Dashlane Password Manager

Dashlane is currently being used by our company to manage not only all our passwords but all of our clients' social passwords as well. It is too insecure to store passwords in a document or note, and it is also frustrating to have to open different documents every time you need to remember a password. With Dashlane, I can just keep the app open and have all the passwords in one place. Not only that, but I can share passwords to and from the other users in my company with ease, so we can all access it easily with one master password.
  • Stores sensitive information (passwords, payment info, etc.)
  • You can easily share passwords from Dashlane user to Dashlane user.
  • It can connect with your browser as an extension for ease of use.
  • The mobile app is well thought-out.
Cons
  • Sometimes the sharing function isn't as intuitive as it should be.
  • Sometimes the auto-fill function doesn't work when I visit websites. When it does work, it's fantastic, but when it doesn't, it's a little extra work.
If you have many applications or accounts with multiple passwords to keep track of, this is a great password manager that is clean, versatile on many devices, and great for a team environment. Even if you are an individual with too many passwords, it's still great. I think Premium/Professional Dashlane is needed only for a team, though.

Dashlane has been an excellent choice for our organization

We use Dashlane to protect passwords and secure information across the enterprise and provide our employees a safe place to store their personal logins. We have confidence in how the solution performs and have watched it improve over the years.
  • Dashlane allows us to securely share passwords to critical systems.
  • Dashlane helps us safely store sensitive information.
  • Dashlance facilitates quick transitioning between platforms by auo-filling forms.
Cons
  • It would be preferable for Dashlane to bill for add-on licenses instead of requiring a credit card to add seats.
Dashlane wouldn't be suited for the smallest of customers who don't meet the minimum # of seats required for Business licensing.

It works

Dashlane Password Manager

I have used Dashlane both as a free account user and as an admin in a business account. The free offering was pretty meager and didn't really showcase the value the product could offer. Since that time, the restrictions have increased to the point where the free offering is pretty worthless. The business offering is decent, primarily because as a paid account, you can use it on multiple devices and with no limit on stored accounts. However, there are some features both of the core password manager and the business account that prevent Dashlane from being the best. First, when exporting and importing stored passwords, there isn't a mechanism that will match or merge duplicates. So if I have the account "username" for site "domain.com" in Dashlane and the import, I end up with two accounts, and I can't merge them, nor is there an easy way to see the possible duplicate record. Second, it is kind of a hassle to mass edit items. So if I want to change multiple items in the same way, I have to do it one at a time. The only bulk operation is delete. I can't, for example, select multiple Google accounts and turn off auto-login. With the business account, as an admin, I can't specify certain defaults for my org. I would like to have admin-assisted recovery turned on by default (or at least have it trigger a confirmation for each new user).
Lastly, the secret sharing does not allow for copy/paste, so when I share a new WiFi password, they can see it, but not copy it to paste into the WiFi prompt.
  • Stores passwords
  • Shares items
Cons
  • Allow copy of shared secrets
  • Allow setting more defaults on accounts
  • Find duplicates and merging
  • Better free offering - multiple devices with limited items
If you need to store passwords, secrets, or other private data, Dashlane can do it. If you need multiple devices or more than a few items, you will have to pay.

Dashlane - beautiful and easy to use!

I use Dashlane on a daily basis, it is a beautifully designed and very helpful password manager that is available on multiple devices. It helps to keep everyone using strong and secure passwords without having to remember them or take the risk of saving them in an un-secure place and it is made so easy by proceeding with the automatic login of all your accounts, even on really complex logins with 2-steps or more than 2 fields, like certain bank account website. It also quickly and easily identifies dangerously weak or reused passwords and will alert you if a security breach is recorded, keeping your organization safer than ever.
  • The Emergency Contact feature is quite nice since it allows you to set an emergency contact for your important accounts in case of an urgent and critical matter. It is useful at work as well as for personal accounts, simply set your emergency contact to one of your coworkers so they can temporarily access your account.
  • Dashlane offers one of the most polished interface that is out there, it is nice, sleek and easy to use. It's beautiful and simple interface makes it perfect to use for anyone who isn't too computer-friendly.
  • The Security Dashboard easily identifies dangerously weak or reused passwords that are stored in your password vault and quickly sees what accounts hackers may have compromised with a handy security score screen. Dashlane will alert you if a security breach is recorded.
Cons
  • Dashlane could improve their email support, as it is not the fastest or most efficient support at the moment.
  • Dashlane can be a little expensive if you wish to use features like syncing and web access to passwords.
I have to connect to a lot of different websites during the day and they all have to be secured with complicated and exhaustive passwords which are impossible for me to remember. Having Dashlane automatically generate complex passwords for me and create new entries in the software saves me a lot of time and headaches.

Enterprise Control.

We use it to control how passwords are shared between our teams and with clients who may be allowing us to access their social media platforms or analytics. It will enable us to onboard/offboard employees more quickly from this as well, given we're a reasonably mid-sized organization, so data leakage/password leakage can be a concern.
  • Easy to use.
  • Straightforward - not too many bells and whistles.
  • Intuitive
Cons
  • I think the browser plug-in functionality changed recently, but it's not bad.
Dashlane is great for growing organizations that must manage how log-in information is stored and shared across growing teams. It also allows us to securely store and share client details when we log into platforms on their behalf. However, it is less appropriate for employee personal usage. We've had issues in the past when personal and professional passwords were stored in the same master account, and when the employee was offboarded, they were not able to easily transfer that information.
