We utilize Cornerstone OnDemand to support all learning across the organization as well as offer training opportunities to an affiliated organization. It assigns training based on need of the staff as well as is used for optional training and registration into larger organization sessions when needed. It solves out need for compliance training assignments and tracking as well as support the administration side and professional development opportunities.
  • Automatic recurring assignments are easy to get that refresher training out without needing to assign it fresh each time.
  • Reporting 2.0 makes it easy to write and share your reports with just selected filters. Making it easy for people receiving it to just change what they need to see.
  • Learning Admin Console makes it easy to peek at what is going on in your portal and open up connected reporting when needed.
  • Success Center is a great resource for getting peer answers to questions and learning about the releases and suggesting changes that should be added to the roadmap.
  • Their Product Support can take a long time to respond and/or give incomplete responses so you have to go back and forth to get the correct response.
  • Certifications exist but are in bad need of an update to make them more user friendly as they are the only way to set an expiration date.
  • Reporting 2.0 can have more latency issues then other parts of the system and it is always when you really need to grab that report.
I think CSOD is great for most organizations it does have a hefty price tag so making sure the robustness is leveraged is important when choosing the correct system for your organization. I appreciate that they have quarterly releases so the product is getting updates often versus some other LMSs when that is less frequent.

As a highly regulated company, we have a significant amount of compliance training that our employees must complete on an annual basis. We also need to have a robust reporting system to track completions and monitor compliance. We have used Cornerstone OnDemand to effectively organize all of our compliance training, including creating dynamic groups based on job roles, hire dates, and management roles. The level of organization the platform provides allows us to easily and effectively assign training to the right groups at the right time.

We also use the platform for onboarding newly hired employees or those who are transferring to a new role. Again, the way we are able to organize the training and the employee groups allows us to quickly and easily assign their onboarding training and have it ready for them on Day 1.

The reporting features give us many options to provide on-demand reporting to management teams to track their new employees' progress in their onboarding training or to monitor timely completion of their required compliance training.

  • Powerful reporting system to track a plethora of data points within the platform (user data, training information, transcript information)
  • Great options to customize the look and feel of your "home page" to best meet your company's needs and goals.
  • Ability to customize the transcript view for learners (i.e. when Completed training will move to their Archived transcript, what to do with Inactive training on transcripts)
  • Creating a new version of a course can be cumbersome when it is a part of multiple curricula and even inactive curricula. We are finding situations where learners are getting a new version of a course assigned on an old curriculum that was deactivated a couple of years ago, causing confusion on reporting.
  • Manually adding members to Communities is a little confusing, as there is no clear indication of what to do to ensure access to all folders & documents within the Community.
  • Certifications can be confusing at first, especially if not utilizing them consistently. We only did one or two and found them to be a little confusing both on the administrative side and the learning side.
I feel Cornerstone OnDemand is a great solution for companies that have a large amount of compliance training that needs to be assigned and closely tracked. The features of dynamic groups (based on specific user criteria) allows you to target very specific audiences. The assignment functionality gives you great flexibility on when the assignment runs and how often, and also provides many options for due dates (static date or dynamic date - x days from hire date, date assigned, etc.). This has allowed us to have a clear and consistent user experience for both our newly hired employees and our seasoned employees.

CSOD OnDemand is deployed across 95% of the company, being used as our main LMS tool. The majority of us are using it to follow the mandatory trainings but there is also an important percentage of users employing the extended solution (meaning all LO types with the ILTss). It is mainly for compliance purposes to follow mandatory and regulatory trainings.

The product academy and the certifications are well designed and well promoted. In terms of documentation, online help, and the user community, it is very well structured and information easy to find. Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) has been a part of our company's success over the last three years and has allowed us to deliver training programs for employees, track employee progress and development, and help to identify high-potential employees. Through CSOD we have been able to create learning pathways for our employees based on their role, starting with the compliancy courses for ann employees and then branching off by each role into our custom-made courses to support them further through their onboarding. CSOD allows us to create curriculums that unlock when an employee has completed the prerequisite and to auto-assign our courses based on the hiring timeline; which are both very useful aspects to help our learning paths be a success.

