It is being used by the accounting department. It allows our accounting technician to work daily on the organisation's laptop in Canada and allows myself, the accounting supervisor, to connect weekly from Australia for end of the month procedures and conciliations.
  • Let's you see if the other laptop is connected or not
  • Allows a permanent connectivity, as long as the laptop is connected to the app (no time out or limited session time)
  • Easy to set up
  • A function to allow shifting from the controlled screen to the original screen (alt tab between screens)
  • Autoconnect from remote screens after restart
Well suited:
  • Remote control needed
  • Connections to multiple screens required

Less appropriate:
  • Personal use. If travelling and want to connect to your office computer left at home, connection might be disrupted if the computer restarts and no one is there to reconnect it to the app.

I initially purchased ScreenConnect which is now ConnectWise because of the pricing and the functionality of the product. It has continued to improve over the years and I still use it to help people with their computers remotely. It solves the problem of having to schedule an appointment to see a customer when it sometimes is a quick fix that can have them back up and running almost immediately. It makes for a happier customer and help with efficiency of the service tech.
  • Fast access with no lag
  • Easy to use for both client and tech.
  • Uses very few system resources.
  • The toolbox is one of the best features.
  • The loading of the product by the end user could be a little more streamlined
  • Many antivirus software programs remove the program thinking it is a virus. Coordinating with the antivirus companies to make ConnectWise an exception to the virus list would be helpful
  • The pricing for the new companies could be less expensive. The pricing increased drastically when ConnectWise bought ScreenConnect.
The best use is for remote support. It's also a good program for allowing an end-user remote access to their computer.

ConnectWise is used to provide end-user support to all 22 of the departments within our organization. It is primarily for remote support sessions and file transfer. We also use the cloud version for non-administrators to connect to devices remotely.

The biggest problem we had was the cost of the prior solution and the limitations on number of supported devices. With ConnectWise concurrent use licensing, we were able to self-host the service and optimize the use of the application while holding down costs.
  • Remote Support -- very easy to initiate a session or have a remote support user join a session.
  • Adding devices to be supported - simple install and configuration
  • Supports MFA - seamlessly integrated with DUO for multi-factor authentication and greater security controls
  • The file transfer could use some improvement; it is a bit disjointed to move files between machines.
  • Multiple monitor support; switching monitors should be improved. Most of the devices we support are dual monitor PCs and it would improve the support experience to have auto-scrolling between screens.
I can't think of a more appropriate scenario. It is well suited for our environment (small to medium sized local government technology support department) with a few technicians and less than 1,000 devices.

At our company, we used to use RDP in Windows to connect to our terminal server for remote access. This process was tedious and didn't map our printers accurately, so we decided to switch to a new method of remote desktop.
We moved to LogMeIn and used that service for 3 years. The service worked just like we wanted, however, for our small business it became very expensive (over $1,500.00 per year.) I started looking for an alternate solution and came across ConnectWise Control. We made the final switch to this service, as it worked seamlessly for what we needed, was inexpensive, and very responsive. There is no lag in the service and our remote printing works seamlessly. I'm so glad we found this product and I plan on being a long-term customer!
  • Remote service is fantastic, no lag experienced.
  • Remote printing works seamlessly.
  • Management of users / groups is very simple.
  • I don't have any cons at this point.
ConnectWise Control works perfect for anyone wanting to have remote access to desktops or servers across their networks.

I originally purchased ScreenConnect back in 2009 and built an in-house server to host it on an old DELL GX1 desktop computer. I have used it heavily for all 9 years and use it currently to support my clients of my computer repair/support business.

I have a domain name tied to it: "helpmejasonc.com" and a sub-domain tied to it as well: "remote.jasonaclarke.com".

In the last 2 years, I migrated my installation to a VPS to better support my users and to provide greater up-time reliability. I love this product and have never had a problem using it.

I currently have 2 concurrent licenses and plan to renew my support again in the next few weeks.
  • Allows me to reach my customers without the need to go onsite.
  • Allows me to perform maintenance off hours, off premises.
  • Allows me to complete work that is needed once the user takes their computer home...and perform this work for them once connected back at their location.
  • Gives me a service I can provide that others who do what I do...can't
  • I have seen nothing that is missing....the best addition was the ability to have unassisted clients. I use this for connecting to devices I manage for organizations such as servers and user computers. This allows me to maintain these devices off hours.
I have already recommended this to other colleagues. They have seen my setup and have been very impressed with it. This product was recommended by another colleague back in 2009...when it was being used by an application development company to support software of theirs that we had purchased. I got an initial trial license and I have been using it ever since.

