This product has been praised by users for its ability to facilitate easy and efficient database connectivity across various operating systems. Users appreciate the simple interface and ease of use, making it a valuable tool for both pilot projects and automation testing. One key benefit reported by users is the absence of connection failures, ensuring smooth data transportation between locally deployed data-entry applications and the database. Additionally, this product is relied upon for connecting desktop applications to the database, enabling the seamless transfer of new and updated data to the web database. It has gained popularity among different departments within organizations, with the technology department being one of the primary users.

Flexibility of ODBC setup: Several users have appreciated the flexibility provided by the ODBC setup available for Oracle. It has allowed them to connect various sources, enhancing their data integration capabilities.

Simple interface and ease of use: Many reviewers have found the client tool to have a simple interface and be easy to use, making it straightforward to access within Windows. This user-friendly design has facilitated smooth navigation and efficient usage for customers.

Reliability and high performance: The Oracle Default Database Connector tool is heavily used in Oracle application environments, resulting in far fewer connection failures compared to other tools. Users appreciate its reliability as it rarely experiences connection issues. Additionally, they consider the high performance and new features of the tool to be very useful, including direct mode connectivity that significantly improves efficiency.

Confusing Versions: Some users have found the different versions of the software confusing and felt there was a lack of direction on which one to choose for different Oracle and SQL Dev versions. This confusion has caused frustration and difficulty in selecting the appropriate version for their needs.

Lack of Presentation: The lack of presentation in the application has been seen as a drawback by several users. They feel that the visual design and user interface could be improved to enhance the overall user experience. Additionally, some users believe that the popularity of the product has decreased over time due to the emergence of other competing tools in the market with more visually appealing interfaces.

Third Party Dependency: There is a dependency on third-party components like a driver manager, which some users have expressed as a concern. These users suggest that removing this dependency would improve the product's performance, stability, and reduce potential compatibility issues.

In my organization, it is being used for the connectivity of locally deployed data-entry applications to the database. It is enabling the application for two way data transportation. It is also being used for connectivity of another desktop application to the database that transports the new data and updates the amended data to the web database.
  • It is available for variety of OSs like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.
  • Speed of data transfer is great.
  • It supports SSH and SSL.
  • It supports HTTPS tunneling.
  • Almost no connection failures makes it very reliable.
  • It is available for 32-bit and 64-bit both.
  • For each user, it is necessary to purchase a license.
  • Prices are still high.
  • Processing and delivery of license shall be instant.
  • How-to and FAQs about functionality seeks addition.
It is appropriate in all scenarios. It is perfect to connect with the database. Actually, nothing to dislike in functionality and performance. It is stand-alone and doesn't need any additional application to be installed.

We have been using this tool for a couple of our pilot projects mainly for automation testing. We have used other ODBC drivers and have seen connection failures while running the automation script. Once the automation script fails, we will have to restart those tests right from the beginning which is a waste of time. After using Devart we have not seen such failures. It has been working extremely well and is really helpful.
  • Far less connection failures. We had a lot of failures with the tool that we were using before.
  • High performance and new features are really useful. Direct mode connectivity seems to make the difference that was very much needed.
  • Works very well with Oracle Database 10g.
  • It would be good if the connection details are stored on the cloud based on the user login so that even if the software is corrupted, it can be pulled in automatically from the cloud upon reinstallation.
  • It would great if video demos were available for the key features of the tool. That would make it a lot simpler for the user when using it the first time.
  • User friendliness can be improved.
We are using it mainly for automation. We are using HP Quality Center as our automation tool and started using Devart ODBC for connectivity to Oracle DB. We have a lot of queries in our scripts that make several connections to the db for a particular user scenario. Devart ODBC has improved the overall runtime needed for the scripts.

  • Our organization has been largely moving into agile development life cycle and continuous integration is a key towards agile success. Automation is the first step towards continuous integration. We are really happy using Devart as a part of our automation engineering. It definitely contributes towards overall success.
  • We are trying to extend the usage. The development team has also shown interest towards the usage.
  • This is a cost effective tool. It is worth the price.
  • easysoft
Devart is more feature rich and the direct connectivity to the DB beats out the tool provided by easysoft. We tested both of the software with the freeware version on a trial project. The project team gave a demo of both the tools to the project owner and development manger. Devart got the votes even though it was a little costlier than easysoft.
