We use Deputy to keep a live track of our full time employees costs. It also links up with our accounting & other management software which is very helpful.
Pros
  • Monitors daily/weekly/monthly wage expenses very clearly.
  • Assigns workers to specific job sites.
  • Monitors hours worked (start / finish log times).
Cons
  • At this stage we are still working through Deputy and it seems most things are covered.
Likelihood to Recommend
Construction company; definitely worth using to clearly organise your full time workers on a weekly/fortnightly schedule, and keeping the guys accountable with start times and finish times. Probably not necessary for construction companies that only use sub-contractors, as they send invoices and hours/jobs can change outside of your control.

Cons
  • Reporting functions.
  • Would like to be able to customize reports to fit our needs.

It works good for our size of company. I think it would be a little more difficult if we had over 100 employees. Especially since we cannot manipulate reporting as easily as we would like to.

Pros
  • Creating schedules
  • Effective clock in by geo-location
  • User friendly and easy to navigate
Cons
  • Improve location information to provide addresses of the locations
  • Allow downloads of the people with their information on a spreadsheet
  • Instead of push notifications have proper notifications that start in the app, reminders to clock in, etc

Deputy makes schedule creation easier and allows for easier communication with the team. It is just friendly which has enabled our staff to learn about the available shifts and assign themselves for them.

I use deputy as an employee in order to clock in and out of classes that I teach. It is what our manager uses to schedule us. We can offer shifts up and or put in vacation requests. It keeps us all on the same page and helps our manager with pay roll!
Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Quick to learn
  • Plenty of reminders
Cons
  • You used to be able to quite easily go back in and change your time but now that does not work the same. If I miss a shift I have to clock a different one. I used to be able to start the shift I forgot to sign in for and then adjust the time
  • Reminders for longer than an hour in advance
  • an integration with apple calendar!
Likelihood to Recommend
Great for shift work and for scheduling employees who get paid by the hour. Not great for people who don't necessarily need to clock in, those who just need to get the work done.

Well suited for a small to moderate sized business. It takes time though so it should be an employee's job to take care of it, not someone higher up or the owner persay.
