VNC and RDP are free solutions that do not have all the features in DameWare. While you might be able to remotely connect, DameWare Remote Support allows you to transfer files, lock out the screen, see the console session, take screen shots, reboot, etc... Plus it is supported by a company that continuously improves the product.

If you are a consultant, saving machines that are troublesome as favorites regardless of organization can be huge. Also because connections require authentication by the domain or the computer you are connecting to, the information remains secure, while allowing the tools to work with or without a domain.

We have used TeamViewer. We can support our users without the connection dropping. The product has many abilities that DameWare is barely implementing into their software, such as chat. TeamVewer has this ability along with VOIP, chat, file transfer, webcam, and meetings.

The only product that beats the price is Real VNC. And that does not have the feature set that DameWare includes. Both LogMeIn and TeamVeiwer cost way too much to justify them and you have to rely on a third party service for them to work. With the combination of feature and cost savings, it's almost a no brainier.

We used VNC before DameWare and have not looked at any other product since we started using DameWare. The employee that chose DameWare is no longer with the company so I cannot comment on any other products they might have compared.

In my opinion DameWare is the leader of the pack when it comes to internal support and access. However it falls behind for computers that are not connected directly to your network. For our remote users we use LogMeIn Rescue as it gives us the ability to get past the UCA.

DameWare has the best screen refresh rate and quickest connectivity. The only time the refresh can be frustrating is when connecting to eastern Asia, which is to be expected. While the cost per license is measurably higher, the ROI is worth the investment at the current price point compared to the other products we sampled.

I was able to observe DameWare being used by our corporate counterparts prior to purchasing and I didn't need any further convincing that it was the product for me. I have been very impressed with DameWare since day one and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future and I will continue to recommend it to all of my associates.

We previously utilized LogMeIn. They increased the pricing of their solution which made us reconsider it. I inherited LogMeIn. I am not a big fan of hosted solutions for some vital IT processes. There was convenience in LogMeIn, but there were also risks about the solution that I was never completely comfortable with. I had utilized DameWare at a previous company, so I knew what I was getting with it. It was an easy decision for me to make. DameWare is an exceptional product.

I have used a few remote support options over the years, but always come back to DameWare when it's all said and done. RealVNC was something that we tried out for remote desktop support at one point. It allowed for the connectivity to the devices fairly smoothly, but was lacking the full feature set of a product like DameWare. I am able to do as little as I need to or as much as necessary when using DameWare.

  • vSphere,VMware Workstation
Different strengths. Workstation allows me to have multiple operating systems on my PC. I also use it some to talk to servers. VSphere is also a good interface to servers, especially ESX machines. I use DameWare mainly when talking to multiple PCs. I don't feel it has quite as good an interface when talking to a server running VMs.
