Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Our organization uses, and has been using, Vertical Response for many years to help market to multiple customers channels.
  • I love the ease of list builder because we often times have a lot of data to import. It would be simply impossible without this tool, considering the amount of customer data we have for any one given email.
  • We really enjoy the ease of use of the HTML wizard as well. It helps even a novice be able to make a beautiful and attention grabbing email.
  • The dashboard is functional and easy to find when you need with a quick search.
  • Truly, for our business, there are not many things that Vertical Response could improve on to make us recommend it more. I can't think of any complaints.
Vertical Response is a great tool for reaching out to customers en masse. The only time I don't use Vertical Response is when I am contacting one or two customers at a time. Otherwise, I almost exclusively use Vertical Response due to that fact I can track the efficacy of our marketing efforts.
  • This software is an invaluable tool for us. Because it is a cloud application, I am able to have work on projects from home.
  • Additionally, this is a wonderful tool to track ROI with some of our newer campaigns. It has been a great resource in helping us determine which programs are effective vs ineffective, what programs to run and what programs to cut.

I am a true believer in Vertical Response. So much so, that this is the first and only software I have used for this type of marketing. When this program was first launched it was a godsend - truly innovative for its time. And in the years since, I have continued to implement this software at three other winery properties because there is nothing else I want to use.
At Vertical Response the help desk associates are courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. You can tell they enjoy what they do. And clearly, they are well trained because most times, the first point of contact is able to resolve any issue you may have. There have been very few times where an associate has needed to get back to me or escalate me to a supervisor.
No
There was once a time when I accidentally hit "upload list one at a time" instead of importing from an external file. Couldn't quite put my finger on what happened next, but I was locked out of the screen I needed to get in to go back and start over. With a quick call to the customer service number, my problem was resolved ASAP.
  • The whole platform is extremely easy to navigate.
  • The dashboard and home page make seeing things at a glance incredibly easy.
  • I really love the search functionality this platform provides. I can easily look up and find data in a large subset of customers.
  • I don't find anything about Vertical Response to be cumbersome.
I truly love this product. We are moving to an all-in-one system next year and my greatest fear in doing so is how much I will miss this platform. Although we are excited for things ahead, I will always keep Vertical Response in my back pocket incase I don't love the new platform as much.

  • Manages bulk email campaigns
  • Designs and delivers emails in industry standard format.
  • Excellent reporting metrics
  • Vertical Response is an excellent service.
I think bulk mail creation, distribution and reporting has been refined to the point that most anyone can use any of the widely available tools to get excellent results. I have passed VR's marketing materials to colleagues.
  • Vertical Response does the job of managing emails and campaigns very well.
VR, MailChimp and Constant Contact all provide similar experience and provide the same function. I use many different tools.
Vertical Response used to be the Gold standard for bulk email design and campaign management. Competitors, (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc. ) now all provide comparable services and similar pricing. There's no clear advantage to any of them.
Yes
I am well versed in MailChimp, Constant Contact, EventBrite and Vertical Response. They are all comparable.

  • Great professional templates.
  • Easy navigation.
  • Good delivery statistics.
  • More technical than a Constant Contact.
  • Emails are nicely rendered, better response rates.
Great service but a little pricey for smaller businesses
If you need something more professional than the more generic free email clients, this works well.
  • Easy templates.
  • Good import features.
  • Straying from easy templates requires some html knowledge.
Easy to use but need HTML for more advanced designs

  • Completeness of vision.
  • Lead conversion improved.
  • Email delivery improved.
Small business tool with limited functionality to meet the business's needs as it grew. A great starter tool; but ultimately one will likely move on to more complex tools.
What functionality do you need? What information do you need to know after every email send? Do you want automation? Do you want behavioral information? What kind of reporting should be available? What kinds of integration do you nee? How many leads do you have? How many emails do you expect to send per month?

Price and features drove the decision. Vertical Response had the features we needed at the price we could afford.

  • Getting Salesforce integration to work
Salesforce integration never worked right. We had to abandon.
No
Too small of a product to need such support when you can search the internet. There are better places to spend money.
Support did a good job getting back to me on my needs. There was one issue where I was given an "I don't know" which was very frustrating at the time because it really mattered.
No
I cant think of a singular instance. 99% of the time they were solid and on top of issues and very helpful.
  • Guided email creation
  • Guided email delivery
  • Easy to import and manage leads
  • SFDC integration was weak but this could be out of date knowledge
Sweet and simple. Nothing more to say here.

  • The integration with salesforce was relatively point and click
  • Tracking receipts of emails in the constituent's record in Salesforce
  • The process of updating existing lists is not great. We find that we generally have to rerun the query and save as a new list, a process that is easier than manually adding to the old list
  • If you want to create an email template, you have to have uploaded images to the saved library. If you try to create a new email using an existing email and the existing email contained images that were uploaded directly to the email, you'll get an error when trying to send. The error wasn't well explained. This caused us to call in (after trying several times) to figure out the problem. However, the support process was quick and helpful to diagnose this.
  • You have to call in to get the Vertical Response product attribution removed from the emails you send. After doing so once, it's removed on all future emails.
  • While the product is also used to communicate with existing customers, the primary KPIs are around warm leads, qualified opportunities, and closed deals generated or associated with marketing emails sent
It's met our needs to date

  • Email marketing for upcoming webinars, prospect communication, invitations to customers for our customer online community. Tracking for announcements to existing customers about upgrades to our product.
ExactTarget and MailChimp
ExactTarget, MailChimp. I liked VerticalResponse's integration with Salesforce. We used MailChimp before and it says on their website they have integration with Salesforce, but we were never able to find it on the Force.com website.

For ExactTarget, we used that in the past and it did integrate with Salesforce. Someone else evaluated and selected that. Unfortunately, I can't remember why we didn't go back to ExactTarget. It may have been price. Either way, of the 3 we selected Vertical Response.
  • Implemented in-house
Click a few buttons in salesforce & it's in place.
  • Self-taught
Yes, easy to learn with out training. We did fine via "self-taught".

Standard support has been sufficient
A couple of times I've had to wait on hold for 10 minutes. Otherwise it's been good. The support reps have been knowledgeable.
The product is easy to use and understand. WYSIWYG sometimes produces HTML that has to be troubleshot in the pure HTML view (for things like table cells and rows) versus within the WYSIWYG editor.
Never had an issue with uptime
No issues

Simple, sign up was online.
Just what they had online. Sometimes they'll send emails with discounts if you buy credits in advance at that time.
