It is being used by the whole organization in many workflows and internal procedures. From hr we try to launch all new projects within the cornerstone would be the employee portal.
  • Easy Learning
  • Good recruiting processes
  • Internal evaluations easier
  • Maybe recruiting module has many parts not integrated between them
  • I would like to delete some processes or objects now I can't
  • Maybe more look and feel possibilities
It's 360 HR software and you can launch many different projects in the same app. Learning scenarios are the best option in Cornerstone OnDemand.

customer service, general digital skills, patience and a love for what he/she does
  • training platform (and reporting)
  • recruiting portals
  • develop people (evaluations, goals, competencies...)
  • for onboarding. that was not in out roadmap initially
  • to have diferent recruiting portals
  • to make new goals policies for the company
  • more training on the way
  • new ways of recruiting
  • develop evaluations with diferent approvers and workflows...
overall i am happy with the tool and would choose it again if i were looking for it again. complete, continually developing and with good support and customer service.
Yes
Before Cornerstone we work with Talentia HCM and it was very strong to change anything and we cant use the information for reports and to get value.

we change our processes at the cornerstone implementation to make easier. Some times companies have very difficult workflows and the change of the HR tool force to make them easier as us.
maybe to have more time between modules implementation would be better for testing all procedures. Its important to have very clear the workflows before start and have consense between all the parts becouse if you want to change something after implementing that could be a little difficult. But these are only our tips.
  • Third-party professional services
INTEGRA SOLUCIONES. ( https://integra-soluciones.net/en/ )
Yes
First of all we separate each module in this order: HR / LMS / RECRUITING / PERFOMANCE / SUCESSION... then for each module we made a Discovery Session, then the implementation company presented a proposal, and then we make changes and details of that module. We repeat this process with all modules. for us it was a good way to do it.
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
In this case I recommend that the adaptation be fast because if we make the process slow we will have the same problems and the slowness of the change is added. We must organize ourselves well and have early adopters and partners to help teach how to adapt to change but all within a short period of time.
  • internal training
  • internal processes adaptation
  • configuration documentation
  • Online training
  • in-person training
  • no training
we use also to admin all our training in person events and sessions. Its easy to admin this kind of trainings and automatize some processes we have. Also de user experience and the integration with other systems helps to the employees to use more. All modules integrated oriented to develop people is the principal reason to have CSOD. The training administration is very complete and allows to automate many processes.
very complete tool thinking at the user side and at the admin side. Continuosly launching new features in their roadmap always adapting to the companies needs. I think is the best module of the software. Maybe i will make some changes at the admin or reporting part but time by time. cornerstone's own authoring tool is a bit simple but the platform allows publishing courses created with other tools and its tracking is fully integrated.
I think it is necessary to have an initial training and to test the processes several times before creating them in real. Perhaps at the beginning it may seem a little complicated but with the accompaniment of someone expert in a short time you can be autonomous. I recommend this initial training and the creation of real cases. The configuration part is very important and automations / communications must be taken into account from the beginning.
I would like to have more deep administration options and to be more flexible. We must adapt our processes to Cornerstone OnDemand and I would like to Cornerstone OnDemand more adaptable to us.
the configuration of the application is known when you have been working with it for some time, so it is important to configure it with someone who knows the preferences of Cornerstone to know the possibilities it has before starting to configure it without knowing it.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
I have advanced technical knowledge so I have been able to change certain aspects myself and help other clients to do so.
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
also I have advanced technical knowledge so I have been able to change certain aspects myself and help other clients to do so.
I am working with the integration with external reporting systems such as PowerBI to be able to exploit all the information. I have also implemented Google Analytics and little by little I am getting very useful extra information.
A little show to solve the case but always I get a solution
No
Yes
Yes it would be solved but was an important bug
They usually solve all my cases. Sometimes I have had to resort to my gps to escalate the problem or I have had to find the solution myself but there is always someone in support willing to help you and they know the product inside out.
for uses in general is easy to use, its not too much necessary to give support continuosly. But at the configuration and administration there is a little difficult to manage some things, there are lots of options and its important to have a global admin vision when you make any change or implement a new process.
  • learning portal
  • onboarding workflows
  • development tasks
  • configure workflows (recruiting, develop...)
  • competencies bank and models
  • some changes in tasks launched are difficult to change
Yes
for learning there are an app called LEARN / CORNERSTONE LEARN very easy to use. I would like to have an integral app with the rest of modules but maybe in future.
Cornerstone has many options that it separates into companies, areas and departments... even at the job level. This is a very useful feature to deploy an application with different options according to profile.
I haven't really had any major availability problems. The service is practically impeccable but it is true that at times, due to server and latency problems, the application has been slower. But these have been specific issues that have resolved themselves.
As mentioned in the previous point, the application is fast in general. There are many aspects in the companies that can influence this speed: firewall, antivirus... etc. and the servers can have problems. But in general everything works at a sufficient speed. There are also daily stability reports that show us the status of the servers in case we notice any problems.
Every day they have more and more implementations through their marketplace and make the process easier without having to do major developments.
  • AZURE
  • Linkedin
Azure SSO was important to us and it was a very simple process with a 30 minute online meeting and the integration with Linkedin although not as complete as we would like is very quick.
  • PowerBI
  • HR Access (Sopra Steria)
In the case of PowerBI there are no official connectors to connect with Cornerstone but it is true that through APIs something could be done although it is complicated. In the case of HR Access integration is a project where the two applications must hang their data on an intermediate server. Something difficult and expensive to implement at the moment.
  • Single Signon
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
  • AppExchange or similar marketplace
no for us
It is very useful and beneficial for clients that the integrations they make with other companies are posted in the Marketplace and make Cornerstone has greater potential. It is a benefit for clients to have this and that new ones are appearing every day. The reporting part if I would like to not need a Reporting API and that as clients we could connect directly with tools like PowerBI to the database. It is something to consider.
The treatment of customers at Cornerstone is very special. Few companies follow up so closely and continuously on the progress and expectations of companies. There are many avenues of contact, and it is appreciated that the vendor is vigilant in this way.
We deal directly with Cornerstone. The integration was with another company but the purchase was directly with Cornerstone's salesperson who made it very easy for us.
As I have said before, I have no doubt that the services of the Cornerstone sales people were very good. In particular, our salesperson spent a lot of time in contact with us to make the process go smoothly. Perhaps being a large company in some cases the times were slowed down but it is something normal to take into account.
Mainly the final price and the contract period were the two terms to be negotiated.
It is important to be familiar with the terms and annual increases in licenses and other aspects of the contract. I recommend analyzing this from the beginning and the permanence is relevant because Cornerstone updates its modules and brings out new features that may allow you to leave a module to acquire another.
transparency and mutual adaptation. Not all HR applications meet all expectations and we have to look for the ones that best fit our processes and have integrated modules. That versus price and permanence are details to take into account.
Yes
is a transparent process because it is a cloud-based application that provides quarterly updates to all customers.
  • we do not spend time
  • transparent process
  • new funcionalities each quarter
  • adaptations to current events
  • news
  • customer suggestions implement
Yes
because in this application all customers always move to new versions automatically and we don't want to stay old.