ConnectWise (CW) is used for remote control of technology for our customer base. Being in the DMV (District, Maryland, VA) area it's not always easy to dispatch and engineer for a site visit. CW gave us the flexibility of assisting the customer in a quicker manner and better allocating our resources to other tasks.
  • Ease of use.
  • Low impact to the end user environment.
  • The O & M of the product itself is nominal.
  • More flexible port/protocol options (firewalls are squirrely).
  • Better multiple session management is always a good thing.
  • Better execution on tablet devices.
We have a couple of customers with air-gapped networks that has proved a challenge to roll this suite into.

We use this software installed on all computers so we can support computers in-house or remotely. We also use the software for external support to help some of our clients. It has been handy to be able to remotely control computers from anywhere so our support can be continued at a high level.
  • Being able to control computers remotely with ease.
  • The little program used to install on PCs makes it easier to obtain simple statistics of a machine.
  • Being able to use command line control PCs through the interface is amazing.
  • Mobile functionality. The app used for support on smart phones is not really properly optimised. It's essentially the web panel squeezed into the app which is not ideal.
  • Not a fan of the bright red writing of the versions of ScreenConnect installed on client machines once the server has been updated. It drives me crazy wanting to quickly update client software to be able to get rid of the red writing. Probably a sneaky way of forcing updates across the board.
  • OS X support is a little strange. Not a fan of having to explain 10 extra steps for OS X users to be able to install the software. I understand that it may not be possible to correct this due to the structure of OS X. However I am very happy that an update for ScreenConnect client allowed proper silent updates of the client rather than a random popup for users to enter the passwords.
Great for IT support. Having the ability to control multiple computers in a simple web interface is amazing. You are able to categorise computers into different labels which helps with sorting machines into different areas. It also has an amazing search function if you are trying to track down a computer in a large list.

The software is used by 2-3 people within the company - usually embedded computers that control instruments are interfaced with the software at remote places to transfer data or resolve issues.
  • Extremely easy installation on the agent end even across operating systems.
  • Fairly simple to use operating interface.
  • Pretty good in terms of data usage during interfacing the remote system. This is especially useful for connections via mobile networks.
  • The price of the software could be lowered.
  • It seems the installation of upgrades of connectwise leads to crashes on user and agent side on Windows 10 machines. This happened a couple of times.
1. Quick check of the settings of a remote user system by sending the installer via link and accessing the computer. Especially cool is the clean uninstall option after the access.

2. Supervision of a remote user who is learning to use the software we provide.

3. Regular checks of the operation of remote devices that are not easily accessible because they're at remote places.

We use ConnectWise Control throughout my company to provide support to our customers. This allows us to rapidly provide remote support to our IT services customers at any time whether we are in our offices or out and about with portable devices such as laptops or Ipads.

We are able to provide support even when customer is not present which is great for out of hours support.

ConnectWise Control allows us to provide excellent support while keeping costs down and response times up. All without any infrastructure investment.
  • Allows any time anywhere support to our customers. We can either perform work for the customer or guide them through their issues.
  • Allows remote operation and transfer of files between us and customer
  • Enables screen recording for internal training and quality assurance
  • Provides auditing of access sessions.
  • As a former LogMeIn user we miss the ability to zoom the screen view up or down smoothly.
  • Screen zoom requires using the horizontal and vertical scroll bars rather than following the cursor. This greatly interferes with day-to-day operations.
Where customers need guidance we can guide / training on our products we can do this in either an active or passive mode . The pointer can indicate to them where they need to focus without dominating the session. They learn better if they do things and we watch / prompt.

Sometimes support of customer requires restarting their machines. ConnectWise can remotely reboot customer machines when customer is not present.

Screen connect has been a valuable customer support tool for our business. We are able to provide remote support for email setup and troubleshooting as well as assisting customers with minor training. We can actually see what customers are doing and help them facilitate the tasks they wish to perform. We have also set up ConnectWise Control for our customers so that they are able to connect with their customers. Its a win-win for everyone!
  • Custom URL to connect and branding. This legitimizes the software and makes clients more trusting of the software.
  • Each session is limited to one time access which gives customers peace of mind.
  • Easy to download and install for customers!
  • When installing on the client's end, a few of the required dialogue boxes appear hidden. Customers who are less tech savvy have a hard time finding these boxes to finish connecting and start the session.
  • You should be able to customize the login which would make it easier to log in without having to look up the username every time.
  • Allow custom logos and contact information for each Administrator to streamline branding.
Screen connect is a great tool to provide customer support as well as the support of other staff members. You could even use screen connect to assist older, less tech savvy family members with their computer issues.

