Couchbase works well, but isn't the only option

Couchbase had more features than the other products we evaluated and a more flexible data model. It also has global replication and better performance. Compared to some, it was also easier to deploy, manage, and scale. The global replication, plus the ease of deploying and scaling, ultimately caused us to choose Couchbase.

Couchbase, the right tool for the job.

We looked at several different SQL and NoSQL systems. Most were either too expensive, didn't provide the needed functionality, or were too hard to use with the size of our team. We ultimately went with Couchbase because of its performance, horizontal scalability, and price.

Couchbase's server is more scalable than MongoDB, as MongoDB degrades its performance if the number of users grows. Also, Couchbase allows us to integrate more third-party applications, Couchbase’s query language extends ANSI SQL.

Couchbase as a technical enabler for delocalized and unstructured large-scale systems

Alternatives Considered

Couchbase takes most of the best features of products such as Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Mongo DB, or Realm IO. It by the way might be lacking a good AWS strategy compared to other solutions. Couchbase has a great field for improvements in establishing specific deployment strategies in these new cloud environments.

My favorite database manager

I have used DataStax, but comparatively, I would say Couchbase is more reliable than DataStax, as it is a complete package and consists of every feature in order to satisfy users needs. However, DataStax lacks some of the features. I prefer Couchbase over all other similar product.

The best known alternative, at least in Spain, in nonrelational databases is MongoDB. Couchbase has superior performance in our opinion, so it should become de facto standard.

Alternatives Considered

Couchbase fights in the market for non-relational databases with competitors like MongoDB or Cassandra. Couchbase, in addition to great performance and flexibility, has its N1QL query language. This language is very powerful and intuitive.

We selected CB as it provided the highest performance DB we evaluated while still providing a relatively rich set of additional features at competitive pricing.
