Dice TalentSearch is a powerful tool that has been used by various departments within our organization, as well as external staffing agencies, to efficiently source and locate candidates for specific job roles. With its advanced search options and Boolean search capabilities, users have been able to filter candidates based on required skills and criteria, creating a win-win situation for both the organization and job-seekers. The platform has proven to be a valuable resource for recruiters, coordinators, and managers to creatively source candidates and build a massive contact list.

Additionally, Dice TalentSearch has been instrumental in fulfilling resourcing needs across departments and teams within the company. It allows users to easily identify the best resources within the organization and alert team members about any potential openings. Furthermore, the product's features have been highly appreciated by talent acquisition, talent management, leaders/managers in product development and engineering, and HR departments for networking and making connections with professionals in the business community.

Moreover, Dice TalentSearch stands out as a promising big data solution that helps organizations reach the right talent, particularly in niche technologies. By gathering relevant data from multiple sites and social media platforms, it expands the pool of candidates while saving time in the hiring process. The predictive analysis feature also assists in identifying job changes, making it easier to find the right talent.

Overall, Dice TalentSearch has proven to be an invaluable tool for recruiting, sourcing, and proactively making connections with professionals. Its user-friendly interface and robust features have made it a go-to platform for finding top talent in the IT industry. Whether it's internal hiring needs or client staffing requirements, this product has consistently delivered results for users across different roles and industries.

Matching Key Skills: Users appreciate that Dice has done a good job of matching key skills with candidate profiles, making it easier to find suitable candidates for specific roles. This feature has been praised by several reviewers for its effectiveness in narrowing down the pool of potential candidates.

Integration with Other Platforms: The ability to bring in profiles from other sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter is seen as a valuable feature by users, as it expands the pool of potential candidates. Several users have mentioned this integration as a positive aspect of Dice TalentSearch.

Comprehensive Search Results: The presentation of search results on Dice TalentSearch is well-received by users. They like the inclusion of information on the consultant's search activity, role interest, salary, location, and travel preference. This comprehensive information helps in making informed decisions during the recruitment process. Numerous reviewers have commended this feature for providing detailed insights into potential candidates.

Filter for Nonsensical Profiles: Some users have suggested implementing a filter to identify and exclude candidate profiles with unrealistic demands or nonsensical information. This would address the concern of candidates with minimal experience asking for high salaries, which has been mentioned by multiple reviewers.

Incomplete Candidate Profiles: There are reports of incomplete candidate profiles with minimal content, potentially affecting the accuracy of the matching algorithm. Reviewers have expressed concerns about the lack of information provided by some candidates, indicating that this is a common issue among users.

Dated User Interface and Eye Strain: Several users find the user interface of DICE to be dated and mention that it still functions adequately. However, they also note that the UI colors are off-putting and strain their eyes. This feedback indicates that there is a consensus among reviewers regarding these usability issues.

We use DICE Open Web (now part of their TalentSearch solution) as our primary tool to find IT resources who meet our client's position requirements. The reason it is a powerful solution is because it brings together DICE's own resume database and merges them with profiles of consultants from other sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Crunchbase, etc.
  • DICE does a good job with matching key skills with candidate profiles
  • DICE does a nice job bringing in profiles from other sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • DICE does a nice way of presenting the results of a search including information on the consultant's search activity, role interest, salary, location, and travel preference, etc.
  • It would be great if DICE could somehow filter out "bad" candidate profiles...meaning where candidates put in non-sensical information either by accident or on purpose (e.g., candidates with 1 year of experience listed in their resume asking for 300K annual salary)
  • Similar to the previous item, some candidates have nearly incomplete resumes...I'm assuming the matching works on keyword and if it appears once it pulls it up although the content of the profile overall is very slim.
  • The only other thing I can think of is that DICE's UI is a bit dated, but overall it works.
DICE Open Web works well when you want to find IT specific candidates that are available in your local area. What I particularly like is that if you post a job, Dice Open Web/Talent Search will return potential candidates that meet your requirements. It is a proactive way they provide candidates from what you could do manually using their IntelliSearch tool to find candidates. I find that DICE is overall much more effective when you have a job to post and the candidates apply rather than doing a blind search. There are too many factors that make candidates returned by DICE Open Web not necessarily interested in your position. When candidates apply they have shown interest and then you can apply the Screener tool to help narrow the pool.

  • Overall, we see a decent # of candidates apply to our positions.
  • The job screener is probably the most helpful tool when posting our openings as it makes it a lot easier to manage and narrow the candidate pool.
  • The auto emails/communication templates we setup and use are very helpful to manage the application process.
Overall, I think we selected and have stayed with DICE because it has a strong concentration of IT specific resources. They also seem to have a good number of candidates who are looking for independent consulting work which best aligns with our current business model. But I think if we were to make a change, we would probably move to Indeed or LinkedIn as they have grown their resource pool, although they are not IT centric.

DICE is used by our corporate office staff.
2
DICE is a pretty user friendly, intuitive tool. If you know how to use basic productivity applications like MS 365, you can easily use DICE. You do NOT need to have an IT or HR specific background.
  • Search for available candidates
  • Obtain potential candidates for our job posting
  • Obtain a sense of the volume of consultants available in our local market for a particular skill or technology.
  • Obtain a sense of salary requirements for candidates for a particular skill set we are looking for.
  • Automatically receive potential candidates from our job posting
  • Finding colleagues from previous employers now on the open market
  • Obtain names of IT consultants in our local market and engage them into our network/pool via our newsletter
  • Identify and develop partnerships with 3rd party IT Services vendor companies posting their available staff
I'm assuming we will keep using DICE, but Indeed and LinkedIn are starting to prove their value and strength in having candidates/consultants use their services to look for new opportunities.
