What is DiscoverOrg (discontinued)?

DiscoverOrg was a sales and marketing intelligence tool used by technology vendors, staffing companies and consultants targeting IT, finance, marketing, engineering, technology and product development departments of Fortune-ranked, mid-market, and SMB companies in North America and Europe. DiscoverOrg specialized in mapping out org charts, including verified email addresses, direct-dial phone numbers, reporting structure, new projects and initiatives, and technology installed base.

ZoomInfo Technologies (formerly DiscoverOrg, which acquired and merged with ZoomInfo in 2019 and now operates under the ZoomInfo brand) has since combined all of the capabilities of the DiscoverOrg sales intelligence database into its flagship product, ZoomInfo. Readers interested in the DiscoverOrg database should investigate the ZoomInfo product instead.

DiscoverOrg has always been a favorite of mine, I am daily on the tool to prospect to contact and to call into or email. Finding out budget or scoop (since the acquisition of Ranking is very good, even though I feel that the integration is not as good as when the tools were separate from each other). This is definitely my number one product and the potential info you can find is huge.

Quite frankly, based on my usage, the information at ZoomInfo was typically more accurate than the information at DiscoverOrg. Now that DiscoverOrg has acquired ZoomInfo, perhaps the accuracy of the data will improve.

They're for different use cases. As I explained before, DiscoverOrg has the most information in general. So if you are looking for leads in a wide set of industries, and a wide set of roles and levels within a company, DiscoverOrg is the best bet for that. If you have a particular industry that you need tailored information for, other competitors might be a better way to go.

We actually use all 3 tools of ZoomInfo, LeadGenius & Sales Navigator. We use Sales Navigator a lot to search for the right titles like Corp Dev & Strategy roles and then use ZoomInfo to append the data into our Salesforce. The process takes a lot longer, but it is very targeted and the right people to reach out to. And it adds the data directly into salesforce which DiscoverOrg does not. But at least the lists are easy to upload into SFDC if you have permission to do so. We use DiscoverOrg for larger company prospecting. We didn't not use the other companies. We use them all.

We selected DiscoverOrg against them because of their quality of data, the quantity of data and strong customer focus, yes they are very responsive and available 24*7 for any issue and this is something we were looking for. DiscoverOrg never fails us in it, they always refreshed their data and information regularly which very amazing.

I find it similar to other products. The main thing I like about DiscoverOrg though is how easy it is to go from DO's database into Salesforce while preserving the appropriate metadata for me to build lists so I can then export to Excel (while keeping tracking in SFDC on) to Outreach for mass emailing/sequencing

It does not stack up against them and I would not choose Discover org over them. The company I am with now using them and no option was given. Based on my exposure to the program if I were given the decision-making process I would opt for zoom info over Discover org and all others I have tried.

In my opinion, DiscoverOrg is the weakest of the tools that I have used thus far. I am a big fan of the tool it purchased, RainKing. I think that they have it figured out and are doing a great job.

I didn't like the interface or organization as much. There's a possibility for false info to be fed because it's "user driven," which can give you the wrong info. DiscoverOrg gets to the meat of what you want and leaves out uncertainties. ZoomInfo has some contacts DiscoverOrg doesn't, but the same is true of DiscoverOrg.

DiscoverOrg is a good product. They provide a decently deep level of industry, company, lead/contact information, and they provide a well rounded assortment of filters to ensure that data is tailored to specific needs. The quality of their data is not always extremely high, with some of the data being even several years old, but by and large, the basics are accurate, and even if contact data is not always up to date, the general information available is still able to be harnessed for deeper value, depending upon sales models.

ZoomInfo does not have the accuracy of data that DiscoverOrg provides, which actually cost me time when researching contacts because I would waste efforts on prospects whose information wasn't correct. DiscoverOrg also has a much better support team that can help me when questions or needs come up, including adding new prospects at my request.

Much better overall quality product. It takes longer and has more errors in uploading leads, that is really my only complaint. Everything else has been seamless and have many great tools within the product. I definitely recommend it!

Hoovers was my go-to back in the day but have not used in a long time so can't speak to its efficacy. I remember when whoever wrote the company descriptions had a bit of sass and it always gave me a laugh. Hard to say the quality now given it has been years.

ONESOURCE was pretty terrible in my opinion, outdated/inaccurate information made really dirty lists and I don't recall the system being all that useful.

Rainking was the only tool I used before DiscoverOrg. I was new when we started Rainking and only had a week or two to use it. I am still fairly new with Discover Org but i love the user friendly experience and the overally capabilities of the product. Like i said earlier scoops is an amazing tool

Rainking was our previous tool that we had been using. It had many similar features of DiscoverOrg however some of the functionality was missing on Rainking that we now enjoy on DiscoverOrg. We also had access to Zoominfo which was a prospecting tool however some of the data was unreliable. Sales Navigator is also great for prospecting however you generally need more information.

I was not part of the group that chose DiscoverOrg. That was an early objective of my director who had used it at a previous job. We are looking into these other solutions as supplements for DiscoverOrg to fill in the gaps that we see. I think DiscoverOrg's platform stands on its own more than these other solutions, which are more add-ons to a database.

DiscoverOrg is definitely the standout among its competitors. It has provided me with far more value for the deals in my pipeline than any other prospecting tool that I have utilized in my current role. The data is far better and more accurate, which has given me many more opportunities to connect with prospective customers.

I think that since the acquisition of RainKing, DiscoverOrg is the top tool in the marketplace. Having the most, accurate data set will always reign supreme, and now adding 2 of the top 3 together gives DiscoverOrg users the advantage.