  • Options to add on quality courses created by CornerStone directly to blend the training with your own.
  • Great reporting resources and the ability to send reports and pull dashboards to be on top of course relevance and completion.
  • Overall the system takes time to become an expert in.
  • Employees need training on how to use the platform as there are a lot of "clicks" to accomplish what they want in the interface (for example, withdrawing from a training).
  • When the platform is not working properly, it requires a lot of time to have support from CSOD.
Overall my score would be higher if we were able to get the support we need WHEN we need it. When things work well, the platform is nice to use and has a number of options for my team but when things do not work properly, it causes a lot of backend work and causes a heavy administrative role on our part to make up for where CSOD lacks. To really benefit from the platform, you need an expert on your team to help you navigate the platform and use it to its full potential. I highly recommend having a member of your team complete the CSOD training courses.

We transitioned to Cornerstone Learning 2 years ago to consolidate all of our Enterprise HR systems onto one platform. This consolidation allowed our business to decentralize some of the administrative functions, and streamline reporting to a single system.

We use Cornerstone to deliver compliance, leadership, role specific, and professional development courses.

We serve over 14 thousand coworkers globally, including the US. UK, Canada, and India.

We use the Learning Module, which is a very advanced tool. This allows us to be compliant in a highly regulated environment as well as deliver development training in a contemporary setup.
  • Great visibility of the history of trainings
  • Vast reporting tool
  • High security
  • More than one solution to a lot of queries
  • On the job training is rather a limited option
  • Emails should be much easier to setup and also be more flexible (e.g., vary depending on the provider or location)
  • Social Learning aspect; hope it will change with EdCast
  • More advanced integrations with tools like Teams or Zoom
If you need a robust tool to manage learning in a big company, then this is your tool. It can be applied to various businesses, but it works extremely well for those who are compliance-dependent.

If you need more flexibility and care more about user experience than having a 100% accurate record, then maybe Cornerstone OnDemand is not (yet) that fancy tool that you'd be looking at.

Thanks to CSOD WE are able to manage performance review, mid-year, and annual review. We also manage objectives and development plans. The tool is very user-friendly and helpful. The LMS module supports us on the change management part. WE are able to assign specific e-learning to many worldwide department. The LMS has been very usefull during the Covid phase

Cornerstone will help you first to build your own talent management suite with a strong CORE HR and other modules as Performance module, Succession module, compensation module, competencies management, succession plan, business-critical roles. We use Cornerstone across the entire organization. Initially it replaced an existing LMS (Moodle at the time), since then we have taken on Recruiting, Performance, Succession, and Certifications. We manage / offer both required training as dictated by outside certifying agencies and compliance regulation as well as but content and offer ILT to support of HCM Developments efforts. WE use CSOD to align Dept. and Indi goals around central Corporate goals, as well as launching the fist full company wide review of talent as a succession analysis task.

  • Give employees what they want from curated access to the educational components needed for them to get ahead.
  • Customizable workflows for recruiting and Succession tasks that allow for just about any configuration you can dream up...and use as many as you need by division or department all while still centralizing reporting on global metrics used.
  • Platform Updates, Roadmap, Launch prep - CSOD is the best an getting you what you need to make sure you staying up to day and new updates are easily handled. They are GREAT at this.
  • Peer support for admin NEtworks
  • Direct Client Support have ebbed and flowed over the years. A system of support focused on what the client wants for an experience rather than what CSOD want to deliver would be nice for permanent state of support.
  • Different areas of the platform are developed at different rated, and not all areas are up to the same GUI. From an admin perspective having to navigate between multiple screen GUIs and navigate around obsolete but "still in use by some customers" features can be difficult to know if you should be using a feature or if its on its way out.
  • Permissions / Security Roles - This is very complicated part of the system that needs some better recommendations and default settings with the ability to add templated security roles to the platform by the admin at any time. Pushed by CSOD. I would like to see a library of Security roles like LO, managed the same way.
I separate HR functions into what I call Front of the house and Back of the house. Back of the house is Payroll, Timekeeping, Benefits, Legal Documentation. Everything else in Front of the house. CSOD is the best at everything front of the house. IF it has to do with a persons employment status/relationship with the employer as an entity = Back of the house. If it has anything to do with Employee performance, induction, culture fit, intrinsic motivation, goals desires, drive, potential = you buy CSOD.