We use Cornerstone across the entire organization. Initially it replaced an existing LMS (Moodle at the time), since then we have taken on Recruiting, Performance, Succession, and Certifications. We manage / offer both required training as dictated by outside certifying agencies and compliance regulation as well as but content and offer ILT to support of HCM Developments efforts. WE use CSOD to align Dept. and Indi goals around central Corporate goals, as well as launching the fist full company wide review of talent as a succession analysis task.
  • Creating a portal for many HCM functions that can be customized to look and feel like your particular org./org culture.
  • Alignment of goals and work effort.
  • Give employees what they want from curated access to the educational components needed for them to get ahead.
  • Customizable workflows for recruiting and Succession tasks that allow for just about any configuration you can dream up...and use as many as you need by division or department all while still centralizing reporting on global metrics used.
  • Platform Updates, Roadmap, Launch prep - CSOD is the best an getting you what you need to make sure you staying up to day and new updates are easily handled. They are GREAT at this.
  • Peer support for admin NEtworks
  • Direct Client Support have ebbed and flowed over the years. A system of support focused on what the client wants for an experience rather than what CSOD want to deliver would be nice for permanent state of support.
  • Different areas of the platform are developed at different rated, and not all areas are up to the same GUI. From an admin perspective having to navigate between multiple screen GUIs and navigate around obsolete but "still in use by some customers" features can be difficult to know if you should be using a feature or if its on its way out.
  • Permissions / Security Roles - This is very complicated part of the system that needs some better recommendations and default settings with the ability to add templated security roles to the platform by the admin at any time. Pushed by CSOD. I would like to see a library of Security roles like LO, managed the same way.
I separate HR functions into what I call Front of the house and Back of the house. Back of the house is Payroll, Timekeeping, Benefits, Legal Documentation. Everything else in Front of the house. CSOD is the best at everything front of the house. IF it has to do with a persons employment status/relationship with the employer as an entity = Back of the house. If it has anything to do with Employee performance, induction, culture fit, intrinsic motivation, goals desires, drive, potential = you buy CSOD.

