Users have found the product to be a valuable tool for creating or replicating their Dispatch center in any location, providing them with essential phone and internet access for EMS dispatch. They appreciate the convenience and flexibility of having a mobile device that can effectively serve as their command center. In addition, emergency service vehicles rely on the product as a mobile internet device, utilizing it as part of a failover system to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, especially in Chicago's unpredictable weather conditions. The cellular failover solution has proven to be reliable and independent of physical lines, effectively covering all connectivity needs for various locations across the Chicagoland area. Users have praised its ability to provide seamless and consistent connectivity, even in challenging environments.

The product has also been widely used to establish connectivity in various temporary settings. For example, during a campus rebuild, construction crew trailer offices have successfully utilized the product to deliver excellent performance and maintain continuous internet access. Its reliability and performance have been essential for keeping the operations running smoothly. Furthermore, a healthcare provider partnered with an MSP to set up a mobile medical unit and created fully secured mobile workstations for HIPAA compliance using the product. This allows them to ensure privacy and security while providing medical services on-the-go. Lastly, users residing in remote locations with no access to landline internet have found the product to be their lifeline for reliable connectivity. It has enabled business owners and individuals in such areas to stay connected and conduct their work effectively, bridging the gap between remote areas and urban centers.

We utilize these devices in a couple of aspects.
1. They are mobile devices to give us internet access to create or "duplicate" our Dispatch center at basically any location. Provides phone and Internet for access to software applications utilized for EMS dispatch.
2. Mobile internet devices for access in emergency service vehicles.
  • Provide Internet Access.
  • Ability to Control and configure remotely.
  • Dependable cellular coverage and access.
  • Could be more cost effective.
  • I actually like most of what they have for configuration remotely and templates.
  • UI and finding some settings online, could be a but more user friendly.
It has worked great for our emergency vehicles and mobile remote dispatch stations. We did have them at other bases as secondary internet access in the event of failure of our fiber, but I have found that is not as useful as we thought it may have been. I have temporarily disabled cellular on those devices and just did not have the need for it.
  • Provide internet and local network in vehicle.
  • Reliability.
  • Remote configuration and access.
  • Provides necessary 24 / 7 access needed for our industry.
  • IT staff spends much less time, troubleshooting for fixing issues.
  • Reliability.
Cradlepoint Routers has been much easier for configuration and reliability and dependability. I have been using these types of devices for about 17 years, even back to old pinpoint modems. I am in the Emergency Services industry and utilize these for GPS and tracking to internet and cellular coverage for multiple locations. Mobile Wi-Fi hot spots are necessary (multiple) and the Cradlepoint Routers do this all very well and work non-stop.

Provide Wi-Fi and GPS services. Again in the Emergency Services industry and rely on this for multiple applications including patient care, crew safety, and vehicle location. We several years ago transitioned to the Cradlepoint Routers from Sierra Wireless devices that were pretty old. These devices have proven to be much more stable and easier to configure and apply templates to.

I have an IT staff of 3 of us that provide support for these devices in addition to my vendor. They do not take much work or troubleshooting or fixing once initial setup and configuration. I have been very happy with the Cradlepoint Routers. have them set to restart once daily on the overnight as we are a 24/7 service. Very minimal issues with these devices. I would highly recommend them.
  • Internet access.
  • Provide wifi.
  • Multiple SSIDs.
  • Used to create primary in house operations out of house.
  • Flexibly.
  • Mobility.
  • Creating back up.
  • Adding secondary provider.
  • Mobility.
I have been using some type of device like this for a very long time. We have and will maintain the need for this and have no immediate plan to make any change from Cradlepoint Routers. They have been very solid. These devices are a bit pricey, however worth the money as they always work and are reliable and save IT staff time.

Our organization is an MSP that has partnered with a large healthcare provider to stand up a mobile medical unit to assist patients all over the country. We purchased a few of the cradle point devices to install in the units with a full network cabinet, in addition, to building out a full HIPAA secured mobile workstation.
  • Better than other solutions for integration with full network cabinet.
  • Better build quality that others.
  • External antenna connector.
  • Throughput was not great compared to similar solutions with same sim cards.
  • Paid management portal.
  • Overly complicated setup mainly due to the paid management portal.
If redundancy (dual sim slots for failover) and minimal hardware is what you are looking for then the cradle point does a great job and with the option of an external antenna, it adds lots of versatility to the setup. However, the throughput and the management portal really put a damper on our opinion of going with this product again as the throughput was around half of that of other solutions with the same card.
  • Rugged build quality.
  • Failover capability.
  • External antenna.
  • For the price I don't think it effectively "wow'd" the client.
  • Throughput caused our network service to not be fully utilized.
We have used Verizon partners for hotspots as well Inseego and jetpacks Mainly... We decided to take a chance with cradle point as they have 2 sim slots with failover as well as high build quality and external antenna As I have mentioned a few times already we had some issues with performance and with such a steep price tag and paid management portal which we would probably not move forward with these again.

Used for the owner of the company that lives in a remote location with no landline internet.
  • Easy to configure
  • Works with most mobile providers
  • Reliable
  • Needs to support latest mobile devices
  • Would prefer more flexibility with antennas
  • More frequent firmware updates
Great for use when the landline is not an option. Needs to have a strong cellular signal in the area.
  • makes cellular look like landline to our network
  • easy to configure
  • decent speed
  • allows us to have remote offices where internet isnt available.
  • works with our VPN
  • overall reliable
I only used Cradlepoint

Needed connectivity for a construction crew trailer office on our property during a rebuild of a tornado-damaged section of our campus. The CradlePoints worked awesomely!!
  • Provide connections for internet via cellular
  • Manage the traffic well
  • Gives you insight to the usage and traffic patterns
  • The only complaint has to do with the cellular providers not the device
When you need connections and cannot run wire to the location. This solution offers great WiFi connectivity!
  • Provide the connection for the construction office
  • No wires across the construction site
  • No worries about losing the connection because cellular uptime
  • It just did what we needed it to do very well
Did not try any others