We use Cornerstone Learning across our entire organization. We use it to implement training initiatives for things like safety, sales, leadership, and compliance. With 18,000 + employees, it is important for us to be able to track each individual's learning progress, and the Cornerstone LMS helps us with this business problem.
  • User friendly and attractive website design.
  • It offers the ability to do online training, or also track face to face, on the job training.
  • It's continuously improving with new features to keep up with the growing demand for online learning.
  • Rather simple admin interface.
  • Some things are too intricate to set up. Emails, for example, are very time-intensive when you are trying to set up 20 reminder emails for training, and you have to do each one individually, instead of copying and pasting.
  • Missing functionality of being able to merge employee files, and include any documents you attached in one of the files. This is a big hardship for us.
  • I wish users could assign training using a checklist type page. Many people want to be able to assign things in bulk.
We are creating content like crazy and it's so nice to have a place where we can publish all videos and trainings with ease. People can look for what they need or what they want to assign with ease. Tracking and reporting analytics are also great and they are making great strides with their new Reporting 2.0 functionality. You cannot track to make sure videos are watched to the very end, which I feel would be helpful, especially compliance wise.

We have tried and failed to use other platforms. Cornerstone has been a success! We love that they listen to users' feedback and are constantly innovating for the future of work. The LMS is easy to use and helps support our employees growth and development. There are endless sources of content which Cornerstone connects us with and our employees love. On the admin side the reporting capabilities is a great tool. We look forward to the future together.

Reporting 2.0 is relatively easy to use and provides insight into development. We love playlist on leaning - although we would love to see more reporting ability on that side.

Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) is used across the whole organization for employees and contractors alike. It is used for compliance training, safety training, some on the job training, and performance reviews. We are currently working to expand the training catalog in order to leverage CSOD for career improvement, in conjunction with a career framework that is being created for the whole organization
  • Assigning Training - easy to use, customizable assignment process
  • The end user interface is intuitive and easy to use
  • Documentation/help resources for administrators is very good
  • The Performance module lags behind Learning in terms of new features and ease of use
  • Learner Home is great but not a true LXP, which is what many companies are moving toward. Things like the lack of xAPI reporting within the general reporting function are a big limitation.
  • The system is intuitive for end users but not always for administrators. Things like Group administration are not very flexible and can be cumbersome.
  • Clients should be able to report on basically any field in the system. Things like instructor reporting, reporting on group criteria, security role reporting are veryy limited and make auditing and governance difficult.
  • Well suited for mid-sized to larger companies - may be expensive for small companies
  • Companies with a heavy need for computer-based training (compliance or otherwise) and basic automation

We are a retail grocery organization with 80% undesked, frontline workers. 20% of our employees support with distribution and supply chain, technology and merchandising. There is a vast array of quality assurance, food safety, and sustainably sourcing experts who support the excellence of our products in our stores. Our Cornerstone content ranges from new member onboarding, operations, product management and leadership topics to program management and microsoft tools.
  • Express Class allows rapid course tracking in batch, available for mobile.
  • Security is complicated but manageable to provide a variety of permissions to different user sets.
  • System Preferences provide tremendous customization options for every organization's particular instance.
  • On the Job Training allows for training in the flow of work.
  • Learner App for mobile does not allow every training type yet.
  • Certification training type is clunky.
  • Assessments are outdated but the new beta for the test platform is awesome.
Cornerstone is well suited as an LMS for compliance, however it is also rapidly developing LXP type features such as playlists and suggested learning AI for learner home carousels that will provide the user more and more with the ability to shape their own learning experience. It all depends how the org configures their portal as the potential to enable these LXP features is entirely up to the company administratively.

