, and maybe we just need to learn more. We did not have the time to process complex Request for Proposals, obtain RFP responses, do a short-list, reference checks and a final selection with oral presentations, so IT helped Finance with moving forward and we appreciated their technical advice, speed, and guidance.

We used it to help our development clients anticipate and understand the proposal of changes we'd like to make to their UX design. The tool allowed them to understand our goals and align with the anticipation of delivery.
  • User interface
  • Support
  • Integration
  • Lack of capability for expansion
  • Brand recognition
  • Reputation in tech
I would recommend citrix essentials to smaller companies or to anyone who does not need the most up to date, easiest client interface, or ability to have constant real time updates. In our market, the product is not our first choice, but it does suit the needs of other smaller, more managed shops.
  • Client delivery
  • Relationship management
  • Visualization
