Within our department, it is used heavily as a communication and registration tool in event management. We use it for sending advertising emails and building registration and information websites for events with over 4,000 attendees from around the world. We use it for check in at events, to collect fees, and for data and statistic management after the events.

Likelihood to Recommend
Cvent Event Management is great for coordinating communication and registration associated with large events. You can send a variety of communications automatically with a range of triggers (at specific dates/times, whenever someone leaves a certain page, whenever someone registers, etc.) and because you can build using data tags, you can easily customize those communications for each recipient. It also allows for complex registration and payment processes with lots of design and function options. This is ideal for multi-day events, conferences, reunions, and workshops with a lot of people. It collects and easily displays tons of analytic details and makes them easy to review. For very small or simple events it is perhaps not worth the effort, but to manage the details of large and complex events it works wonderfully.

We are a third party event management company. We provide registration and event technology solutions for companies. Currently Cvent is used in our department only.
Pros
  • Cvent has very robust reporting options.
  • Cvent has a comprehensive meetings management workflow options.
  • Cvent is continually striving to make their modules better and more user friendly.
Cons
  • Cvent could benefit from expanding the bulk action options within the attendee management module.
  • Cvent could improve options to identify what users made changes within the back end of the software.

Cvent is very customizable as an in-house event management software for a company. As a third party we often configure workarounds to make sure we are protecting our client requests, and the ability to make the sites user friendly on the front end.

We turned to Cvent Event Management to plan, schedule and report on usability studies with the end-users of our software platform. This provided us with a tremendous savings in time and logistics, especially with its integration with WebEx. With Cvent we're able to more quickly schedule and execute these studies, and using the customizations we created, generate meaningful reports across user sessions. This has been a big win for us!
Pros
  • Easy to schedule events.
  • Flexible options for customizing our sign-up portal.
  • Solid WebEx integration.
Cons
  • Customizing web pages is a bit cumbersome.
  • Some of the workflows are non-linear and require shifting gears a bit.
  • WebEx integration could be even tighter for changing and cancelling events.

Some SMM accounts/ departments within BCD M&I have their own instance of Cvent. BCD M&I also has their own instance for the event side of the business.
Pros
  • Budget. You can completely customize the budget module by creating a customized library of your categorizes and sub categories.
  • Registration Tool. You can create more fun/ customized registration sites and it also has some survey functionality.
  • The RFP/ Sourcing functionality is robust and easy to navigate
Cons
  • Reporting functionality is a little rigid. For example: We can only pull x, y and z question into x,y and z column, but we need it to be done differently. More customization in the reporting tool would be a huge help
Likelihood to Recommend
I feel that the Cvent software is extremely easy to use and to learn. The way it is designed just makes sense. You can easily make changes if you have administrative rights and if for some reason you can't, their customer service is superior to that of any other software in it's competitive set.

The web developers and registration managers on our operations team use Cvent to build and manage the majority of our clients' events. It's one of three registration tools we use and it allows our company to organize registration data effectively.
Pros
  • Clean reporting
  • Easy interface and navigation
  • The ability to import data into internal fields saves time.
Cons
  • I wish that after building an event, I could press one button that pulls all the fields included in that event build. Instead we have to handpick the fields which takes time.
Likelihood to Recommend
Cvent is a strong tool for small, medium and large events that require detailed reporting throughout the life-cycle of a program/event.