Cornerstone OnDemand is used in HR but all employees access it for Performance Management. I use it solely for Recruiting and Hiring Managers also use the recruiting feature.
  • Sorry, [I feel] I honestly can't find something they do "particularly well".
  • All of their recruiting features are "hard to use" - the steps to follow are cumbersome, clunky, frustrating...beginning with setting up processes, to using the features, to providing feedback.
  • [I feel like it is] missing functionality: there's a lot to list, but let me start off with a few: cannot sort candidates alphabetically; cannot automatically allow managers access to "manage candidate" view; cannot integrate emails with Outlook; cannot adjust offer letter template to match the flow for data entry; cannot just search for open reqs without manually adjusting date range; cannot run "standard" recruiting reports to capture YTD open reqs, closed reqs with names of candidates who filled roles with their start dates; cannot easily run a report that shows candidates by demographics by interview funnel...
  • [I feel that] the MOST frustrating aspect of Cornerstone OnDemand is the process to address problems. As a user, I cannot just call a help desk, I must either work through my administrator OR sign up for a weekly one hour session, but ONLY IF, you first demonstrate that you a) have taken training or b) have used the help feature. THEN you log in and are placed in a queue, where you can see / hear each and every problem that other clients have AND they can hear yours. You are allowed to ask ONE question, and then you are returned to the queue to wait again. When you are given an answer, links are dropped in the chat, but without clear instructions on how to proceed. So [I feel] EVERY SINGLE ISSUE takes so long to resolve.
It seems to me that Cornerstone OnDemand is suited for large bureaucracies that have not been exposed to current technology, so they don't know how many features are lacking or how far behind they are with their user interface.

I'm not sure I can add more, but [I feel like] Cornerstone OnDemand [is] a system that has been cobbled together badly, so every single change requires an abundance of steps and "touches" to different parts of the system. I wish you allowed me to rate them "0".

As the Cornerstone Systems, Learning and Performance administrator, I have been able to provide a wide variety of both learning and performance solutions to our organisation.

In the performance space we have created Observation Checklists to assess technical competencies, and also for Quarterly Performance Reviews using role-related competencies. Managers love the structured format and the ability to add observation notes on an ongoing basis.

In a nutshell, Cornerstone has enabled us to grow and develop our people at the same time as fulfilling management reporting and audit requirements!

  • The ability to easily track the assignment and completions of all the tasks, and the ability to produce real-time reports has revolutionised our training and performance management areas. It is now a simple and easy process to provide reports for auditors and for management reporting. This has enhanced manager’s ability to keep track of their team’s progress.
  • In the learning space, we have created in-house training, uploaded SCORM files from external providers to create online courses and created materials which link to external training websites. All the training assignment and completion is easily tracked and reported on. The users find the access through Cornerstone easy to use.
  • It would be great if the Performance module had the same reporting features as the Learning Module. I find I have to design my own reports using Reporting 2.0, whereas I just use the Standard Reports in Learning, as they have everything I need.
  • Again, it would be nice if assigning the Performance Tasks had something like the Learning Assignment Tool where you can easily assign and track assignments.
  • I find the Custom Reports difficult to create and the on-line help is not very helpful in this area!

Cornerstone OnDemand is a great product to use for learning. The specific way I use the product at this time is to deliver, track, and document all the compliance training that is provided to each employee. The new Reporting 2.0 tool has an amazing functionality called Exception Reporting. This allows you to ensure that all persons required to take training have in fact been assigned the training. This is extremely helpful to ensure that no employee is missed and everyone meets their annual training requirements. Additionally, Cornerstone has an amazing group of individuals that are available when you have a question. There are multiple ways to get assistance, from the online Help Center to over-the-phone Office Hours to topic-specific training with their trainers. I highly recommend using Cornerstone OnDemand as your next LMS.

In my role, the Reporting 2.0 functionality of Cornerstone OnDemand has been a great improvement in the way reports are run and records are able to be kept. To be able to get reporting down to such a granular level has been such a help. It's also great to be able to share the reports with other individuals so they can run the reports themselves when they need it and don't have to wait for you!