  • Increased applications by upgrading potential employer interface. OBTAINED. Exceeded desired increase by 140%.
  • Increased participation in learning events / online learning. OBTAINED exceeded initial goal @24 months by 200%.
  • Improved ILT classroom management by decreasing "no shows" at registered events. OBTAINED. Pre CSOD rate ave. 3.3 "no shows" / ILT - dropped to below 1.
CSOD has the easiest to use user interface. If employees do not like to use it it will not be as affective as a tool to manage talent. All modules of CSOD are developed to the same level, in all other platforms I found there was a lacking in one of the areas of the platform that I did not want to have to live with to get the good one.
Just right. Its a little complex but that comes with the territory. I would never say too complex. May be complex for some, but you are rewarded with the kind of flexibility that will make the portal meaningful to users...and that is the key to success. People have to want to use it.

It is the entire EE population. Approx. 350 Production employees. 50 Transportation Employees. 500 Office and or Management Employees. We have approx. 90% unique log in rate monthly. We launched the platform as a portal for information as well as training and this helped drive adoption. We also have SSO which breaks down barriers for access.

Initially we had 1 System Admin. This person handled all implementation and config. over the years we have created admins for each functional area. I would have a better understanding of internal processes I want to leverage the tool for to look for areas of incongruency.
There are probably easier platforms, but you will trade configurability. Its like the difference between Iphone and Android. iphone is easy ........as long as you want to do what it allows you to. and thats all you get.

Change management was minimal
We aligned need and finale vision and leveraged local management for user adoption. We generated user need for education and then provided easy access to end users for training and support.
  • Internal Processes were not well defined to understand what config would look like.
  • Time - we slowed down on purpose so we took 9 months. but had planned 4 months.
  • Systems thinking capablility in stakeholders
Our consultants took time to understand who we were and remined flexible to customize the consulting approach.
  • Online training
This is not applicable.
The client success center and CSOD created Curriculum allowed me to build capability within my internal team where needed.
Have current processes pre identified and them perform gap analysis, and interview stakeholders based on what they want from the system not what it does.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
Very easy, there is a large amount of platform interface customizations available to admins.
No - we have not done any custom code

I know it can be expensive but I preferred having a 1:1 relationship with support. Vs 1:Many.
No. I think I pay enough for the product. I think it should come with premium support because it is a premium product. and Support is part of that package.
Yes
Super fast. Done well, and actually wrapped up into a global update. This has been a great experience. Bugs are treated quickly which is good and I like. Issues with things that are more specific to individual portals make take longer.
After a quarterly update to the recruiting platform, there was an issue with connections of information between screens. Because we were just launching with the product we were using only the newest workflows that came with the update, while I suspect others had not transitioned yet. I sent the question to central support and followed up immediately with a call as I was training recruiters on the new platform.

Central support was able to log the problem, find me a workaround on the phone, and I was able to continue the training for launch. In the next update to the platform globally, the problem was fixed. Literally from my team's mouth to a change globally with in 1 week. CSOD take their client feedback extremely seriously.
I have had no problem scaling the platform across various areas of the business.
Sees to be having swimlane downtime more often in the recent years.
Reporting 2.0 often takes a long time compared to custom reports. Error pages for loading is occurring more often than expected. May be internet connection speed on our end.

There have been a lot of changes to the CSOD client relationship management strategy, it has forced me at times to feel disconnected.

We are currently using Cornerstone OnDemand as the LMS for our whole organization. We recently implemented it and just went live on 11/30/15. It is our intention to have all learning related activities run through the LMS, to guarantee a positive end-user experience. We implemented Cornerstone to replace the SumTotal LMS we were previously using.
  • Cornerstone allowed us to create a custom Welcome Page, where we could bring in our branding, images and icons. This allowed us to have the same look and feel as other business applications.
  • The curriculum player functionality is very smooth. The % complete display helps users track their progress for a curriculum assignment - instead of just check marks for each module/course completed.
  • The in-tool reporting functionality provides us with current data, when it's needed. We previously had our learning data stored in a data warehouse, which refreshed nightly. We currently refresh in Cornerstone OnDemand every 6 hours, which allows us to report on items that happened earlier in the day.
  • Cornerstone OnDemand is highly configurable. As the system administrator, having the ability to drag and drop fields to change the dynamic of certain pages was so easy to use.
  • The feature converting email notifications to HTML automatically is perfect for someone who is not an HTML expert. You type it and they convert it. Very nice!
  • We would like the ability to change due dates right on the user's transcript for overdue training. We can change to a future date, but we can not add a date that is in the past. We need to go through the proxy enrollment steps, which takes longer.
  • It would be nice if Dynamic Proxys were editable. If we want to change a one-time training to a recurring training, a whole new proxy needs to be created.
  • We would like more options for the fields that are displayed in the org chart and user profile - currently we can select only between Division and Position.
Cornerstone takes the time to understand your business needs and connects you with other clients that have similar organizations. They also offer 3-4 updates each year, continuing to improve their product.