It would be inappropriate to use it on an IOS device because you cannot access those devices (phone, tablet, etc) with this software (I wish!).

[It's] Used across the whole organization; it allows management to access their office computers from home and perform all tasks easily and efficiently. Users can do all functions as if they were at their PC and can transfer files and print remotely to their home office if needed.

ConnectWise Control works smoothly and quickly.
  • Smooth and quick control of your computer with little to no lag
  • Easy to understand controls when using the software
  • Works extremely well even on a phone or tablet
  • Needs better and more detailed instructions on setting up extensions for other functionality

  • Easy to manage web interface.
  • Easy to grant access from and email link.

It's being used on the entire org for help desk support. Also have it as an alternative to a VPN to control servers and other devices when not onsite. The biggest win has been cutting down on commute and friction when trying to help a user with a simple fix.
  • Computer Access to frequently used computers or users who need help often.
  • Sending and receiving files is a breeze, the drag drop feature is magical.
  • Screen Recording and sharing.
  • The meeting software could use some tlc or better understanding to the end users.
  • Better UI for changing settings of the software.

I use ConnectWise Control for client support and group meetings.
  • Fast connectivity to clients.
  • Nice set of tools with remote printing and drag and drop file transfer.
  • Broad support for multi-platform, Windows, Android, Mac.
  • Powerful and highly customizable and configurable.
  • Decent tech support usually available.
  • Screen resolution could be better at times.
  • No group meeting phone number available which requires use of 3rd party system.
  • There is no dashboard showing screen activity on active connections.
  • There is no console that is not browser based.
  • There is a high learning curve to setup, maintenance and upgrading. Although it is a robust product.
  • Remote logins are too many steps.
  • Multi-monitor support could be improved.
  • Tighter integration / search capabilities with Outlook Addressbooks when generating emails.
I use it for remote support of hundreds of PCs and servers, as well as meetings. It is nice to not have to use two different products for remote support and group meetings. Although there are no phone capabilities, at least screen sharing is available.

I manage a bookkeeping group of bookkeepers, accountants and, tax lawyers. We use ConnectWise to remotely connect to our clients' software to review the financials or historical data.

ConnectWise is a cost-efficient and very easy to use software. Once installed on the client's computer, connection is a breeze. The dashboard with all connections are clear, as well as the easy to identify connection availability.

My experience with customer service chat, is that the responders are IT professionals themselves and can pinpoint the issue I've had, getting started.

Customer service from 1 to 5, compared to other software I've used, ConnectWise would be 5 because of the feel that you are dealing with people in North America, with a strong understanding and communication.
  • Customer Service & IT help.
  • Easy connection to remote clients.
  • Lots of add-ons available.
  • The feel that you are being supported by a company that is continuously upgrading the software to make it better.
  • I had one support rep that wasted my time. Each response took about 2 minutes and were not helpful.
  • Better presentation for settings and add-ons.
ConnectWise control is best suited for IT professionals as they understand the technical jargon of the settings and add-ons. It may be less appropriate for non-IT professionals. However, I still prefer it over other leading software for the reasons mentioned earlier.

  • Unattended Host. Easy to install and implement.
  • Screen sharing is simple for our customer to connect.
  • Meetings with multiple people in remote locations are simple.
  • The user interface is intuitive. Little or no training is needed to get started.

As a systems administrator, I use it for remote access to my end users. I also allow my end users access to specific machines they would need remote access to.
  • Remote Access
  • Easy background tools
  • Fast connection to machines
  • Easy to manage backend
  • At this point, I can't think of anything about the software I would change.
From my standpoint, there isn't another option. My previous employer was using the LabTech suite with ScreenConnect, when I started my own business, the price was a huge selling point.

Were I in the business of taking incoming remote sessions for support, I would have to use something else like LogMeIn.

  • Ability to remote control computers at various locations
  • Ability to send files like installs
  • The ability to chat with users through text
  • The ability to wake laptop from sleep mode better

At the moment we use it for remote support when a customer needs immediate help, and as local helpdesk support for our in-house administrators. Currently we only have one seat, as I'm the only one who needs access to all systems. Hopefully soon we'll have a second remote technician and will get a second seat.
  • Relatively easy to connect new clients
  • Very easy to connect again to clients once Access has been installed
  • Cross platform support appears seamless so far.
  • Initial installation of Support could be made easier - some customers have trouble running it, especially on Mac OS X due to it not being from a "trusted developer" (darned Gatekeeper)
  • Perhaps this already exists, but it would be nice to have a way to have a customer or employee have access just to their one computer - perhaps an add-on, though I don't want to have to purchase an entire technician seat per user who I'd like to give direct access to.
It's well-suited for help desk IT situations (one technician managing or helping with many workstations), and for company support where quick connectivity to remote systems is desired. At the moment, I don't see it as appropriate or cost effective where many users each need access just to each of their single systems.