We use Cornerstone OnDemand as our enterprise-wide employee training LMS. This addressed our desire to streamline the number of sites and applications our employees needed to use to complete training. The biggest assistance having an enterprise-wide solution provides is the ease of pushing out and tracking training for our very large employee base.
  • Permissions - Almost everything within the tool is permissionable, which allows us to show only needed pieces to employees.
  • Releases - The quarterly release cycle is communicated very well with enough supporting documentation to gain knowledge of what is happening and prepare your org prior to upgrades.
  • Flexibility - The system is very flexible to meet many needs of a diverse organization. There are built-in pieces that can be adapted to fit a need and fill gaps.
  • Groups - You have the ability to create tailored groups of people for use across the system but the groups interface is very cumbersome to use.
  • Pulling information from System - there are some gaps with information you can pull back from the system overall. This includes reporting on some information such as group criteria and permissions/roles applied to users. To get this information you have to do a project/work order which takes time and money.
  • Administrator Functions Menus - The menus are deep and hard to navigate because the placement of items does not always seem consistent.
Cornerstone OnDemand is well suited for having a single or almost-single source of training for a very large organization. The ease of putting a course into the system and making it available across the enterprise or pushing it out as an assignment with a due date is great. It also handles the ability to push out large amounts of training to users through assignments pretty well, although sometimes it does take a while to process.

Cornerstone OnDemand is being used org-wide at our company. Cornerstone has been able to address many business needs such as: managing our overall compliance training program, ILT and (more recently) virtual ILT or vILT for many of our business partners such as Recruiting and Product training, learning content curation and beginning stages of self-interest in professional development.
  • Access to a huge community of training resources training webinars and social communities. Cornerstone does a great job with providing administrators with the tools and people to get connected on utilizing the product.
  • Ability to load or upload files of data. I used Cornerstone with a smaller company and now I'm with a company with a larger employee group. Cornerstone's ability to load certain data for specific features saves administrators time and effort when carrying out tasks and projects.
  • Access to permissions and constraints. This allows us to either centralize or de-centralize tasks to our organization partners based on business needs.
  • Cornerstone's available integrations in the Edge Marketplace also is becoming extremely helpful. With so many applications within a business, we're looking to have a "hub" where our employees can have a one-stop shop for learning.
  • When someone gets onboarded as an administrator, it is really daunting to learn the system and the resources available. Personally, I think being able to connect with one person to show me the ropes (sort of a like a buddy system upon hire) is helpful.
  • I remember Cornerstone appointing a CSM to every client before the model changed. I understand having the new system of requesting a CSM allows for CSMs with different expertise and knowledge to step in, but the quarterly check-ins were helpful to understand upcoming releases and a knowledgeable person who truly understands the business' needs and wants.
  • Improved communications on target fix dates for known issues. Being left in the dark without much information is hard to communicate back to the business.
Cornerstone is well suited for when company's need a robust LMS that is scalable and user-friendly. I only use it for Learning, but the features available to us as administrators allows us to tailor the user experience and curate a budding learning culture with simple workflows and processes. The community is large and teeming with clients who are using it on so many different scales, and who are willing to help with sharing best practices and tips. Where I think Cornerstone can be less appropriate is the daunting counts of available features - keep your business needs in mind and don't feel overwhelmed with all it has to offer. Start small and expand as your business evolves.

CSOD is being used for the entire Placer County employee organization. We use it for our compliance training, ILT management, eLearning content library, and is the data system of record. The CSOD system has an API integration with our HR system, Workday. Additionally we have several large departments that use the system heavily to track very specific qualifications and certifications as well as provide training to our client base that is required by contracts held with the State of California.
  • SSO ease of access for employees is awesome, in particular with a small team to manage it.
  • Securities are great so that we can have Department Administrators be the super admin for their specific department training.
  • We were able to brand it and make it look personalized to our County.
  • Use of email administration to set up reminders and also notifications has alleviated a huge manual workload issue.
  • Robust system and really required dedicated staff time to implement and launch. It would have been helpful to know this at the get go.
  • Integration with MS Teams would really help our organization.
  • Focused training with a live person at the beginning of implementation.
I really love the functionality, security, and the ability to use the system in a way that fits our needs. Our Sheriff Office is using Observation Checklist and OJT to manage rifle qualifications. The Calendar is awesome and we use it constantly and got great feedback from employees love to see the offerings at a glance.

