Couchbase to the Rescue!

I never found any problem for indexing or when we had multiple data sources or end users. Couchbase was always responsive. Even when we were testing in development mode with thousands concurrent requests, Couchbase was always responsive. Even when we did not remove obsolete data from dev database, the db size got heavy, we had no issues.

Couchbase has high performance. It can handle very high data volume and serves data without any latency. The data schema is flexible and we can save any valid JSON. Also, it supports querying the data and returns the correct results on the data that matches the JSON structure. It can be very easily scaled up and down, based on traffic and performance.

Indexing takes a lot of time to master and it's very error-prone. There are not many tools available to help write indexes as should. Even with indexes fully covered, real big data performance is far from satisfying queries using indexes.

All performance issues we encountered were design issues. Couchbase was not responsible. Couchbase provides all necessary tools to improve performance and resilience, but it is not accessible to every developer. Some features like replication or the defensive need to be handled by the experts.

Need to improve on ram usage. In Kubernetes deployment pods used to die. And respawn has to be done manually. Did not like the allocation of memory for data, index, and analytics separately. Very hard to configure. Can't add more buckets if there is no memory.

I am giving 8 ratings because for a normal web application Couchbase is the best choice but if you have a lot of data and you want to do some analytics so to performing analytics is not easy in Couchbase

The performance in data handling has worked beyond our expectations. It can handle high volumes of data giving our analysis team reliable time in working on the available tasks. The user dashboard shows the indexing graphs on how our organization is doing from different departments. It has a powerful data management system that can control data from multiple sources without making any errors.

Couchbase is [a] distributed database where load balancing across servers is managed based upon the workload circumstances. If the workload is high it expands and when it decreases, servers start shrinking. Asynchronous way of query writing facility for high latency. While creating a new table it is preferable to create an index which is called View Index. Moreover, we also used a memory-optimized index to significantly improve the performance along with applying permutation on data.

Much faster than Microsoft Cosmos DB, faster indexing. Scaling nodes was straightforward and reliability has been excellent. We have millions of vehicles and billions of miles traveled. With hundreds of streaming data points across millions of vehicles, we need speed and reliability, got both with Couchbase. Was also reasonably easy to implement in our DevOps environment.

One of Couchbase’s greatest assets is its performance with large datasets. Properly set up with well-sized clusters, it is also highly reliable and scalable. User management could be better though, and security often feels like an afterthought. Couchbase has improved tremendously since we started using it, so I am sure that these issues will be ironed out.

The data services APIs (i.e. distributed map) performs very well. The N1QL query capability does not perform as well because it was based on a distributed interaction between query service, indexing service, and related data service. Compared to databases like Oracle RAC, N1QL over a large distributed cluster doesn't end up performing as well as a simple SQL query from a relational database. This performance you will see depends on your role. The analytics capability was developed based on a different query engine which is significantly faster over a large data set, so if you stick with an architecture where key-based lookups are used with the OLTP engine, and all N1QL queries are run on a separate analytics cluster, that may be the best combination of performance characteristics.

Performance of the cluster is great even with large number of concurrent users. Also, performance improvements are fairly straight forward with the right index creations. Fast indexing is not a problem if we can through more resources at the cluster. Scaling up and scaling down the cluster is very easy too. Overall managing the cluster using command-line tool or through UI is easy.

The efficiency and results of the projects have increased with the use of Couchbase. It has very good performance compared to the competitors. There are no restrictions on the size or scale of the databases, it handles multiple data sources, and it’s our favorite cloud based database because it’s fast.