We use ConnnectWise Control / ScreenConnect on all of our client machines for remote desktop access and management. It enables us to address user machines and servers directly without any fuss as well as see configuration and software info using some of the free plug-ins provided.
  • The number one reason we use CWC is due to its ability to stay connected fluidly and quickly. I can hop in/out of a desktop in a second or two, whereas other remote software tends to be slow to connect or loses mouse tracking and clicks.
  • Its support for multiple monitors is also the best I've seen implemented. A triple monitor setup is not an issue. You can view all three in one window, or control click each individual monitor and assign a full size window to each of your monitors.
  • The free plugins available are also a big help. The ability to run commands remotely as well as start/stop services, kill processes, uninstall software, wake machines, chat with the user and record the session is nice, especially since the web interface tends to be quite responsive.
  • Pricing is good even if you are a single technician. You don't pay per machine unless you specifically want to.
  • If CWC integrated with more RMM software other than LabTech it would be great as LabTech is way too expensive and convoluted at this point so we discontinued using it in favor of a simpler and much less expensive option.
  • Though it does support multiple monitors well, it would be nice to have the ability to have it automatically pop each remote monitor out to the local monitors if so desired.
  • Right now it uses email for multifactor authentication, I would rather it use an electronic key that can be stored on cell phone or user desktop.
  • The ability for it to automatically login to a Windows desktop would be a big help as well. It will store a username and password but you must manually send a control-alt-delete and then click a button to have it fill. Tying to something like Lastpass along with an autologin feature would be great.
ConnectWise Control is great when you need to see the desktop to get a handle on a problem.

ConnectWise Control is not great for running remote commands or for scripting. Though it will process commands, you would not want to try and push out software to dozens/hundreds of machines using it.

ConnectWise Control has changed how we support and communicate with our clients, allowing us to provide instant support and allowing us to grow our business. As an outsourced IT provider, ConnectWise Control is a core part of our business of remote support to hundreds of clients servers and desktops. The triggers, extensions and command options are both powerful and flexible and over time we have been able to request features or program our own solutions to incorporate ConnectWise Control to answer out needs. We previously used RAdmin and LogMeIn Rescue, but were frustrated by the difficultly of connections and licensing limitations. Control Unlimited was the answer and was the best decision and purchase we ever made. I still like the name ScreenConnect better as Control has been found intimidating to the end user, but from an IT Host perspective, that is what you get.... Control.
  • Toolbox is invaluable
  • Connections for any device has allowed more freedom as I am not tied to my desk. The iOS client is just as easy to use as a desktop.
  • Command and Command Toolbox allows us to runs scripts and commands without connecting to the client and has opened to door for faster support through Powershell and CMD Commands.
  • The Host Pass is a fantastic way to allow 3rd party support or end users temporary access to a Guest PC and is used frequently.
  • I appreciate the constant updates and improvements. There are about 5+updates a year and each one is better than the last.
  • I am always thinking about that... I will let you know if I think of any.
I can see this being a tool for both very large and small support shops.

It is used primarily for remote diagnostics of CCS clients. Most of our clients are several hours of travel away from our location. We have even ended up using ConnectWise Control for computers within the office rather than walking to the computer or to facilitate comparing vales on one computer monitor verses another. We were unhappy with the product we had used for years, costs kept rising, and when the annual license was coming due, we tested ConnectWise Control and ultimately switched.
  • Copying files (which the previous product would not do).
  • Much more added capability: lower quality for slow connections, screen shots
  • Speed is good, some product we tested over the years had a lag in mouse movement.
  • At this point, we have no suggestions.
It's really well suited to client support!!!!!!

We use it in our support department to help our users with various computer issues.
  • Deployment of files and/or tools
  • Smooth reboot and reconnect; also recovery of dropped sessions
  • ease of use from the end-user perspective; they don't have to be very technical
  • Easier deployment of unattended access
  • Ability to share control with multiple users
  • Add audio to meetings
Providing technical support to end-users is the best application of ConnectWise. Using ConnectWise as a meeting tool is perhaps not as well suited, but could be if audio was added.
