We use Deputy [to] manage employee schedules and payroll export (timesheets). [One] of the problems that addressed [is] time management.
  • Schedule planning.
  • Overtime projection.
Cons

I'm currently not able to export some of my employee's timesheets (regular hours), and some employees' overtime calculations are incorrect. After spending [a] few hours with customer support "tier 1", they opened "ticket [...]" for "tier 2". [In my experience,] it has been 15 days, and the issue hasn't been fixed. I made [a] detailed video recording explaining the current issue to the current "tier 3" employee [...]. After [five] days he responded by asking me for basic information I addressed in the first 30 seconds of the video. [I believe] he clearly did not open the file.

We have been using Deputy for the past year and a half to do all our rostering, signing in and out for shifts, and payroll.
  • The schedule system.
  • Sending available shifts to other staff.
  • Syncing with Xero for streamlined payroll.
  • Onboarding new employees without having all the paperwork is amazing.
Cons
  • None at the moment.
It has made rostering staff on each week so much easier, being able to load a saved template and then have everyone's leave populated is great, saves so much time. The app for everyone's phone is great as all staff can check their shifts and see who else is working that day. Having open shifts sent out to staff that they can accept saves so much time and back and forth emails as well.

Rostering and payroll system connects to account program.
  • Easy to set up and add staff details.
  • Easy to use to communicate with staff, departments, and accounting programs making payroll a breeze.
  • Continues support very quickly with good outcomes on each occasion.
Cons
  • I would like to see alerts added.
  • Alerts added to emails/mobile phones to prompt the intended to become aware of the alert initiating the intended to check the alert for details.
  • A secure document download and upload option would be priceless for community services in Australia.
  • Ability to use a link from the up/down load option to direct PDF doc to another program/email account.
It has met my expectations so far, I was not sold lies, or misinformed or otherwise scammed by the company. Their product does exactly what they say it does without any confusion. I have been lured into so many scams, products that are nowhere near as good as the sales person.

Deputy is being used as our time and attendance and scheduling platform across my entire organization.
  • The instances where the platform is unavailable are rare.
  • It is easy to get in contact with support.
Cons
  • Support: My request is rarely addressed properly, solutions are painfully slow, and my issue is rarely understood by support.
  • Security: Most recently, I discovered my employees are able to edit their own timesheets. Support has no appreciation for the gaping security hole this creates in my organization.
  • Responses to chat from support are so slow that I typically lose interest before the conversation is complete.
  • Solutions that require any actual work to accomplish take months to complete and are completed poorly even after taking that long.
If you have use for Deputy as is and will require no support whatsoever, it may serve you well. If you need any support, look elsewhere. Their scheduling works well for our purposes because we have had to learn workarounds for every shortcoming over years of using the product.

It’s used for rostering, timesheet approval[,] and syncing with our accounting platform. The biggest problem it solves is managing the intricate Award quirks to ensure our business isn’t breaking the law in payroll and with the [organization] of employment[.]

  • Newsfeed/staff communication and on shift visibility[.]
Cons
  • It doesn’t integrate with our PMS called Preno so it doesn’t capture all of our revenue. We use Kounta/light speed for the restaurant (but haven’t connected it ) and Preno for the accommodation. A clever tool would be to add in the number of cleans/strips/services to compare housekeeping performance[.]
Deputy is a great tool for any business, particularly where there is lots of casual employments, to train, manage, and roster staff.
