Some users have reported crashes in the Java front end of the desktop program, requiring them to restart the service or their computer for resolution.
  2. Price and Trust Concerns: Several users have mentioned that they find Code42 to be more expensive compared to other backup services like Backblaze. The discontinuation of consumer options and the removal of the ability to back up to a remote machine on a different network have damaged trust between Code42 and its clients.

Some users have expressed frustration with the level of assistance received when encountering issues with the software.

  3. Users recommend implementing CrashPlan as soon as possible, especially for managing both Windows and Linux servers. They find CrashPlan to be a reliable and stable backup solution, making it suitable for both personal and business use.

  • I cannot speak for the bottom line, but I can speak for downtime. If any department is at a situation of "downtime" that interrupts the flow of production, this is potential loss for money. CrashPlan has been used to recover a few shared drives, reducing that downtime in our billing department, which in turn increased work productivity.

  • Prior unreliable backup methods led to more prevalent data loss in the past when hardware failures occurred. With end users on CrashPlan, we can typically restore 100% of their files and documents within an hour of reimaging or replacing their devices.

  • ROI is hard to calculate with data, but we average about 2 TB of data restored every 30 days. This is available 7 days a week.
  • Employee efficiency has gone up since we can cut out the middle man to allow users to restore their data without having to contact IT.

  • Productivity - When it comes to restoring our users and getting back up and running, this tool is unparalleled.
  • Desktop migration - migration from a legacy workstation on to a new one is immediately easy and less painful.
  • It can be hard to illustrate a clear ROI if none of our users have a hardware malfunction or malware due to our other network protections. Without a hard crash, sometimes leadership assumes that their invisible tool isn't as useful as it truly can be.

  • Employee peace of mind when it comes to data backups.
  • Cost. We deployed our local Crashplan Pro E server years ago and it hasn't needed anything besides more storage space.
  • ROI has been astronomical.

  • With CrashPlan, the user is able to initiate restores on their own, with little to no help from IT staff. The client UI is quite easy to use, especially with their new client with release 5.1.
  • CrashPlan has freed up time for both end users and IT staff with it's simplicity and seamless backup.
  • The capability for a hybrid approach is useful when a large restore is needed quickly. You can have both on-site and cloud backup destinations.
