Db2

Considering Price, features configurations timelines of the IBM Db2 we found that is very Robust in Scalability, Reliability, Highly Available. also, we are already a IBM products user and we are much satisfied with the overall product as well as customer support from IBM team. This brings us to use Db2 in our organisation.

Db2 is more scalable, reliable, and easily configurable than all the products that we evaluated. We were already using some of the services provided by IBM and were satisfied with the support and pricing. This led us to select Db2 as our database management system.

With the other two mentioned above, I needed to have processes and frameworks that executed outside of the environment driving DB management operations. Yes, these are completely different solutions; however, the support you get for framework, library, and language support allows for runtime at a different layer than with other solutions.

I have experience with the above-mentioned similar products but mainly with MySQL. In terms of speed and query optimization capabilities, Db2 is far ahead in comparison to MySQL. Because of various issues like scalability, multiple departments hitting DB together causing failures, etc., we decided to switch to Db2. In terms of data security also, we were facing a number of issues with MySQL which is not the case with Db2.

I prefer Db2 and hist command line interface

unlike other database Db2 work in diffent concept.most of the org use db to manage huge chuck of data and process faster with less time.other database will be failed to do such task or success rate will be less

Before selecting Db2, I had the opportunity to work with three different products: MySQL, IBM API Connect, and IBM Cloud Databases.MySQL is a very popular and effective relational database management system, especially known for its ease of use and reliability. While working with MySQL, I appreciated its flexibility and vast support community. However, when it came to handling large volumes of data and high availability resources, I felt I needed a more robust solution like Db2.

IBM Db2 suite is an object-relational database, and due to its strong fundamentals, it stands apart from the rest of the products. With the rich user experience it provides, customers most likely use this product. It also provides a wide range of features like Disaster recovery data replication & high availability, and zero downtime, making it easy for the business use case.

Compared to similar products, Db2 shared common Relational DataBase Management System (RDBMS) features such as SQL support, data integrity, Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability (ACID) Compliance and concurrency control. However, the Db2 is designed for scalability, supporting both horizontal and vertical scaling. It also integrated with AI and machine learning tools and offers deployment flexibility, including on-premise and cloud environments.

Reliability

Tried tested true and dependable. Main distinguishing factor however is the ongoing time in which it has been relied on, the preference by some stakeholders for ensuring sensitive data security, and its flexibility

Db2 is much more scalable and available then other Databases such as MariaDB, Ingres, Sysbase, Informix etc Oracle is good but comes close to Db2.
Db2 is multi platofrom and when it comes to mainframe there is no other choice then Db2 for the database. Tools available for Db2 are far better then tools available for other databases.

Db2 is one of the oldest and mature rdbms available in the market. IBM products were already been used in the organization. Cost effective in terms of licensing.

We tried MS SQL. However, MS SQL is one of the most widely used in enterprise management. However, that is mostly compatible with Microsoft services and does not provide much strength with outside applications. db2 is also open-independent and compatible with cross-platforms, so it is beneficial.

Implementation and administration complexity, user learning curves, cost considerations, migration difficulties, and possible support and documentation issues are some of the drawbacks of SAP HANA Cloud. With IBM Db2 it is also incredibly safe, effective, and user-friendly. These days, it's also being utilized in conjunction with a cloud database which is great.

Db2 stacks up very well against the competition. The overall advantage of using Db2 is it has given us far more better and accurate results. It has lead to a greater client satisfaction than others which we have used / tested so far. It is way better than SAP in so many terms.

We actually use both Db2 and Oracle RAC (Realtime Application Clusters). We also have applications that utilize both databases. I guess it comes down to what your experience is and if you prefer working on one over the other.

DB2 is reliable and performs well. It is easy to maintain and runs well.

Its functionality is complementary to what Db2 offers, but does not replace the capabilities of a dedicated database.Finally, IBM Cloud Databases offers a set of integrated database services in the cloud. Experience with IBM Cloud Databases was valuable, especially in terms of scalability and flexibility in the cloud environment. However, I chose Db2 for its superior performance, advanced security, and robustness in mission-critical environments.In summary, Db2 was selected because of its excellent balance between performance, security, and the ability to handle large volumes of data efficiently. Additionally, its integration with a variety of tools and systems, along with comprehensive support from IBM, made it the ideal choice for our project's specific needs and objectives.

I only know DB2 well, Oracle and sql/server just as a user...

We are working for our product , where we were using different database but that database was not fast our work So we switch to IBM Db2 for better result.

DB2 works as good as any of these databases. It is cheaper to run than any of them. It is more solid and stable that SQL server or Netezza. It is very comparable to Oracle for reliabilty.

But for administration, Netezza is a little simpler because it has no indexes. Netezza is also purpose built for data warehousing. It isn't a good transactional database for manufacturing. But administration is far simpler in DB2 that in Oracle or SQL server.