  • We were able to implement with Cornerstone OnDemand in a very short timeline, which helped us achieve our overall business goal of becoming a stand-alone company.
  • At go-live we received a lot of positive feedback from our users on the end-user experience. The system was reported as very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Since our previous LMS was looked at as a pain point, so positive experience will bring people into the tool and encouraging on-time completions.
  • We have internal businesses looking to get their training in our Cornerstone OnDemand LMS, as they are happy with the experience they are having as a user. This will help us achieve our goal of having one system for all learning at our organization.
We chose Cornerstone over SumTotal LMS because of the flexibility they offered with their system. It was not the easiest migration, as a lot of choices that were made in SumTotal LMS were made based on the lack of options available, so migrated over courses and content was a challenge. One of the biggest things that drew us to Cornerstone OnDemand was the eagerness to have us as a client. We felt the level of customer service would far exceed what we had experienced with SumTotal LMS.

We have a COE made up of 3 specialists. One LMS Manager and one IT Manager. We do have some support from other parts of the IT team, as well as the data warehouse and Workday teams.
  • Tracking compliance requirements
  • New hire orientation for our call centers
  • Tracking and registering leadership training enrollment
  • Reporting to regulators
  • Posting documents and have an acknowledgement embedded in the system to confirm completions.
  • Informal feedback. We’ve recently implemented this new module to link feedback to our core skills.
  • We plan to implement the Virtual Training component using WebEx.
  • Tracking sensitive acknowledgements with an electronic signature and having that completion feed back to an employee record in Workday.
  • Offering a training portal to our clients and suppliers to complete required compliance training.
  • Linking to our external learning providers. All learning in one place.
We recently renewed our contract for another 3 years.
  • Learner Home page was a great up date. It was easy to implement and it has a great interface for our learners.
  • Automatic assignments are fairly easy to launch.
  • Email notifications are not logical or intuitive.
  • We are not able to do some basic admin functions and have to go through CSODs support.
Yes, but I don't use it
The screen layout does not work well with banners on Learner Home, so we do not have it available.
For an LMS, it’s not horrible. They are making improvements with their customers support team, but it still has a long way to go. Also, because it is a cloud solution, there is little flexibility with getting changes made in the system. Even items that are logical and would be a great improvement, it takes a long time, if ever to get these changes put in.

SumTotal. Very negative experience with this vendor. Lack of flexibility and very poor service.

Product usability and ease of implementation. We needed to have the system up are running within 3 months and the ease of integration with Workday was the most important thing.
We have had the opportunity to go through the selection process again, as we just renewed our contract for another 3 years. There are many LMS providers in the learning space, and Cornerstone was able to connect our learning needs with our move to more informal feedback. There are still pieces missing, like the ability to create online content in the tool, but we have found ways to work around this.
  • Vendor implemented
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was a minor issue with the implementation
Communicate deadlines as you near the end. We were in the process of an overall company change, so the LMS change was a small piece of the overall project. Our updates were lost in some of the other communications.
  • Not understanding the challenges between the data we saw in our current LMS and how it would migrate over to Cornerston OnDemand. We required a lot of clean-up.
  • The turn around time of file loads was slower than we expected and needed. We felt like we had to escalate everything to get anyone's attention.
Dig deep on what your current processes are and how they match up to Cornerstone OnDemand functionality. It's not that the Cornerstone OnDemand is bad, it just the amount of work it requires you to do to get your current data to fit into their system.

I feel like they had a script and focused on items that we didn’t have intentions of using.
The online modules are pretty good. You can access them at any time, which we have done. You learn a lot in the beginning, but having the ability to retake short lessons when you are working on those items was very helpful.
No. Some of the functionality is not intuitive. So many features rely on other features. We made some mistakes, that required a lot of rework.
Some configuration settings were easy, others were not logical. A good example are the security roles. Any constraint needs to be added for each permission. If you miss one, the role doesn’t work as expected.
Do not launch your assignments without turning on your reminders. It was recommended that we wait to turn on notifications, and we launched all of our auto assignments. Then to turn on reminders for this training we had to relaunch all of those assignments. Also, certifications are very tricky. The difference between past due and expired is confusing.
Yes - we have customized the interface extensively
We had to engage with another company to get the page created. We ended up moving to the Learner Home and can’t use our custom page now.
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
It was part of the page we are no longer using.

