I use DemandTools rather than Dataloader for uploading from a list of contacts because it is better at identifying existing matches and providing the ID rather than creating duplicates. However, for mass updates to existing data or mass deletes, I prefer Dataloader. I'm not sure if those are possible to do within DemandTools.

For importing and creating large numbers of contact records, the DemandTools products have more capacity and flexibility than the native Salesforce tools. For data updates and exporting data, DemandTools wins hands down over the native Salesforce Data Loader tool. It is more flexible and easier to use.

There is no comparison. Other tools provide elementary import and update abilities and maybe find ID features if you're lucky. That is like comparing a tricycle to a 737 airplane. Even XL Connector, which I use to the best of its ability for clients who cannot afford DemandTools, does not handle the daily challenges data presents to any organization that truly cares about data. DemandTools dominates the market, period.

Cloudingo is great for de-duping, particularly automated de-duping, but doesn't have the same quality of data maintenance capabilities. Because it's done in the cloud, it can be a little slow to use and the interface can get confusing and hard to understand what you're updating. I've also used Salesforce Data Loader and some other free tools but DemandTools is the easiest and fastest to use.

Regardless of how outdated the user interface is, for me DemandTools has been so straightforward to use and the number of resources at hand when onboarding yourself is enough to master it. The only thing the other tools have that are better are strictly the user interface of those products.

We didn't look around because DemandTools used to be free for non-profits when CRM Fusion owned it. Once Validity purchased it they immediately started to charge all non-profits. The only other tools we've used are Apex Data loader from Salesforce and Dataloader.io. They can do the job but Apex Data loader is complex to use and you have to do all your manipulations within spreadsheets.

Because we had DemandTools when I was hired into this company, we've never looked into any alternatives to DemandTools. Our Senior member may be looking into other options when our contract is up, but we are still about two years away from that. I would imagine that most alternatives to DemandTools would function pretty similarly, though.

DemandTools is essentially the best mass data manipulation tool on the market for working with Salesforce data.
DataLoader is old, out-dated and cumbersome to use. This tool is what DataLoader wishes it could be and essentially replaces it as it surpasses it in every way possible.

Some of the key features of DemandTools over DataLoader are the "expert logic" checkbox which allows for detailed logic-based searches, saving scenarios (repeatable tasks) and the PowerGrid tool in general. After beginning to use DemandTools in 2016, I have used DataLoader maybe 1 time since.

The only use case for DataLoader over DemandTools is to view/export deleted records. That is so far the only thing I've found that DemandTools cannot do that DataLoader can.

Best in class for data mass update and dedupe. At the time of selection, this was the most cost-effective. May not be the case in the future with the new pricing strategy. Working with large data sets seems to be best when using a GUI program like this. Compared to Apex Data Loader, DemandTools is much more full-featured and integrated with Excel. Easily becomes a one-stop shop for everything you need to do data update wise.

DemandTools is easily the most powerful of the tools I've used for data manipulation in Salesforce. While I will jump between different tools for different SF org; DemandTools is the only program that I have full confidence in, no matter the task at hand. The alternatives may be easier on the eyes or for use by beginners, but lack the depth and breadth of viability that DemandTools offers.

In my previous job, I did not have DemandTools and I used the Salesforce DataLoader tool for mass updates; it would take hours to export an Excel list, make the updates for each object for owner change, for example, and then reload into Salesforce. DataLoader is a simple and solid tool, but DemandTools takes the same concept and changes it from a piece of paper to an encyclopedia of usefulness!

DemandTools is no frills power. The top of the line tool, best suited for moderate to experienced admins

Jitterbit is an incredibly intuitive tool, easy to use and map. Not quite as powerful as DemandTools and doesn't handle the de-duping process.

Workbench (Developer Force Tool) I can't add in the list of products, but is the free alternative. If you have any sizable effort, DemandTools is well worth the cost. Many gaps in Workbench although if you have $0 to spend, it's your best option.

I replaced the Salesforce Dataloader with DemandTools. DemandTools allows much more functionality and much more efficiency. I also use DBAmp which allows us to upload data via the back end database. While DBAmp is great for automation, it is not an end user product. Using these tools together has been very beneficial to our organization.

I also use Jitterbit free, which is great for flipping between production and sandbox when importing, but I am more comfortable with DemandTools' full range of tools and find them to be easy to use. I use DemandTools more often for updates and cleanup, than for imports and that is where it really shines.
I also use DemandTools sister product PeopleImport, which is great for importing Leads and Contacts, but doesn't have the ability to import into any other objects or to accomplish the cleanup and update abilities that DemandTools can.

We went with DT because it met our needs at the time and was very cost effective. Cost is based completely on the number of users, so you're only going to pay for how many users you have (even though actual licenses to the software are dependent on how many you want - we just have one). Also, Salesforce Data Loader is really hard to use and their data importing functions are awful.

DemandTools is much easier to use than competitor applications, and its cost is very competitive.
