User-Friendly Meeting App!

Rating: 10 out of 10

We use CrowdCompass across the organization for internal meetings to ensure our staff are well connected and have all the tools they need without having to consult paper agendas and other collateral.
  • Customized home screen.
  • Easy customization.
  • Simple notifications.
Cons
  • Graphics are still a bit hard to customize without a design background.
  • Would like to see a Flex build UI with drag and drop features.
  • Toggling between preview and build mode is a little cumbersome.
Great for meetings and events where you drive all content and you know attendees can use the app for multiple events. It’s not as applicable for small events without robust content and/or attendees who have no other use for an app.

I am the administrator for CrowdCompass in our organization. We integrate with Cvent and use it for our flagship conference which is 1,000 people from 85 countries every year. Besides myself, we have a couple of other users from my department and the marketing department to make sure everything is functioning and looks great.
  • It is so user-friendly! The learning curve was not all that steep.
  • I am not incredibly techy, and I have no problem using CrowdCompass whatsoever.
  • I have worked with two sales reps who have been incredibly helpful as well.
  • It has an organized user interface that makes it easy to make the app your own.
Cons
  • While it is easy to use, it is somewhat limited in what you can edit. I have never had something I wanted to and couldn't edit, but there is some give and take there.
We use it for our conferences and it works so well. It shows attendees their schedule, lets them network with other attendees, has maps of the venue and city, and we can send out push notification reminders and updates.

Our company uses CrowdCompass as the meeting event app for programs we manage. We also help clients with managing and learning to use their CrowdCompass account. Instead of having paper material handed out during an event, we use the app to relay all necessary information, including agendas and travel information. CrowdCompass is managed by our app team, but content is given by the planning team, and attendees are the real users.
  • Social Wall -- Sharing internal and external content onto a digital wall
  • Personalized Agendas -- Multiple ways to personalize, either between assigning sessions to people, placing people in groups, or restricting access.
  • Importing Contacts and information.
Cons
  • The "My" Section such as "My Schedule" -- we sometimes have a generalized schedule we don't assign to attendees, but the My section shows first in the app menu, and they want to go to the "My Schedule" and get confused when they don't see their schedule, and we then have to explain that they need to go to "Agenda".
  • Uploading graphics to different sections -- If we want a section with descriptions about activities, adding graphics and then viewing them in the app is not very intuitive.
  • Container App -- Not having the ability to do private distribution for apps, and trying to make clients understand why people have to go through a container app.
When the client is very adamant about branding (i.e. needing a private distribution app) and when having a basic agenda, needing to group attendees into multiple groups, and possibly modify an existing uploaded group assignment -- look at other options. When connecting to a Cvent registration site, personalizing agendas, restricting views on different sections, and grouping attendees into those groups all works great.

I have used CrowdCompass as a user, and recommend to our clients the use of CrowdCompass whenever an on-site app is requested.
  • Only needs to be downloaded once EVER, not once per event!
  • Syncs automatically with registration data - huge time saver.
  • Creative engagement options.
Cons
  • Small learning curve.
  • Cost-prohibitive for smaller organizations.
Great for groups who meet with your organization often, or for 3+ day events.

Not ideal/not worth it for shorter (two days or less), one-off meetings.

We use CrowdCompass at our two flagship events, an advocacy conference and a large NYC conference. We use it to keep our attendees both engaged and informed before, during, and after the event. It allows us to go (mostly) paperless and impress our attendees. Both groups contain a mix of older and younger users. The younger group really adopts the technology, while the older appreciates the ease with which they can use the app.
  • Customer service.
  • User experience.
  • Back end administration.
Cons
  • Customization.
  • Interactive features.
  • Documentation.
Really good for companies who are using a mobile app at many events throughout the year. You can clone the design and brand it and the price gets better the more you use. It's great for big events with complex schedules and sessions. It’s less suited to smaller events and companies with a few events hat change drastically every year.