Our eLearning created through Storyline looks great and is easy to upload SCORM to the system and "curate" for the learner with appropriate.

Synchrony uses Cornerstone across the whole organization. As a financial organization this provides compliance training to all employees as well as functional courses for specific roles, as well as being able to schedule and track leadership training
  • User experience.
  • Admin tools are quick and easy to use.
  • Platform works to promote learning strategies.
  • Finding some compatibility issues with IE that tech team is unable to explain or help with.
  • Exam functionality is not sophisticated.
  • Acknowledgement courses have too many steps for users - could be streamlined.
In meeting with different LMS vendors Cornerstone continues to meet the needs for the company for users as well as admins.

We use Cornerstone OnDemand company-wide at UKG (formally Kronos). It's used for compliance training by our global HR and IT teams, company-wide training, down to team/department training. The system is leveraged to track progress on training and compliance and add in annual goals. We also use the system to provide soft skills training and development for our teams.
  • Robust admin capabilities.
  • Ease of use both administratively and for our end-users.
  • Reversioning with reporting - it's a bit clunky to have agile-type training where we expect learners to go through training more than once. Reporting becomes a lot more manual in these scenarios.
  • Reporting is tricky - there's a learning curve to understand how to get the right information. I know work is being done in reporting 2.0 but I would love to see more template reports for common reports your customers use.
I really like the usability with Cornerstone compared to other LMS's I've used. I think the system is a little behind on looks/modernization. Also, support seems to take a while to troubleshoot issues sometimes. Otherwise, I've enjoyed using this system.

We use Cornerstone OnDemand as our training documentation system of record for our entire organization, and as a part of our larger Quality System. We also use it to serve out continuing education programs to staff working for our hospital customers.
  • Love the flexibility in configuration.
  • Great audit trail.

  • Some of the feature development feels isolated from other parts of the system.
  • In can take a while for client suggestions to make it onto the improvement roadmap.
Great for compliance training as well as personal development training. Can be difficult for one Administrator to manage by themselves for a large organization. We have 2 full-time Admins and 2 part-time Admins for an organization of 5,000+ internal users and 500 external users. We've also created custom security roles to allow some administrative functions to be done by staff outside the Admin department to ease the administrative burden. Great that Cornerstone has that flexibility.

We use Cornerstone OnDemand for our Performance Management System and Learning Management System, as well as Content Anytime to enrich our educational opportunities for employees. Performance Check-Ins supports our rating-less continuous performance feedback process, and allows employees and managers a simple way to stay on track and connected with each other in achieving goals and progress. The LMS and Content Anytime allows us to support the high expectations for our continuous learning environment in developing strong, savvy, emotionally and culturally intelligent employees. This keeps our organization innovative, progressive, and best able to serve our mission and the people we serve. The better we are, the more we can help.

  • It's hard to get real help (a live body) on the system.
CSOD is highly customizable and robust making it a great platform for accomplishing complex needs for performance, learning, and reporting on all of it. However, customization capability and robust also makes it complex and will require full time employees to be dedicated to building and maintaining the system, or hiring a technology/programming "partner" to fulfill that role in addition to a part time employee in-house. This does double the cost of the system, however, still seems to be competitive with other platforms.

We use it across our entire organization in all departments. I work within the Learning platform, however, we also utilize the Recruiting and Performance platforms as well. Within Learning, we heavily rely on the system to push compliance training and others alike. Additionally, we have created hundreds of in-house training which are included in our new hire training.

As I have mentioned before, the LMS platform has allowed us to load out in-house training and customize our own platform to meet the needs of our organization. We also host numerous ILT events and sessions for internal continuing education, so having those features available all in one place makes it a valuable tool for the organization.

At our organization Cornerstone is used as a global user learning tool. Training objects are made available to users based on their location and functional role within the organization. Both compliance and development training is managed in this single instance of the Learning system. Base on the users metadata it is incredibly flexible and easy to tailor the user experience navigating and making content accessible.

For the connected users (front office, users with email) the system works great and is very manageable. For the disconnected user (like hourly users on the production line) there is not a clear, simple solution to manage training completions.
