We use Deputy across all departments of our business, from Vineyard to Cellar Door and Housekeeping.
I really appreciate being able to see who is on site over the weekend when I am not at work - visibility.
Pros
  • Time stamping shifts
  • Multiple awards
  • Synchronising with MYOB
Cons
  • We do find the Help feature frustrating at times - therefore a more helpful Chat would be good!
  • It would be good if Deputy could push the updated Award pay rates into MYOB
Likelihood to Recommend
  • Deputy is well suited to an organisation that has multiple departments or multiple locations as well as hours of work that are not standard.
  • Deputy is not well suited when staff do not have a mobile phone or are not willing to use a mobile device as multiple tablets will then need to be supplied.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Our small business uses Deputy to track time and export to our payroll provider. We also communicate schedule-related issues (like holidays, time-sheet deadlines, etc.) with the bulletin board.
Pros
  • Easy timesheet entry and submittal
  • Easy export to payroll provider
  • Easy to copy and paste shifts when scheduling
  • Easy for employees to swap shifts or claim open shifts
Cons
  • We are still waiting for the ability to approve or deny leave requests from the mobile app. Currently it has to be done via desktop.
  • We’ve had a couple issues with push notifications but they have improved greatly.
  • The “require confirmation from employees” feature on messages doesn’t seem to work every time.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think Deputy is actually more full-featured than our small business needs, but we love the ease of use and reasonable pricing. The integration with our payroll provider is simple and accurate. For a large business or a service related business where there are many shifts, Deputy offers a lot of features that would be indispensable.

It has been life-changing for me by managing different staff schedules every week, especially with many part-timers. It's really helped me a lot. I could do it from everywhere, even when I was away. Deputy helps me reduce my workloads to make a weekly rota for my staff. It is very easy to use. I could access it from my PC or Laptop, saving me lots of time. Also, it keeps track of staff timesheets right on their mobile device.

  • Easy to use.
Cons
  • Would be more intuitive on mobile/tablet.
Likelihood to Recommend
I couldn't recommend it enough for other hospitality businesses, especially when having lots of part timers and weekly schedules. It is easy for managing availability/unavailability for staff.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
I like the fact that Deputy is able to be used on mobile devices. I have staff who travel in the community and I need to be able to verify location and times of service. When my employees are punching in and out, it is easy for me to verify appointments and time spent.
Pros
  • Pin drops at punch in/punch out times.
  • Ease of opening up shifts.
Cons
  • Pin drops at more times during the day, not just when an employee punches in and out.
Likelihood to Recommend
Great for staff that is mobile and needs to track different appointments. Frustration in trying to get Deputy to transmit timesheet data to payroll processing. Frustration in trying to set "my" company standards, and then all new employees not automatically having my company standards, I have to edit each employee from the Deputy standard.

Deputy has been used to assist in making sure that we have smooth operation in monitoring both number of resources and budget. Its super friendly user interface saves us a lot of admin time and allow[s for] quick action should there be any urgent situation, such as requiring to replace sick employees, managing leaves, etc. [Also], their pricing is reasonable for the features they provide.