The GPS team is not quick to respond and typically responds after business hours. I get support when I escalate.
When out client success manager was out on leave the back up manager was very knowledgeable and responsive. She seemed to have a better grasp of the needs of our business.

We use Cornerstone across the organization for training purposes. We house all of our course data and completion certificates within the software. This addresses our need to house a large library of courses, events, and instructor lead trainings. It provides easy, user friendly navigation to all employees.
  • User friendly
  • Straightforward interface
  • Easy to learn as an admin
  • Support. We have one or two go to Cornerstone employees who really know their stuff. We often feel disturbed by the phone support making us feel as if we're being rushed off the phone. Often times we're given vague answers with our own problems given back to us as a solution.
  • Features. There are a lot of painfully obvious features that should be available in a database system. The option to mass update files or records will either take you weeks of manpower or them a few days of "paid maintenance". Some features that should be easily doable aren't even there, such as mass updating a field or removing training.
It is well suited for housing a user interface for basic simple small companies. Once you get to 2000+ plus any assignment mistake (duplicating records) could take you months to fix yourself or you could "pay" to have someone cleanup your portal. Seems like something you can do in a few clicks should be a feature not a paid for service.

  • Cornerstone has given us the ability to create diverse reports to flex to all branches of our business.
  • A bug in the system broke our reporting and delayed our deadlines.
Workday has a LMS or LES as they call it (Learning Experience System) just a industry buzz phrase to make you think they're an immersive social learning experience. they were too young to meet our needs Fall of 2017 but they had a lot of promising updates coming down the pipeline. We chose not to implement as the only way to meet our needs would be to use work arounds we'd be trapped in when future updates came. We'r keeping an eye on them for the future.

It meets all of our business needs at the moment. It is the most robust tool for LMS out on the market right now. the automation assigning of training for over 120+ job titles has us rooted and flows our daily training per new hire perfectly
  • Assigning training
  • Setting up groups and auto enrollments for training
  • running reports
  • "out of the box" portal setup has served us PERFECTLY as an intuitive navigation for users
  • Some back end features such as event or ILT setups (only if your company has diverse classes that aren't planned at the beginning of the year)
Yes, but I don't use it
Very user-friendly. I am a "millennial" who's rather tech savvy and understands the basic navigation functions and was able to pick up on this very easily. they've mimicked features of popular websites we use every day to make the admins and users familiar with navigation and completion.

The features, being able to assign training to new hires as they're hired and continue to provide reports on progress has been part of the daily operation for our system.
I'd like to see more hands-on use of features. We got boxed into some workarounds from features that were overhyped in the sales process. This is the nature of the beast. If you're implementing make sure you're shown how processes will work and or be affected by future updates. Don't fall for a sales pitch by someone who isn't a subject matter expert on the systems.

Very personable and patient. Features that I'm sure to them are very simple and repetitive were trained with patience and understanding.
taught the admin of the system everything they needed to know with hands on interactive demos and demonstration.
No. You'll definitely need a crash course or understanding of the terms and way things work. it's very intuitive once you have the foundation though. kind of like if you're taught the rules of baseball you can easily play it once you know. or sometimes like Chess where once you learn you have to be reminded what particular pieces do but still can get it done.
No
There is an option for this but Cornerstone provides several methods for help, there's daily "Office Hours" where you can speak to client success managers who help answer all your questions. Theres a huge robust community for support. there's an on demand number as well as your personal Client Manager for on demand support.
My issues have always been understood and resolved. I don't feel like I'm explaining it to someone who doesn't understand the system. Often times they know the issue and have quick fixes from their experiences.
Yes
Yes. I often am an early adapter to their new releases and often times uncover bugs because i use every nook and cranny of the system. they're quick to respond and often have fixed (in my experience) within the same week.
We needed our course catalog cleaned up. Manually it would have been a huge burden and taken a very long time. I reached out to them and provided them with a list of things we wanted deleted and cleaned up and they did it, after seeking clarity and absolution, within one business day.
It can accomodate any number of users (that you're willing to pay for) and serves as a training archive
I've never felt like i've been left high and dry by Cornerstone. we may be frustrated with some problems but they are always there with us working for solutions
Pages do not load quickly. Often times any action or selection of a box, drop down, check, pretty much ANY Javascript interaction causes the whole entire page to load/reload/start doing something in the background. This makes a nightmare for having to mass edit courses or upload ILT sessions. It's the one of the archaic web designs they use that really bugs me as an admin and makes working in the portal at times intolerable and insufferable.
